  1. I'd opt for a motorbike taxi over a car if my destination was into an area of traffic condition, weather permitting of course.
  2. Looks good in the pictures, but the reality is it would soon be a rusted out eyesore. After all they couldn't maintain and keep a simple wooden walkway in decent repair, can't imagine how they could manage that with a complicated cable car system. There's also the matter of who in their right mind would want to be cooped up in an enclosed box with no A/C for the duration of the trip to the other end.
  3. Bumping the events topic with the car show event tomorrow. https://thepattayanews.com/2022/12/16/pattaya-car-on-the-beach-to-hit-the-city-on-december-17th
  4. I'm puzzled as to why you had to make the trip Immigration as it is the responsibility of the landlord for handling the preparation and filing of the TM30 as well as going to Immigration to get the official document if the online system doesn't provide one. That's how my Thai landlord handled it. It was also funny to hear her grumbling about Thai bureaucracy when she got back from immigration and handled me the slip that I keep in my passport.
  5. I've used Bolt a few times with only one poor experience. That was a motorbike hire. I've ridden motorbike taxis many times and never felt unsafe with any of them, but the Bolt guy was some random somchai earning extra income with his motorbike. I could tell he was not that experienced and felt unsafe riding with him. For that reason I would advise sticking to car hires.
  6. Your clue through me for a loop. I saw the tall building in the background as I passed it yesterday morning on my ride to the everything store behind Central Marina. After we met for coffee in the afternoon I scoured the road and alley between 2nd and 3rd Roads and couldn't find the big guy standing guard. It was only when I turned on to 3rd Rd that I found it. So technically not "between" the two roads, but on 3rd Rd.
  7. It's like I fell down the rabbit hole looking on Soi P.O. for the place in question, when in fact it's one soi over on Soi Yamato (13/1).
  8. Thanks to Google Image search was able to put a name to the tree. Couroupita guianensis, also known as the Naga Linga Tree, or Cannonball Tree. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Couroupita_guianensis
  9. You scooped Pattaya News. Threpprasit Road to conduct paving project from December 13th to the 24th to fix raised storm drains, Pattaya City officials advise to choose other routes
  10. Using Street View's image archive, the oldest image was from Oct 2012. Business then was for sale, but was a coffee and beer place. Too bad the Pattaya Photo Guide that predated Street View is no longer available, it would probably have an earlier photo that would give a clue as to the meaning of the lion.
  11. Done here in Thailand at the same time I had my Thai Will drawn up. Like you my Thai based assets go to my LT partner here. My US will specifies my US assets, which are now all monetary after the sale of my home in June, go to my two children.
  12. Yes, an easy one. Sculpture on Beach Rd opposite Soi half dozen.
  13. I avoid buffets, not because of the cost, but because I lack the self-control to not pig out and get as much food into me to justify the price paid.
  14. The DNR is covered in a Living Will. On mine I have two other western friends listed as well as my partner. I figured they would be less hesitant about pulling the plug than my lady.
  15. Good clue. From your pic it looks like they've replaced the old worn out pics on the front that are shown in Street View.
  16. Yep, certifiable. I should know, I'm one of those that uses my bicycle almost exclusively to get around during the day. You do have to keep your wits about you and your head on a swivel. Riding a bike isn't for everyone of course, but not a big deal if you're comfortable on two wheels.
  17. I take it you're referring to this stub of concrete in your earlier pic. I believe that is the base for the yet to be installed electric junction box for the buried utility lines.
  18. Anyone want to adopt a puppy? He's easy to please, just leave an expensive camera within reach as a chew toy.
