They seem to offer a hop on and hop off type system where passengers buy a ticket for the day, or two days or even a week. The last time I used one was in Malaysia a few years ago. What I can say about London is that due to the congestion cars there is a significantly lower level of traffic in London which would make getting about on the roads easier. (Friend who lives in London told me this and it appears correct; members in London please feel free to correct me.) In conclusion they do appear to be an efficient way of getting round from one tourist spot to another.
