  1. Few more my buddy sent me this morning...
  2. 2 years ago when I was 65 back in Calif, I had the "double header" of scopes. I had an " Endoscopy" and a "Colonoscopy" both at the same location. Agree with Gord, the prep work, the strict eating policy etc. is worse then the actual procedures I think. Obviously being sedated, never knew what was happening. Both procedures went well, no issues and very happy to get this done. Of course wifey drove me home, was groggy to say the least. She told me I was talking like I was "Dlunk"
  3. Fashion Island Mall always has some "event" going on downstairs. Always fun to look, Mr.Owl was giving me the stink eye Sat afternoon.
  4. Friend of mine sent me this.....like all of the colors.
  5. Yeah OK, a little over the top but......the kid comes out in all of us at times LOL! I took my Son when he was like 14 years old with some friends back in San Jose, Calif many years ago to see "The Undertaker" at SAP Arena right? That particular night he was taking on "The Rock" in the main event. He always came out to this extravaganza....I tell you his entrance is impressive....no fire that night, but it was worth every penny. Love his sidekick "Paul Bearer" too. I tried to learn how to roll my eyes back in my head.....I failed miserably. This is one big dude.....I will hire him to be my security team, when I am downtown on my next tour....The Nigerians will stay far away from me 💪
  6. I was only 10 years old when this was released.....god only knows why I was watching this, all time classic.
  7. Interesting to say the least Steve......I personally have never been told by wifey especially, NOT to talk to the Police and she would obviously know. Perhaps your Brother In Law could clarify to you why he did what he did. Now, I think most of us have common sense, and know better not to walk up on the local Police, when they are doing their business, but just a few weeks back, wifey and I were at an open market here, one was directing traffic, as I walked by, he reached out to shake my hand! I thought that was cool. I always try to say something to them when appropiate.
  8. Why is this just limited to Pattaya? I have never heard one word of any such requirement here in the suburbs in Bangkok? Just curious... Wifey even talked to her friend who is my agent....no such requirement she says.
  9. Geez...the way our boyhood idols are aging, I could walk right past these guys these days and maybe not even recognize them! Yeah I know, I don't look the same way I did back in 1977 either 🙁
  10. Still one of the all time great progressive bands in my opinion. I have been so lucky to see these guys when they were in their prime for 40 years. Seems like yesterday, this particular tour in 2001 with the orchestra was unbelievable. Saw this exact same show in Reno, Nevada. Steve Howe's slide guitar on his solos at 5:28 and 10:37 still gives me chills today, saw him so many times do "And You and I" and it just never ceases to amaze me at how good he still is. Old people like me.....like living in the past at times LOL! Is it too early to ask wifey to load the bong for me? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wygdzRPsJa0
  11. Oh Glass, this would have been a much better choice to be inducted to I think......RIP to Chris Squire and Alan White.
  12. I liked the 8.7% we got last year....but any increase certainly helps right?
  13. HH is nice, matter of opinion of course. It was between Phuket and HH this year for NYE..Phuket won out this year.
  14. Is that The Westin Grand Sukhumvit in the background? The place with the rooftop bar? We are staying there Feb 3rd/4th to see Coldplay.
  15. Where will this be if you don't mind me asking? Living in a nice condo instead of a shantytown does not sound too bad for me, unless there are other reasons that you don't want to talk about here....which I understand. All the best to you in either case huh..
  16. Not sure EXACTLY what this was last night but..it was good. Vegetables of many kinds I think.
  17. Wifey and I both have health coverage through "AIA" here....I can attest to the fact that in Jan 2016 when I got it, there was no "waiting period" at all. Got a physical here the following week, and have continued to do so every Jan when here.
  18. Last night, Tilapia with Fried Rice. Am kind of surprised how good the Tilapia is here. Very well priced too at The Gourmet Market here.
  19. Good thread, some great reads here to see how everyone that is currently retired are doing, how they got there and their decision to pull the trigger when they decided to do it. In my case, I did 38 years in “Tech” in Silicon Valley. Worked in Marketing, got to do quite a few trips to Asian countries over my time. Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia. Philipines and Thailand was where I visited the most. 13 years at “Intel” and that is where I met wifey back in 1999 as we opened a “Sales/Marketing Support” office here in Bangkok. Worked for some good companies and some bad ones over the years. Like alot of you have said, I kind of miss the “camaraderie” amongst friends you have met and I met quite a few nice people over my time. But…when a few of us reached 55 years old, my best friends and I, at a boys night out one evening for dinner/drinks, we all reached the conclusion that the long hours, the long phone calls to Asia, not getting out of the office until 7:00pm at times, getting to the gym at 8:00pm for a 1 hour workout was taking a toll on all of us, and this kind of pace at that age was not sustainable. I decided that i was going to give it 5 more years, and at age 60, 7 years ago, called it a career. Certainly, having an opportunity to give marriage a second try was a big factor and thankfully has worked out quite nicely. Moving here to Thailand, has been fun, some challenges, but I am happy here and wifey has made it easy for me to be successful and the transition has gone smoothly. After spending 4 years with her back in Calif recently, I look back on the time that I had to “commute” from my home, seeing Hwy 101 and Hwy 85 and I just don’t know how I did it. Complete gridlock in the city now… I will never be bored, I am just not that type and always have things that I do and like to do. Yes there are some “slow days” in retirement, but not many, as neither of us are the “sit at home types” with our phones in our faces all day or laptop you know. Got out at a good time, sure I probably could have done it sooner, but am loving this lifestyle…. both my kids both got their degrees, are successful and I don’t have to worry about them at all and they don’t need my help at all…financially or otherwise… Looking forward to continue to work on my health and staying financially strong are big priorities for us these days.
  20. @Pumpuynarak I hate young guys, they have better cars then most of us.....my Son's Benz....it's not fair LOL! Your Son will "score" driving that baby around...Audi makes a great product these days...real popular in USA.
  21. Dam Gord, is it normal even in your area to get this much snowfall this early in October? Get me a "prozac" I would be depressed LOL!
  22. Just got an e-mail from Wells Fargo, confirmed for $37.06, money is on its way here. Cool..
  23. Sad day for Thailand indeed. Been there many times....wifey tells me he has "issues" Was involved in video games that depict shooting etc with friends.
