Butch
China again using very strong rhetoric regarding it's determination to unify with Taiwan "peacefully". Is this the same "peacefully" we saw when China went against the re unification agreement with Hong Kong?. The USA has promised to protect and aid Taiwan, but if I'm not mistaken, this decision needs to be approved by Congress under Biden's administration.(maybe someone can clarify that point for me ) https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/10/9/xi-vows-taiwan-reunification-but-holds-off-threat-of-force Bloomberg has an interesting article on it as well: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2020-10-07/here-s-what-could-happen-if-china-invaded-taiwan
Freee!!
As far as I know, Taiwanese law is still also based on unification - after the defeat of those bloody communists. Taipei is also still only a temporal capital until the government can move to Beijing again.
forcebwithu
In a CNN article there was this quote "Xi said on Saturday he wanted to see peaceful reunification occur under a "one country two systems" policy, similar to that used in Hong Kong". Yeah, that's working just great for Hong Kong. 1
