  6. Been a beautiful day in London, best day of the year so far weather wise. We went down to the zoo after the child's swimming lesson, see how the tiger cubs had grown, good to see it busy. We left early, so as not to get caught up in any traffic jams going home near the Holloway rd when the Arsenal game finished. Just as well, as rumour is they were all leaving well before 90mins 😅 Then we went to our latest favourite Indian restaurant, which is an Indian restaurant, not a Bangladeshi one masquerading as an Indian! Was Top Notch as usual, and great VFM, came in at £56, that was poppadoms, soft shell crab, 2 curries, 2 garlic and 1 peshawari naans, pilau rice and drinks. Going down Brick Lane and Spitalfields Markets next Sunday, do the City farm, get another curry down there. Though with Brick Lane it'll be Bangladeshi, but I enjoy a good lip tingling spicy as f**k Lamb Naga. Love London in the Spring/Summer, always loads going on ...

  7. Trying to deal with how f***d up life is. You have this amazing person like my sister Jan, she’s been an ICU nurse for about 30 years, spent her life caring for people, yet she’s got about 6 months left. Yet a f***d up junkie/alcoholic like me gets to live. I’m finding life really hard at the moment, and seeing Jan deteriorating is so fucking hard for me. Sorry for the post, just really struggling at the moment.

  8. At my last check up in November last year it was noticed I'd developed a cataract, which often happens after this surgery. Just had that fixed this week in Rayong Hospital as it was 1/3rd the cost of Bangkok Pattaya but shares a lot of resources. I went for a monofocal lens and first indications are that all's going well.

  9. Gal, if there's one thing that you could do that would continue to make your Sister so happy and proud, i'd wager it would be to keep it together, and keep on the path you are now. And i totally get what you're saying in your other post, about how things can be so f***d up in this world. I used to feel the exact same when me and Sa were trying for a child and it wasn't happening. Then all around me through my job i was seeing people getting pregnant again and again, and the baby getting taken off them and going to Social Services again and again. It was heartbreaking, people seemingly getting pregnant at the drop of a hat, seemingly not giving a f**k about it or the baby either, and us just wanting our own baby to love and cherish which we at that time couldn't have. But we had to deal with it, and it all worked out for us in the end. Life can be so f***d up as you say, but getting smashed to block out how f***d up it is just makes things worse, especially now you have and know what a good period of sobriety is like for you. It's coming into Summer, anytime you want a wee break to maybe go somewhere let me know, London's great in the Summer.

  14. What you're doing for your sister is your redemption, mate, the right that makes all the past wrongs irrelevant. Not everybody gets a chance to be redeemed in this way, and many who do get that chance don't recognize it when it presents itself. You are rising to a task many would fail at or shrink from, and you're doing it with strength and resolve. This is the real you, the person that many other than yourself could see even when you didn't believe it yourself. It's a heroic thing you're doing. I have a ton of respect for it, as many others around you do.

  18. Got up early (6am) to spray some weed killer on weeds along paths and borders etc. The wife had set the alarm and when I woke up she said ไม่มี (No wind) and pushed me out of bed laughing her head off. So ideal conditions for the task it was even warm enough for shorts, first time my legs have been out this year. 🤣 Then, job done, it was back in the kitchen for a full English 🤗

  19. Thanks Ray,that means a lot, I just want to be strong for Jan, she’s my world and I want to keep my shit together for her. She’s all I have, I really don’t know how I’ll cope without her. It’s a case of time will tell, My counselor Sian will be the person that basically keeps me alive.

  21. Agree. There are guys who play the guitar as well or possibly better, but Zappa was an absolute unbridled genius. The Nikola Tesla of modern music.

To give it a good run before I take it further afield, had a run out to wat mongkol and pretty happy with the performance of the bike Thought id try what I thought was a pineapple drink, until I tasted it and see the sign at the other side, drunk very little and binned it,then went to coffe shop for a replacement green tea nit noi sugar, very nice. Not busy here today which is unusual being it a Sunday, actually felt like a hot hairdryer on my face riding out here,so full face helmet on way back.

  26. I started early today after a nice bike ride down to the 7/11 and back. Ride began at 8 am returned at 9. Air was fresh and clean, smelled like a florist shop. After the heavy rains we have been getting the past few days things are blooming everywhere. It's wonderful, and gives me new energy following the worst heat spell and smoke season in recent history. It's election day, so I decided that after the ride I'd just get pissed and take a long nap (I slept like shit last night). Get up around 6 pm and have a nice dinner. Then hit some whiskey and diet, watch a couple of movies and the hit the sack again. Busy day tomorrow so I should be ready to tackle all of the stuff I have scheduled.

  27. Arrived in hua hin about 1,45pm,train was busy, but no probs and for 19bht each it was worth it. Popinto the number 1 coffee shop at the station ordered 2 ice green teas, which went down very well. Ordered bolt 70 bht to our apartment, wee snooze, then decided to drive to pak nam pran, its busy tonight as they have the weekly market on beach road, but we searched and found a popular restaurant that had moved location, cheers horizon dave for the heads up. Very good restaurant is the name, had to look at maps, off the beaten track a bit,but was well worth it. I had chicken and chips with veg,she had glass noodles shrimp and pork,Itho we both tucked into it as was to much for one,as usual the food was excellent, location not as good but will still be back.

  31. Sounds similar to my arrival about 6 weeks ago where there was a poorly signposted temporary fast track to the right of the second hall. https://thailand-247.com/index.php?/topic/5244-bangkok-and-other-airports-your-recent-experience-busy-ok-or-quiet-please-add-your-experiences/&do=findComment&comment=279504

  33. Last sunrise and breaky in ao manao, best part of the day, trains late and not till 11,30 now, searched for grab or bolt but not available here. We thought about the minivan but only did that once and was a nightmare with far to many stops,so will just wait it out in hotel. It's been a pleasant 4 days,id recommend ao manao over ban krut tho and kinda wish we could stay here a bit longer but she has work to go back Sunday.

  34. Arrived BKK last night at 23:45 pm. After walking what seemed km's I passed the first immigration entrance on my way to Fast track. That queue was fairly long, probably a good 45 minute wait. Arrived at the entrance to Fast Track and while I could see it was open, the dragon lady at the entrance wouldn't let anyone except crew pass and directed everyone else on to the second immigration entrance. Not sure what's up with that, and was slightly pissed to be turned away as that's supposed to be one of the perks of flying BC. The queue at second immigration was much shorter, but as bad luck would have it I got stuck behind an old Chinese woman and her daughter that couldn't figure out she needed to put her finger tips on the finger print reader, not her whole fcking hand. The IO also was useless as he couldn't be bothered to move his fat ass out of the seat to show her the proper method. Instead he'd grunt and hand motion for her to keep trying. That was about 10 minutes of my life I'll never get back. But in the end it didn't matter as even with the delay going through immigration I still had another 15 minute wait for luggage to start popping up on the carousel. All together it was about an hour from deplaning to meeting my driver from Nam's Taxi at gate 3.

  40. This week I finally broke down and decided to have someone come in once a week and help me with cleaning. Basically cleaning the floors and bathrooms. Once in a while help me with a small project. It will take a little adjustment for me. But I think having the same person come back each week will help me to keep a steady schedule of cleaning, rather than waiting until things get sloppy.

  42. Or we've reached a point where the market can no longer bear the exorbitant rent and key money landlords are charging. Expect to see many more businesses closing their doors in the coming months when the owners realize there aren't enough customers to pay the rent.
