Good to read Thai taxpayers are questioning the waste of their tax money. Social media can be a powerful device for change.

Pattaya: Pothole excavations cause frustration for locals

Since the start of roadworks at the Chaiyapruek intersection on January 4, bewildered Pattaya residents have been scratching their heads over the necessity and planning behind this disruptive project.

City authorities claim the construction work is an attempt to rectify uneven road surfaces, but the public is not buying it and many are taking to social media to air their discontentment.

“Why wasn’t this sorted in the beginning? It’s like fixing a leaky roof during a storm.”

The recurring excavations have become a thorn in the side of Pattaya’s residents, with many labelling it as a repetitive and simmering issue. The lack of foresight and a well-coordinated plan has led to multiple disruptions, causing widespread inconvenience.

“It’s our hard-earned money going down the drain, literally.”

Critics argue that mismanagement of budgeted funds not only inconveniences the public but also erodes trust within the community, reported Pattaya Mail.

As the road infrastructure projects continue to wreak havoc on daily life, Pattaya’s residents are demanding increased transparency, accountability, and effective management.

One end is at the dolphin roundabout and the other at the 3rd road overpass.

Went for my first walk along beach road this trip. The paving of the beach pathway is ridiculous. From the north it is finally paved to Soi 10. Then it goes back to the old paving to Soi 12. Then new paving to Soi 13/1. Then ready to pave until past Royal Garden. Then old paving again. Why did they jump a bit

Yup. I'm walking the beach daily, but missing the southern end due to the works going on. Tend to cut up through 13/3 to 2nd, then up to buckhou for a smoothie from a favourite stall at the market before home to crash.

I had heard a rumour that they hadn't started the bit opposite Mike's as they didn't know what do do with the raised bit, which was created as the late Elvis once launched his Finn sailing dinghy from there.... however, the way they have put piles of new slabs there seems to say they're about to start...

I wonder if it'll be complete when I return in October, as I doubt it'll be finished when I leave in late March.

Used to do similar 2 trips back. Baht bus from Tai to Klang. Then back and forth along the finished bit. Then bus back. Sometimes go over to Jomtein for a change.
