  1. Is that new Witherspoons on Beach and Klang in any way connected to the one on Buokow between Chaiapoon and Lengkee? Same owner or manager or a totally different business? Looked nice, be nicer with about half those tables and chairs filled with folks. Hope it can survive until better days.
  2. I watched it further after your segment, so I guess the bar I asked about must be a short walk to Triangle Bar. Chaiyapoon then. Have had a few Guinness and Asahi pints down toward the 2nd Road end at Maggie Mays.
  3. Loved your mock "voice over" for LePub at the end. Better than Howard Miller could have ever done, and none of the irritating reverb that always accompanied his promos on tv. Where is the Assienda Bar located? Pretty nice looking bar and some very attractive ladies. Enjoyable interview Phil, nice job.
  4. You might not be, but your cash sure as hell still is. And that is good enough! 😜
  5. I have to concur with Jambo's view a number of posts back. I've been at home since mid-March, going to work and very little else aside from the trip to the grocery store when provisions run low, like beer and rum. No place to go for a drink, no dining in at restaurants, only take away. Drinking at home is fine, but I miss the atmosphere that a pub offers. I highly enjoy Blue Streak's pics of shop house sized beer bars, no matter if bereft of many customers, the girls on the scene sitting, heads down looking at their phones, oblivious to their surroundings. I have not been to a bar of any kind since Super Bowl weekend, 7 months past. I imagine myself walking down Buokow at a casual pace, eyeballing each beer bar as I approach, checking out the ladies, seeing if there are any waves or tilt of the heads with an invitation to sit down. For a few seconds, I'm transfixed half a world away, remembering passing by those very bars, perhaps under a different name and owner then, and shops one year ago to the day, including the now closed up Pagoda, a wonderful looking bar that featured a sexy afternoon bg I bought a drink for along with a Tiger and a plate of kowphat gung for me. I remember thinking that if I was staying in this area of town for any length beyond a short holiday, I could see myself being a regular in there. Thanks to BS photos here and please continue as you see fit when out and about. Believe me, your efforts are greatly appreciated by this Yank! In this era of closed bars where I live, now more than ever.
  6. I completely agree here! Having a 30 day mandate eliminates a huge percentage of potential tourists right off the top and for the remaining ones, would ANY of them, especially a family, adhere to being basically ordered to remain within the confines to a room, or if allowed, a walk out to the "lovely garden to take in the variety of flowers" instead of endlessly clicking the remote in search of programming besides those dreadful soaps or music vids with sexy women cavorting about, reminding the guy what he is missing out on while being quarantined. Two weeks of that? No sir! I could just stay in my own house and save on having to pay airfare, among other expenses, for the privilege of doing the same 9,000 miles away. No lifting of the quarantine, then I ain't comin'!
  7. So we can assume this now 20 year old field was plowed? 😝
  8. Never met him, but was welcomed by him when I joined up with this board. Sad to hear of his passing, obviously well loved by so many here. I suppose it could be said that through his efforts in creating this board, with members chatting and posting from all over the planet, he literally brought the world together. All in all, in addition to his loving family, not a bad legacy to leave behind. RIP Sir.
  9. While I would stop into Robins from time to time if I had a room in that vicinity of town, I actually preferred Harry Bar, almost right next door. Nice bar and attractive staff, food was reasonable, and since it was 24 hours, you could pop in at 2 or 3 am and might even find a couple FL'ers to discuss some late negotiations. Thought about staying there as they have a lift as well, but was always a bit reluctant with the late night agogo racket echoing through the neighborhood and winding up getting a room facing toward LK. My preferred spot in that area is Sutus Court. Just far enough away from the bar noise to ensure a solid nights sleep...... with or without teelak. Why is it that loud stereo base seems to carry so much further at night than day time?
  10. Now THAT was very cool. 🍻
  11. I walked outside my backyard patio Monday night after midnight to watch the lightning strikes and thunder to the west into the Sacramento Valley. The lightning was being blamed and thousands of acres so far have burned up. Latest news reports was nearly 10,000 people evacuated, a couple hundred homes and structures all gone. Ash is heavy in the air and the sky is a brownish yellow haze hovering over the valley making it tough to breathe. Having to endure many days in a row with over 100 degree temperatures, Tuesday got up to 112 in Sacramento, has made it very challenging. I wish my fellow Californians on the board to stay safe and out of harm's way. And prayers for the firefighters trying to get control of the flames. Still a hard road yet to go.
  12. What I like about this photo is the girls are all dressed without looking like sluts. Unlike other bars, not agogos mind you, where the girls are quite often clad in "come f*** me attire". These girls leave room for the imagination, with just enough spiciness to raise the eyebrow and entice a prospective customer to come on in and have a good time. Sometimes with advertising, it's what doesn't get displayed that can be the drawing card rather than having the goods all laid out. As one who has enjoyed a nice time, both in the bar, and with a couple of the girls' company after, LePub provides a solid mix of attractive ladies with infectious personalities, a sparkle in their eye, a mischievous grin and deadly skills with a cue, as I was humbled a few times while playing pool with one of the girls on my last trip. Pleasant memories for sure and looking forward to return for more, whenever that might be.
  13. Elk Grove is a very desirable area. I heard a few years back that it was the fastest growing school district in the state and number #3 in the country. Must be the nice salaries teachers make from all the property taxes being paid by those $400 thousand dollar and up home owners! He'll be about a 30 minute drive from my area, I'm up toward Roseville. Lots of nice places in Elk Grove to go for a drink and meal, at least once the closures are done with. Who knows when that will be? I'm sure they will love living here as Bay Area transplants. A ton of people from there have relocated here over the last 25 years for the cheaper housing and less traffic, although that has gotten bad as the population has increased. I work a swing shift, 3-11:30 pm, so it's seldom been a problem for me. Tell him congrats from me and welcome to the Valley. He'll need to get used to the heat though. Could get up to 109 this weekend. I ain't leaving the house!
  14. My brother is in the Dept of Corrections and was assigned to the Susanville prison several years ago. When I drove up to visit, I drove through that area on Highway 32 from the Chico area up toward Lassen and through Chester into Susanville. Just a gorgeous part of the state. Those alpine lakes would be much too tempting to pass up without dropping a line in search of a few frying pan sized trout. Another lake not far from there and has a reputation for it's trophy fishing, though not as scenic as Almanor, is Eagle Lake, just north of Susanville. Your wife looked like she was having to time of her life. Was never a fan of KISS, but I bet they put on a great live show. Appreciate the pics, thanks for posting.
  15. So Steelers4Life, when this glorious opus is published and you go on your book tour around the country, if you appear at a Barnes n Noble near me, as a Raider fan for life, could I get my copy autographed? 😜
  16. Case numbers are greater in America because there have been more tests in America than anywhere else, over 61 million as of August 8, 2020, nearly one fifth of the population. I don't believe those China statistics at all. If they tested a similar number of their own population, they would be number one in cases. But since hundreds of millions of Chinese will never set foot outside the border of China, it doesn't matter. I was hoping for booking a trip to Thailand just after Christmas but that looks grim. Figuring now maybe it could be a year later, December of '21. Now considering the Dom Rep as a back up plan but will have to wait and see what's going on there as a curfew is currently in place and the usual joints are either closed or just open for limited hours. For those of us who have planned our lives around foreign travel, which I suppose would include a huge number of members here, this entire Covid-19 situation has been one big, bad dream. Whether you think this is real or phony, a genuine healthcare crisis or a government conspiracy, if you enjoy foreign travel to specific countries for fun and good times, you are at the mercy of that particular countries government requirements for entry pertaining to their Covid-19 protocol. In the meantime, we all just have to wait it out and hope the wait is over sooner rather than later. But reading that news sure doesn't sound promising for a sooner end.
  17. Keith hasn't been doing all that well either for the last 40 years or so! 😜
  18. Nice looking gal, Code. Nothing wrong at all with having a Thai girl who is an actual friend not based on sex. Most here cannot say that. I'm not big on tattoos either, but I bf'd a girl 2-3 times a few years back who had an entire back tat, but the performance in bed was fantastic. Plus, she had a motorbike and I got to ride bitch while wearing a pink helmet as we made our way to my hotel. Gotta be tough to do that, let me tell you! 😝
  19. Thank you Blue Streak for all the work in taking these pics and posting them here. Just a bittersweet reminder why I have been so fond of that town since 1994 when I made my first visit. While the bright lights of Walking Street was, and still is, the epicenter of the nightlife of Pattaya, it is in your very nice photos where the delightful charms of the beer bar welcomed me all those years ago and has kept a firm hold on me ever since. While the agogos have their place and some guys prefer them, give me the atmosphere of a beer bar complex with it's kaleidoscope of neon colors, the girls motioning you to come in and have a "dink", the music playing at an acceptable level for conversation, and being served a reasonably priced beverage while having a look at the scenery in front of you or taking a girl up on a game of pool. Of checking out the staff and eyeballing that someone who strikes your fancy and letting things take a natural pace. Or not. The great thing about a beer bar is that it can offer you the chance to be the life of the party, have a nice time one on one with a girl, have a few laughs with your mates, or simply relax with just your own thoughts to keep you company. Rich, poor or middle class, no matter your ethnicity, your political affiliation, your country or your God, a beer bar welcomes everyone and were all the same.....a customer. Your photo essay showed some very well appointed bars, the owners have obviously put a lot of money into their investment and it's a shame that the customers just aren't there in sufficient numbers to bring a profit for each of them. A far cry from the cluster of square or rectangular shaped bars with only basic customer amenities that were all over the city 25 years back. As a guy who has not been out to a bar in my own city since Super Bowl weekend now over 6 months ago, I admit to missing it a lot. And it is so depressing to read of the Thai government's decisions regarding who is allowed in and when, the "identity" tourism, if you will, they look to be promoting, with those who hold a certain status or position take precedence over the regular tourist just wanting to enjoy a week or two in an inexpensive beach town and won't be shy about doing their fair share in stimulating the local economy. Were here, were anxious, and were waiting. If the Thai government gives the word on reopening without restrictions, we will be there and those bar stools will have fannies in the seats. And everyone will be happy. Especially me!
  20. Aqualung, so sorry to hear of your predicament. Having to cope with the emotional toll already with your mother passing is enough. Throw in the stay at home mandate for the virus which can be a real mental challenge to overcome considering what had recently happened, and then this horrible situation with your niece and her drug problem, I feel empty in knowing that I can't offer you anything except support through the board and that you find a way to get through it. A lot of solid advice has been given and I hope that you're able to possibly make use of some of it to help you out of a very tough spot. Please keep us updated. Were here for you, mate.
  21. Fantastic pic, sexy sailor outfits on the lovely lasses. And even some classic Britney on the big screen in the background wanting it one more time!
  22. I still on occasion watch the old Fleetwood Mac of the Green era on youtube, when they were a blues band. What an incredible talent this guy was. Looking back, it is just remarkable the guitar talent that was playing back in the late 60's in London and throughout England. A proverbial "Who's who" of guitar wizards, and all of them emerging out of the blues scene then. And Peter Green was the equal of any of them. Read some very nice tributes about him from others who appreciated his talent.
  23. A very harsh and depressing read. I just wonder what the suicide rate is and how many deaths by other health reasons have happened in the time that Covid made it's presence felt in Thailand. Seems the cure is worse than the disease itself. Nearly 70 million and a microscopic number who have died. A typical holiday weekend might see more death on Thai roadways.
