  1. So you are allowed time off work (paid) to earn more money doing another job. That sounds like a no brainer and worth doing.
  2. Not bothering to vote. Here in Wales we are only voting for 'Police and Crime Commissioners'. I have no knowledge of the candidates, and, if I am honest, I have no interest.
  3. Remember this one well, was so funny. Another Murdoch paper.
  4. I understand your concern, but I was never questioned by the DL centre about the lack of visa, where I was staying etc., they were just concerned with whether I had a residence certificate and other appropriate documentation. All other documentation was in order and I was directed to just do my tests and watch the obligatory video. I was never worried about the DL office as, for me, as long as I had the residence certificate, I knew I wouldn't have issues later during my appointment. Now this was Pranburi near Hua Hin (for Prachuap Khiri Khan) and I was renewing. It had even been suggested that if I did get the DL renewal, it might only be for 2 years extension. Amazingly, they gave me 5 years from my next birthday, so still 5 years validity from this coming July.
  5. Obviously provincial immigration offices may adopt different criteria. As I mentioned, I got a residence certificate in Hua Hin, despite the fact that I was staying in a condo for only 10 days and arrived into Thailand on a 30 days visa exempt. I believe though, if you get a residence certificate, the Udon driving test centre will issue a driving licence. As long as you have the certificate, the centre should be happy to issue a new or renewed licence, they should just be concerned you have the right paperwork.
  6. I am off to do 30 minutes on the treadmill at 6kph (not quite up to 6mph). Then about 30 minutes of fixed weights. Would be walking up my ridge for about 2 hours total, but the weather here in Wales is yet again wet and miserable. I do agree though that my fitness regime is better suited to walking distances rather than pushing weights. Seem to lose more weight when upping the walking.
  7. Yep, had my heating turned on this morning. Needed to warm the walls and rid the windows of condensation, keeping me warm was secondary but welcome.
  8. They were indeed. Kevin Ayers as well on line up. Can't remember the other bands. It was a time when I was trying to be the man and I smoked a few St Moritz menthol cigarettes, that combined with crisps, bananas, sandwiches and coca cola, made me as sick as a dog. It required a trip to the toilets well away from the concert venue, and by the time I got back an area was being kept well away from by those watching, I suppose vomit isn't something people want to be near to. I do remember people shouting 'Wally' a lot, may be that was directed at me. A lot of cans of fizz or beer were being thrown, we were odd in the 70s.
  9. Yes, nights is a completely different way of life. When I came back to live in the UK back in 2018, I took a job with a food delivery company and I drove a 5 ton van at night. Started work at midnight, initially driving around London and then, later, to driving all around Newbury, Swindon and Basingstoke. Thought it would be easy but it takes a while to get used to. There were a few embarrassing times, when I first started, that I fell asleep at traffic lights for just a few moments. Usually alone on the street but occasionally a car horn woke me up. Luckily never fell asleep while driving but came close. Got used to it and began to enjoy but it completely screws up your social life or family life. Wouldn't do it again.
  10. Seen them quite a number of times . First time was 1970 in Hyde Park London, doing Atom Heart Mother. It was then a few years till I saw them do Pulse in 1994. Going to see the Australian Pink Floyd in Swansea in November, they are one of the better cover bands and play only in large venues as their road show is quite large.
  11. As much as I love Neil Diamond, I have been watching the Pink Floyd night on Sky Arts
  12. Can't stand whisky, ever since a bad experience back around 1975. It was the office Christmas party of British European Airways at West London Terminals. Back then PC was something you bashed keys on and woke was something you did in the morning. It was a crazy party with girls and guys popping off into different meeting rooms for fun and copious amounts of booze were being imbibed. I was drinking coke as I was driving, I had my drink next to me while chatting to a lovely lady. Some bastard swapped my drink for full tumbler of whisky: I picked up my drink and took a great swig and almost vomited at the taste. It took me 2 years to even be near the smell of whisky, I hate the stuff. Even went to the Penderyn Whisky distillery, here in Wales with a couple of members about 3 years ago. After the tour we were offered a couple of glasses of whisky, even had a choice of what we preferred. For once I just thought I would try a sip of the sample that had been aged in a port barrel (I love port), but even that was too much, I hated it. One of the guys had both my glasses. I have tried Blend 285 with loads of coke, I can just about drink that, but I doubt that drink comes close to what a real whisky tastes like.
  13. Brilliant show, used to watch it as a kid. Used to think Elly Mae was gorgeous. She died aged 81 in 2015.
  14. You want to read what you wrote Gazza, funny.......lol
  15. Love Lamai, miss the place. Be happy to know if the Irish Pub is open nearby, always a good time when a band is on. It was closed when i was there. I also spend most of my time sitting watching the band at Speed Lounge right in the centre of town. Enjoy.
  16. Only if my mate pays for my flight to Thailand to help him move the damned thing lol
  17. That actually is quite sad but so true.
  18. I travel on 14 May so shouldn't see any issues for my travels.
  19. I did get Tramadol when I was in Thailand but the active ingredient comes in different doses and I think it was quite small compared to what I got on prescription in UK. I could get more boxes but the pharmacy would only give me a couple without prescription.
  20. Fares might be even more competitive if BA decided to resume those flights daily, and from Heathrow. I don't particularly like Gatwick, and I am sure many others from north of London are not too thrilled about a Gatwick departure. Still, it is something that I was really happy to see come to fruition and it now offers a better choice for all of us.
  21. The silver car did stop but he saw the Swiss guy already crossing, the white car just felt he had right of way and probably didn't see the Swiss guy till he hit him. Maybe the silver car wanted to turn right, he was in the correct lane. Its just Thailand and with no traffic lights it really is a lottery as to who has right of way. The Swiss guy just looks like he was 'eyes front' and driving across that intersection whatever. Just a really sad situation which happens many times a day in Thailand due to lack of driving skills, bad luck and lack of awareness.
  22. From the video it is only evident that the white car hit the Swiss man. It appears the Swiss man just drove across the road without looking and the white car assumed right of way. I can only say that, 'this is Thailand', and apportioning blame may be a difficult pursuit by the Swiss man's partner. The white car had probably been driving down that railway road alt the way from the number 7 turn off, and just was assuming he had right of way at every junction unless blocked. The only thing that would have stopped him would be if other traffic in front had come to a halt to allow other traffic across, otherwise they would just carry on driving without slowing down. That is why most of us crossing those sections, do so, with very cautious awareness. I always gave way if seeing traffic bearing down on me Just a very sad situation.
  23. Co Codamol worked great for me although it really got me constipated which is problematic in itself. Acupuncture worked well for me on two occasions.
