Krapow
Enjoying this thread. I like Hua Hin, just don't like the beach there. But as your thread shows, ample good beaches nearby. Now, if only there was god diving there as well ...

Phantom51red
Goodbye ban krut, hello ao manao Prachuap khiri Khan. Enjoyed our last american breaky, only the 2 of us eating around 8,30am,rest of guests had Che ked out and some eaten earlier. Booked moto cycle taxi 10 am, train was due at 5 min past 10,but running 20 min late. I actually enjoyed this train more than special express, reason s why, wasn't busy, nice breeze through the windows, can move about easily and not feel confined to booked seats like on the express.I took 4 seat at right side she had left side seat s. The express was a bit of a nightmare to be honest, had an oldish thai couple behind us yaking to much the guys voice was like thunder, and surrounded by other thais on phones watchin movies loudly, playing music, facetiming ect ect, this slow train was just a much more pleasant journey, only 1 hour from ban krut to ao manao but still. Checked into hadthong hotel, nice Seaview room, but bugger me pool is closed hey ho can swim in the sea suppose.Time to get motorbike from our usual supplier and head to ao manao beach for lunch. boydeste
I took a train for the first time from Korat up to Buriram. Think it was 3rd class with a fan. A very relaxing 2 hours for the pricely sum of 24 baht. The window probably provided more air than the fan, but very enjoyable ride and ridiculously cheap. Surprised me how many old ladies were on the train selling food and refreshments. I will definitely be looking to use then more on my next trip.

When I see the food sellers I always feel for them, the older lady with black curly hair in pics I recognise from years ago,on and off trains all day in that heat, they must make very little,I always buy a drink and sometimes the redbean rice in bamboo 13 bht each our tickets were, and better experience than express train, tho if in a hurry and going further express first option.
Phantom51red
200 bht a day for the Honda click, took it 2 days, and off to eat at a small hole in the wall place just 2 minutes from station. After that we headed to ao manao, first to the mountain to see if the langurs were about, but unfortunately not, should be there tomorrow morning tho The gates were also closed so no going up this time, easy to jump over them but with 2 army sentry points at each corner just 20 metres away its not worth it,the last time I just pushed the gates open and went up,this time there tied. Drove round to ao manao beach and chilled there for 2 hours, then went to local Market for fruit, she bought fruit I bought a couple of large changs from small shop. Some pics 5

Popular Post Phantom51red
Last sunrise and breaky in ao manao, best part of the day, trains late and not till 11,30 now, searched for grab or bolt but not available here. We thought about the minivan but only did that once and was a nightmare with far to many stops,so will just wait it out in hotel. It's been a pleasant 4 days,id recommend ao manao over ban krut tho and kinda wish we could stay here a bit longer but she has work to go back Sunday. 7
Phantom51red
Arrived in hua hin about 1,45pm,train was busy, but no probs and for 19bht each it was worth it. Popinto the number 1 coffee shop at the station ordered 2 ice green teas, which went down very well. Ordered bolt 70 bht to our apartment, wee snooze, then decided to drive to pak nam pran, its busy tonight as they have the weekly market on beach road, but we searched and found a popular restaurant that had moved location, cheers horizon dave for the heads up. Very good restaurant is the name, had to look at maps, off the beaten track a bit,but was well worth it. I had chicken and chips with veg,she had glass noodles shrimp and pork,Itho we both tucked into it as was to much for one,as usual the food was excellent, location not as good but will still be back. 4

Phantom51red
The bike and the Buddha. To give it a good run before I take it further afield, had a run out to wat mongkol and pretty happy with the performance of the bike Thought id try what I thought was a pineapple drink, until I tasted it and see the sign at the other side, drunk very little and binned it,then went to coffe shop for a replacement green tea nit noi sugar, very nice. Not busy here today which is unusual being it a Sunday, actually felt like a hot hairdryer on my face riding out here,so full face helmet on way back. 6
Popular Post Phantom51red
Didn't know what to do with myself today, woke up earlyish, then had a brainwave,or more like fart. I'd head to Sam roi yod,set myself a challenge, hike to the 3 caves and viewpoint, having did them all separately a few times I'm sure it's possible, and we'll the ticket only lasts 1 day so I'm making the most of it. Drank 7 bottles of 500ml waters,2 cans of coffee,1 can of manao Schweppes and a big cup of Pepsi and ice at the end which was the restaurant s at phraya nakhon cave. Took about 6 hours, stopped for lunch 45 min or so,it was a sweltering knackeredness of a day I left nakhon cave till last as worked my way from back of the park starting with khao dang viewpoint. 7 1
Popular Post Phantom51red
Made a visit to tham bo cave today outside petchaburi, long drive but worth it,not just for the cave but the scenic mountains behind the temple. I've been googlin to try and find out about this mountain, looks like it's possible to go up,I remember looking at it many times as I was on airport bus, like a finger pointing to the sky, didn't know the cave was just round the corner from it. 8
