Here's the video 40 minutes condensed into 6,a lot of times i had to use my hands so was impossible to hold torch and film.

Up in kanchanaburi now, visited hellfire pass and some caves yesterday, walked to the end of hellfirepass, lots of Bush fires, captive cave, lawa cave, and another cave also visited, walked around 30klms,on the road from 6,30 am to 6pm was a long day,off in 20 minutes to visit some more caves and temples, beautiful here tho, post pics later.

It was bloody freezing yesterday morning driving to hellfirepass, until about 9am anyway, that was with a jacket on,was on a nmax scooter.

Any idea how it got it's name, "Hellfire Pass" ? Sounds like something from Nam where a lot of folks ended up six feet under.

Sure I read something to do with the small fires each team of 2 would burn at night while digging and cutting,it looked like hell.

Lawa cave was a fair drive to get to it,again nobody else there,300bht entrance to army ranger at gate, but I thought it was amazing so didn't mind, ran almost 500m deep, and most section had light tho you still needed a torch, the bats were so close as ceiling is very low in that section, you have the choice to continue or explore their chamber whi h I did to get close.

The tiger temple about 45 minutes drive from kanchanaburi was pretty dissapointing, full of tour groups, small cave rammed with Buddha statue s and what have you,a monk was splashing the tourist who had payed 20 bht for the blessing, apparently a family of tigers once lived in yhe cave,I think the big Buddha is the main draw,I don't recommend going for the cave.

Have never seen a boat/ship docked at the pier before.

Looks to be military too.

Reminds me.... I have been meaning to ask if any folks there, the past week or so have seen any of the Nimitz Taskforce ?

Glad to see it is not too busy.  My mate has told me the bars are not as busy now but they will perk up again in July/August. Hopefully when I am there in September it will get quieter again.

I will be taking the 0730 bus from the airport as my flight lands at 0535, a bit early but plenty to do when I drop my bags off before checking in.

Love seeing photos from the Hua Hin area. Thanks

It's very busy through the back where they have much more tables and a band playing.

There few and far between, seen a much bigger one docked at the very end of the pier twice before, this one's a much smaller one,I'm sure I heard they go between sattahip and Prachuap bases with this being kinda half way stopping point ,there is a small naval base right of the pier.

Had a wee run to kao tao to hike up the rock and visit the Chinese temple, still not finished making the new walkway, not much difference from last December, bought a pair of 900bht hiking shoes, when I tightened them upon first using the rubber tussle holding the lacers together snapped 😳 I expect the glue and sole to come away next, just for local hike s,off to cha am soon, see if they have completed new central pier yet.

The Khao Tao hill and temple area is where my mate got attacked by monkeys. That was December 2021, the damage done in the attack had left him almost crippled and unable to walk far without pain, he finally had a hip operation last Tuesday to repair a lot of the damage, it will be the knee next.

He has vowed never to walk that hill again.

Did he have to go through rabies shots as well ?
