Cruise Ship Fire

Recommended Posts

Reading this news report I got to wondering why we don't read more news reports of fires on ships caused by lightning strikes. Part of the reason I know is built into ships are measures to direct the energy from a strike into the water to avoid damage to the ship.

Fire extinguished on Carnival Freedom cruise ship after witnesses reported possible lightning strike

I did a search on YT for video of the fire and two things became quickly apparent. One is the list of videos had the same ship with a fire on the opposite, starboard, funnel from a year ago. The second is in the latest video of a fire on the port side funnel you can hear the guy saying "it's amazing, it's on fire again". I suspect there's more to this story than what is being reported in the latest news article.

Once bitten, twice shy methinks.

Obviously no one bothered to investigate why they suffered the first strike, or it's more random than otherwise thought!

Never have considered going on one. Absolute floating pool of disease.

Ditto if it is one of those 1-4 week cruises that people normally associate with cruises.

But I might go on a mini cruise on a ferry in the Baltic Sea, but that is usually no more than 24-48 hours, back and forth between two or three cities. Should limit the chance of getting the buffet variant of escrementi espressi.

I'd rather cruise out of the Inner Baltimore Harbor on a container ship.

I went on a 3 day cruise Sing-Penang-Sing a few years ago. I didn't see much disease except for a few cases of scurvy, but that's normal on such a voyage. Casino operating 24 hrs a day (let's not alert golfingboy)

Golf Boy would be a gonner. One of the few vices I have never been cursed with.

I will never forget the story about the cruise that had the sewage overfull and people were stuck on the ship for about a week.

Fcuk that. Disease factories full of drunken assholes. Actually, I would probably fit right in.
