For those of us who have been absent from LOS - any change in routine for the next trip?

I hope this comes true for you soon mate.

EDIT = And of course yesterday was the anniversary of a special day. We have an obligation in life to give our children love, affection and a peaceful future no matter what colour your kerb stones are painted!

Anniversary of a special day alright, was my birthday, though out today at our favourite Thai restaurant in London celebrating it.

I don't see that we will change our routine except for what is changed by the facilities, transport, infrastructure etc that exists in Thailand during our stay.

Even if there is no Test and Go (July) we will stay in a hotel in Bangkok for the night, we will then possibly head to Khon Kaen so Porn and Kataleya can see their relatives. We are booked in the M Hotel in Chiang Mai for 4 days in late July and hopefully the restaurants, street market, Doi Suthep etc will be open to visit. I will head off to the Philippines to enjoy Angeles, Barrio Barretto and Puerta Galera for about 10 days and then head back to Thailand to meet with Porn and Kataleya and head to Hua Hin for 10 days.

Again as long as Hua Hin is open, the Food Court on soi 88 is open, pick ups are available to rent, restaurants are open, beaches are open, swimming pools are open then all will be good.

We may go to some bars but hopefully the bars will be open without issue, the only bars I care to be open for my visit will be Le Pub and the Rockhouse if I visit Pattaya for a few days. Other than that I don't see the routine changing from any other holiday I have with family.

I think we won't be sidetracked, disappointed or inconvenienced from what we would normally be doing.

It's good to hear the M Hotel in Chiang Mai has survived the ongoing upheaval. I stayed there quite a few times over the years. The location is perfect. Rooms facing the back looking towards the old city are quieter than the rooms facing Tha Pae Gate.

Being as the thread is about a change in routine ..... what is your "normal" routine.. Shit in the shower and not shave?......

Nothing so adventurous, just the standard sh*t, shower and shave. I must admit, sh*t in the shower could save time.

Probably little change in routine from before. I always like to get up reasonably early, have breakfast and do sight-seeing stuff especially in BKK. After a few days on the ground in BKK I usually then do a trip somewhere else in Thailand or neighbouring countries. Next trip Nakhon Phanom in the far north-east by the Mekong is one of my intended destinations and possibly Mukdahan. Then a few days in Pattaya before spending the last few days back in my beloved Bangkok.

Only difference this time is it will be my first trip since giving up drinking. I will miss getting that little alcoholic buzz on and I may find it a bit challenging sitting in the bars with a soft drink but the buzz of the ladies will still be there. I'll just have to spend less time in the bars and more time in the hotel enjoying the carnal delights that may offer themselves to a man of modest prosperity and large girth in his evening meanderings in the Tropics.

I'm the same I have looked at TF and Tinder when in LOS , but have never used it to contact anyone .. I prefer the bar scene and meeting in person, I'm usually happy with my decisions, although alcohol has clouded my judgment on a few occasions... 🙃 555

I don't even do the bars much anymore.

I am talking about the occasional sighting on a typical walk about. Either seizing on it in real time, or doing a short interview obtaining contact info. for a later "meeting".

Ditto - visiting Mrs Bob's family in Isaan, and then visiting a few friends for a day or two each who live all over Isaan.  Then Bangkok to visit Mrs Sister and do some shopping and whatever comes to mind.  Maybe also get a few games of golf in here and there. I sure miss a few things - especially the cheap Thai food places and the Japanese Sushi restaurants.

Judging by the Junta's decision to keep making money from Covid tests and compulsory quarantine in expensive hotels and Thailand Pass rubbish - it will be several months before we even start planning our next visit.  We left in January 2020 last time - normally we go in Feb/March - got lucky there.  Probably July/August this year?

Yes we are hoping to be there Sept October

Last trip I discovered a old type English pub/ restaurant ( remember what off the beaten track I found it) had things like gammon reminded me of when I sentenced to a couple of years in a English school and we had awesome school lunches

In all seriousness, the one thing i'm really looking forward to is seeing my lovely little wife run up and give her mum and Dad a big giant hug, and then getting our daughter to do the same.

Been 2 and a half years since she seen them, in that time her older brother has died, and her parents who are in their 70's have been in and outta hospital a few times. Nothing overly serious, but as said they're in their 70's. I had been worried incase anything serious did happen or worse before we could get back. They're lovely, lovely people, just like their daughter.

And their grand daughter was only 2 and half last time they seen her, just a toddler. Now she's 5 and a little girl with her own personality, they'll see a big difference.

My wife doesn't want to go herself, so we're all booked for May. Even if restrictions didn't ease anymore i'd now go, but hopefully there will be April and May 'easing' by the time we leave end of May.

Gonna be updating this in a week ...
