  1. Rightly so when you consider the Prof didn't have Covid 19 when he broke lockdown, unlike the Prime minister's closest advisor when he traveled all the way from London to Durham ffs. Don't forget the timeline, millions of people managed to make sacrifices and follow the guidelines. Might sound contradictory but speaking as a father, if he did what he thought was best for his family then fair fucks to him. Still think he should do the decent thing and resign. He could be back in favour in 3 months .....
  2. There is nowhere I would rather be than in the village right now BUT I know exactly what you are going through mate. Hang in there, it won't be for much longer - don't waste your time, energy and sanity with shit you can't change. 😇😇😇
  3. Perhaps if Lord Ashcroft paid his taxes in UK rather than hiding behind shell companies in tax havens like Belize, he might not be such a smug self serving twat.
  4. I am about 7 miles away from Bistern and half a mile from the Stour at the moment 😀 Wish I was back in the village though, this is coming close to the longest period of time I have been away from the family for the last 12 years.
  5. The park was closed due to Covid 19 restrictions, she should not have been there.
  6. Sorry for your loss Britboy. Thanks for taking the time to post. 😀
  7. Better ask some other BMs mate 😉
  8. No cheap shots, it's not an easy job, he has difficult decisions to make and he is doing his best. Kind of things you say about 9 year kids when they're playing football, not in relation to world leaders and heads of state. Yeah fill your boots Esco, even that leftie, tree hugging, knit your own yoghurt, communist rag the Daily Mail is apparently having a pop today.
  9. Ask someone who works on the frontline in the UK what their opinion of the situation is. I have a junior doctor and a retired doctor who has returned to work during the crisis in my family along with a neighbour who is a care worker. It's the bullshit promises on PPE and testing numbers they have gone from being frustrated to getting angry about. I agree the crisis should not be politicised, however the only way that can be achieved is through transparency and setting achievable goals. Pushing a 3 week old story in the media about an advisor breaking the lockdown on a tragic day when it's revealed the UK has recorded over 30,000 deaths is simply a diversion tactic and an insult to the NHS.
  10. It's almost unbelievable to me how easy a ride the UK government have had from the media and I think many people are pissed off and starting to get angry about it.
  11. Sun rise on the Avon and Kennet canal just outside Hungerford this morning.
  12. Grand Tour I saw the last episode of series 3 last night, was all about the Ford Cortina and I really enjoyed it. Haven't watched any of the shows in chronological order to be honest but I don't actually think it matters. The trip they do in Cambodia is well worth a look see.
  13. Smiler

    So why?

Only ever see it on Thailand forums or repeats of Alan Partridge but for some reason the use of "methinks" grits my shit.
  14. Hang on Evil, the figures quoted by the FT would appear to contradict those in TS's spreadsheet. They can't both be correct...
  15. Mrs smiler is a farmer's daughter and so throwing produce away is kin painful and just plain wrong for her. What with all the mango we grow and the amount people are giving Yai, she has taken to burying them in the garden under the cover of darkness 😕😁
  16. I am not that fond of the type we get here in the supermarket. Have you ever noticed the price of the sweet yellow ones at Swampy?
  17. Good call, can't beat the location. As someone else posted though it's a lot to do with the company you keep and general vibe in whatever bar at any particular time. Enjoyed the Rockhouse last time I was in Pattaya with Alex and @Horizondave
  18. This is my favourite Thai fruit, absolutely love the sweet ones, in fact I am dribbling just looking at the photo 😋 According to Mrs smiler there is a huge over supply of them this year. It's been a bumper crop in our garden (sour or sharp) and down on the farm (wan mak mak). Subsequently the price per kilo has fallen through the floor to as low as 10 baht. Unheard of apparently... Is this just local to Udon or country wide?
  19. This is the sad reality. Some of the videos (posted by Thais in the main) on my Facebook feed over the last 3 or 4 days are frightening in terms of the growing numbers who need help.
  20. Farangs talking in thaiglish to each other - ridiculous.
