  1. I'll look out for that,I've read Bill Wyman's,albeit a long time ago,Keith Richard's,Roger Daltrey's & Tony Iommi's.All were really good.
  2. I've just finished Bruce Dickinson's autobiography.I'm not an Iron Maiden fan but it is a good read.Heavy metal lead singer & airline pilot, also flies his own WWI replica Fokker Triplane at airshows. Some guys just have too much talent!....Also survived a serious bout of cancer.
  3. In the UK I tend only to use cash in pubs or on the very rare occasion I get a taxi. In Thailand I use cash for everything except hotel payments.I try to only take with me enough for the night plus a bit extra.Probably stems from being mugged in 1981. In Romania I used to use cash but now have a Santander Zero card which does not charge for overseas payments.Use cash for taxis.
  4. We live in the UK so buying half decent vino is not a problem.Every now & then Sainsbury's or Waitrose will have a 25% off for 6 bottles or more & there are always some that are already discounted. The 25% off is from the already discounted price.Last time was Sainsbury's & I bought 24 bottles,12 red & 12 white.Mostly French but also some Aussie,Kiwi & South African. Sometimes I buy a case online from Virgin Wines, been buying from them for over 10 years & never been disappointed. They sell Chilean reds from Perez Cruz, absolutely lovely but it's listed at £19.99.Every once in a while they'll have it discounted to £11.99 & that's the only time I buy it.
  5. I used to eat a lot from Morrisons salad bars when I was away working, usually a great choice & fresh.
  6. I've just bought my ticket for the Watford vs Crystal Palace FA Cup quarter final-at £14 for the most expensive stand is a bargain.Sometimes it's good to be an OAP. Now off to play snooker.
  7. A true giant of music has passed away,RIP Andre Previn. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-17342940
  8. Peter Tork from the Monkees has died. I used to like the Monkees....RIP
  9. Just ate a huge spag bol & on the last glass of a lovely Frog Claret.
  10. I had a fiver on Son,Benzema & Sancho all to score at 22-1.Trust an ex-Watford player to let me down.
  11. Me in my very first car....Not sure why there are 2 pics....?? Edit Fixed for you
  12. I was in Pattaya a couple of times in the 80's when a carrier & a few escort ships anchored in the bay.Not sure how many hit the beach at once but it seemed like thousands. They always took some back in boxes & once a Captain was found with his throat cut in the Royal Cliff.Another time a guy pulled a Thai cops pistol from his holster so the other Thai cop there shot him dead. But by and large they were well behaved and there were some very large shore patrol guys carrying large nightsticks if they weren't.
  13. Flew Oman Air LHR-BKK & back in 2010 & got caught up in the volcano in Iceland closing European airspace. Unlike most airlines Oman Air put us up in a hotel in BKK. Had 7 nights full board in the Radisson,a very nice experience indeed. I worked for over 8 years in Oman, nice country & nice people.
  14. My car in the UK is an MB E500 Sport,5461cc of pure joy.I turned 65 last year & said that when I retired I'd sell it as it's expensive to tax(£540pa currently) but I'm still working occasionally & I love the car.It was a year old when I bought it & I've had it for 7 years now, longer than I've owned any car. It's quite a rarity as well. The bike is an FXDX I've had since new in 2003.I've done lots of work(& spent a small fortue)to it,including stage 2 bore out to 1550cc & getting the heads gas flowed.Considerably faster than when new & it handles better than most Harleys. For the first few years the missus would refer to it as "your # 1 wife". The pick up is what we drive in Thailand, handles like a barge but I like the feeling of plenty of metal around me on Thai roads.
  15. Back in 2000 I was working at the BAe plant at Woodford & I would go into Holmes Chapel from my digs in the evening for a feed & some ale. Always got the same cab back to my digs,an old Merc limo driven by a really nice old guy. One night he's going really slowly & I quickly realised it was because he wanted to tell me a story. He'd picked up a fare in Stoke for a return trip to Wembley & it turned out to be Gordon Banks, going down to Wembley for the closure of the old stadium. He said GB sat in the front & they chatted all the way down & when they got there he invited him to have lunch with him in the stadium. It was when they were selling off all the memorabilia & the old cab driver ate lunch sat between GB & Pele with all the other surviving legends also there. I thought it was a really nice story & showed Gordon Banks to be a really nice bloke. & a truly great goalkeeper!
  16. Steak & veg pie,was superb....she made cheese sticks with the left over pastry & I just ate all of them....
  17. Sunday lunch, cooked by 'er indoors & bloody lovely....washed down with a nice Chilean red
  18. Brought back some great memories so thanks for posting.I did much the same trip way back in 1981.
  19. I worked in Romania for six months a couple of years ago & developed a serious taste for Rom beer.I live in England & get my beer from any of the many Rom shops which have opened in the past few years. The one pictured is a bargain at 2.5L for £4.50.It's 5% alcohol & fucking lovely!
  20. My English ain't too hot after 8 pints either mate!
  21. If only they sold beer at the Wimbledon temple, would make a fortune!
