  1. I'll say this, it's fcking joke they're requiring a Thai form to certify you have adequate insurance. Every insurance company I've ever dealt with can easily supply a declaration of insurance coverage. Used it many times to prove to my mortgage lender I had adequate insurance for my house. Went online to my health insurance company, IMG and lo and behold under My Documents I see I have an option of a Visa Letter. Clicking on that I select the country I need it for an out pops this nice letter. BTW, I'm 62 and this policy cost me $1,623 for the year. Like I, and others have posted before, Thai policies are a ripoff for what they charge and how little coverage you get with their policies.
  2. Judging by how poorly Thais do staying in their lane, passing, turning a corner and parking, I'm surprised any pass the depth perception test.
  3. Air quality is a lot better today even though the AQI is 69.
  4. I like it as is. The poor road surface and bad lighting gives it a seediness I quite like. It also keeps the idiots with the fast bikes and loud pipes away. Plenty of other areas in Pattaya for those that prefer an easier walk or road to drive on.
  5. Got back from my bike ride just before the heavens opened up. It was a short lived thunderstorm, but the rain should help clean up the air a bit. Snapped this pic on my ride near the top of Khao Talo. A view I'm more used to seeing the end of December rather than near the beginning of October.
  6. Power generation from coal isn't used much in Thailand. From what I could find it looks like the only one closest to Pattaya would be Rayong.
  7. My guess it's local factories and auto emissions. This site tracks fires and it's nowhere close to what it looks like during the burning season. And this site shows wind direction and intensity. If anything, not much wind in the area which may explain the higher pollution levels.
  8. Think I'll have to practice breathing through my nose on my morning bike ride today.
  9. Back from a bicycle ride and while my lungs weren't complaining my eyes were seeing a lot of haze in the air for this time of year. The AirVisual site confirmed what my eyes were seeing.
  10. Good to see you again. Good to see USA at least got onto the scoreboard.
  11. Sad to say, I've only ever caught a few minutes of rugby here and there. Since the Yanks are playing today I'll have to break that streak. The little bit I've caught I have to say I'm impressed. They really get knocked around a lot, and the best part they don't stop the game like they do for all the pretend injuries in football. See you a bit later this afternoon.
  12. Arcadia Millennium Tower on 3rd Rd near Tony's Gym
  13. Binge watching Unbelievable. First couple of episodes are gut wrenching to watch. Five episodes into the series and I'm hooked. Good article (link) on the true story behind this series.
  14. ^^^ Not Netflix, but HBO had the series Boardwalk Empire, a great series also set during the prohibition era.
  15. It's why I stopped posting on Secrets. While Ben owns the forum and content, he showed absolutely no respect to those that had been adding content when he unilaterally decided to nuke all those threads. As you posted, all it would have taken was a heads up that he was going to delete threads in x no. of days. As it happened, he showed exactly how little he thought of the BM's time and effort posting on his forum and I in turn voted with my feet keyboard.
  16. Could be supports for a non-load bearing structure.
  17. Update on the 2nd Rd project to enlarge the storm water drains. From the news yesterday The same place, now with barricades.
  18. Work has started on the pilings for a new building on Soi 15 near Buakhao.
  19. Easy R-Con open sewer project update. They're back... Can't see the guy, but there's a third worker bee down there in the drain line hammering away with a jackhammer. Seems to me it would have been better to take care of clearing the drain lines when the road was tore up, but then again, I'm not Thai so what do I know.
  20. That was during a rough period in the history of HD when AMF owned HD. A good case study of what happens when you let the bean counters control a company's direction. Guaranteed they'll run it into the ground.
  21. At first glance it looked like you have it mounted on the wall.
  22. I rode by M Club last night about 6 pm. Turns out they did open, but other than the lights on and the sacrificial pig cooking, you wouldn't know it was their grand opening party. No greeters outside, no balloons or posters announcing the opening party, and no hype on their FB page. I had other plans so didn't go inside, but will check it out later this week.
