visa for thai gf to uk

no judging plz.whats the latest requirements for visa for a thai gf to come to uk and price.it better to do it urself or use one of the visa offices and list of who is the one every seems to use to get visas.

Did the visitor visa three times before getting the spouse visa to relocate.

Can't remember all the costs involved for documents, translations etc., but on each occasion I was living in Thailand at the time, so it was easier to get all the documents, visit the Visa Centre with the gf and get all the translations etc. If I was not living in Thailand, I would have used an agent.

It is quite stressful but the main reason Thais get knocked back is the fact that there is no real evidence that the Thai will return to Thailand once their UK visit is over. As I was living in Thailand at the time it was easier to show a need to return to Thailand.

You will also need to show longevity in the relationship through photos, mobile phone records, evidence that you have been together for a period of time. No evidence of a genuine relationship (despite a long period together) will see the visa knocked back. I remember being at the Trendy building seeing guys who had done no homework and thought they could just apply and get their girlfriend to the UK on just the application form alone. They had no evidence of a relationship beyond a verbal confirmation.

There is very good detailing of requirements on the Government website (link below). Info can also be gained from other agents websites as below which are worth reading. Once you have  read a few of these sites, you will get a good idea of what is needed..

https://visalist.io/united-kingdom/visa-requirements/thailand

https://www.thethailandlife.com/uk-visitor-visa-thai-partner

https://www.gov.uk/visa-fees

I am thinking of getting the wife's mother over for a holiday and we were quoted 15000 baht to organise the visa via an agent and another 5000 for the visa. I believe the visa fee is USD130 for a 6 month visitor visa if buying it yourself.

I only want the mother over so I can take a month or so away, never able to get away with wife working and child at school. Mother doing school run will be a boon for me lol

It's been a while since I did it, but I used a Thai consultant. Fairly straight forward but bank details and accomadation proof etc were required. The second part of a 2 year marriage visa was more complicated and more costly.

Don't know how much has changed from then

Great info from H Dave as above.

Presumably @thunder367 will need to sponsor the lady unless she has the financial means to apply on her own terms. Need to show sponsorship for accommodation and financial means to support the lady. Always advised not to book tickets until visa is granted so worth applying as soon as possible. Worth downloading application for to see what is required.

Wow, this brings back memories from some 15 years ago when I’m sure it was far easier. We used an agent friend who submitted the app but I did all the research and compiled the documents- at that time Thai Visa was useful as well as talking to those who had done it.

the above info from @Horizondave is spot on. Also, present all your docs in a detailed and easy to read format section by section which makes those viewing it job much easier

good luck with it 👍

I hope it's OK to rake up an old thread rather than start off anew !!

We are still undecided when, or if, we will be going back to UK for a 3 week holiday .. or if M'Lady will be coming at all.

Does somebody have a recommendation for an agent?

- She has been to UK twice before with her previous husband.

- She has her own small widow's pension from UK.

- We will use either of my sons' addresses.

At the moment it is pure speculation whether she goes or not but I'm interested in the current costs ..

BINGO, i'm thinking of taking wifey back for a last visit.

Well...be prepared for a shock !!!

Yesterday I received a PM from a BM on here. It is up to him if he chooses to do the same for you.

After I read that mail I did a little on-line research and the common pricing among agents was 30,000 Baht..Key Visa even uses the ghost of Darren to handle things personally.. Can't get better service than that eh !!

With a trip into Bangkok including travel and hotel, plus the Visa itself I'd be looking at over 1,000 quid.

I have done the application twice before with ease by myself but the first was in '97, the second was at a British Embassy in an African country so neither experience is relevant today.

EDIT = And I have sent Som an email too of course ..

Great info mate, many thanks. I've done myself back in 2010 and by christ i vowed i'd never do it again hence we have'nt been back since lol but at my time of life with health issues i'm thinking its now or never.

My life long love affair with Hampshire Premier Football Club Colden Common FC who i played for, managed and was Chairman of until my move to Thailand is going to ground share with Winchester City FC starting in October this year on a new all weather pitch so i really want to see the new setup. We've missed out on promotion many times cos our ground was'nt up to Wessex League ground requirements but now sharing at WCFC ground its no problem.

I'm just getting to be a lazy bastard now and i'm looking to keep away from anything that could cause me grief and obtaining a visa for my wifey of 17 years will no doubt cause issues, WTF i don't know.............

Perhaps we should get a rubber dinghy lol

You are inside the 70 mile limit for a free taxi with Emirates Business Class!

I am considering doing it as far as the Premier Inn in Marlborough then get my sons to pick me up after a night's kip and a damned good wirebrush of my arse clinkers from travelling!!

This is probably my last hoorah too!!

I used Paul Aslett and his company Thai Visa Express this was back in 2007 and I found him to be very easy to deal with. His offices are on Soi 15 off Soi Bukhow opposite the Amethyst Hotel. This LINK to his website will give you his full pricing structure and a No Visa No Fee guarantee.

P.S. just noticed the thread is an old one :default_blush:

Yep ... he fits in with my previous investigation last Sunday ..

I wonder if other countries expect applicants to find their way to Bangkok from Ubon, Chiang Mai, Phuket or "the islands"... :default_dry:

Hi Pump.

Even after 17 years of marriage to a Thai lady, are you still having to jump through hoops to get a tourist visa for her?

She's visited before I believe so I don't understand paying an agency the best part of £900 to gain a visa.

What was so difficult on your first application?

How long have you got ? LOL Why oh why are the British government making me jump through all these hoops when wifey and i have been married for 17 years and living together for 17 years in Thailand, all we want to do is visit family and friends and then return to our house in Thailand, the DWP and HMRC have our Thailand address ?

Its a no brainer imo

What was so difficult on your first application?

I would willingly pay an agent to prevent wifey and i having to attend VFS Global in Bangers or the Agent's office but it looks like we will have to attend one or the other so little to be gained, i don't have any problem complying with ALL requirements.

Now our previous application in 2010 was rejected but our subsequent application was approved. Reason for rejection was that proof of certain requirements was missing from the file i had diligently put together. We were asked to come back in 3 months by the clerk dealing with wifey and resubmit our application as we were applying 6 months in advance (reason being think securing airline tickets) The clerk informed us that everthing was in order and we would'nt have any problem getting the visa. Now i explained to the clerk that we lived in Korat and it was a long way to Bangers (7 hours return) so could she see her way to deal with our application NOW and not make us return. There was nothing in the rules to say we could'nt apply 6 months prior to our visit so i insisted she deal with it NOW which she duly did but was clearly unhappy with the farang telling her what to do.

So what did she do ? She removed 3 items of proof from the pack i put together knowing that the application would be rejected and how did i know she removed 3 items ? cos they returned the pack to me and the 3 proof items were missing.

What a bitch ? lesson learned by the farang, don't ever trust a Thai lol

I'm in Britain at the moment for my annual 6-week penance, and as far as I can see it's just chilly, cloudy and overpriced, I wouldn't waste money bringing the GF here, she'd be bored sh*tless within two days. And starving as there's no Thai restaurant anywhere near. This is the view over the Welsh Riviera in Porthcawl, I grew up here and even I find it dull these days...

IMG20240906152044.jpg

The visa nonsense would prevent it anyway, we've been a thing for around 17 years but have no desire to live together, let alone get married. She's never had 'proper' employment or paid any Thai income taxes, Buddha forbid (shades of the latest taxation of evil farangs foolishness). And she's sufficiently free-spirited that it wouldn't surprise me a lot if she did jump ship while we were here and look for illegal employment, lol.
