My brother and I have 40 acres a half mile south of Purgatory Ski Area. We bought it back in 1975. Over the years we build a decent little cabin. 5 years later i bought an old house built in 1890 in Durango. I was having a bit of trouble living on the mountain and being at work in town by 8am. Spring, summer and fall it was an aabsolutely beautiful 25 mile commute but come winter it could be a real bitch. The cabin is 8tenths of a mile back in off the hhighway. For years we were the only ones back there. And it could easily take 3 to 4 hours of shoveling to just get to the highway. Some days we couldn't get out at all. So i ended up buying an old clunker in town for $38,000. 45 years later it's has made my financial statement look rather nice. Then there's me GF. We been together for 11 years. Now she has a real nice house 12 miles north of Durango on the way to Purg. Her house is the one I have posted a lot of exterior view pics of. Now its a really nice house and a great location up on the side of a hill. So the views are pretty sweet. View from the deck of the cabin. If you zoom in you can see to tops of the condos at Purgatory. Pretty much middle of photo and a bit above the north the last pic is looking to the southwest down towards Durango7 points

At 7am M'Lady received a call from the Government Land Office to say that her Blue Book with my name included was ready for collection ... along with my ID Card ! In the 29 years I have lived here I have never bothered about it before. I am unaware of any advantages of it (or not) so it will be a 30 minute drive in to town later to pick it up....6 points

Had one of these Tefal Air fryers with the turning paddle in it, but my god it was noisy, so got me a Ninja Airfryer and giving it a go tonight. Saves turning on the electric oven and 1/3 the time to cook. Onnthe menus tonight is Roasted Pork Belly, roasted tatties, steamed carrots and cabbage and the gravy is in the kettle. 🤣 Have to say I’m impressed with the roasting feature and it’s quiet when on.5 points

Oddly enough, the DG is cheaper these days if you book through Agoda, and they seem to prefer it this way - I booked through their site for years but now just use Agoda - I am here at the DG now.4 points

I was curious as to how one would contact a PA mod if you couldn't log on, but I see there's a pop up message when you go to the PA website with a "contact us" link. Using that link you should be able to message the mods with your board name and email address so they can help with getting you logged back on to PA.4 points

I don't know if you're a fan of GC's, but quite a few have opened since you were last here. Depending on your proclivities, lots of fun to be had at the various clubs.4 points

My bro-in-law's 72nd birthday & him & his missus came & stayed with us in the condo for a couple of days & we took them to Pupen in Na Jomtien, got to be the biggest restaurant I've ever seen.I asked our waitress-who spoke perfect English-how many cooks they employ. She said around 100. Wonderful seafood!4 points

Or indeed if the cop was fearful of his own life with Phuket having a unknown number of armed drug dealing farang. They shouldn't have fled the first request to stop. It wouldn't surprise me if the cop escalated the situation by popping off a few rounds and the kiwis were just trying to save their lives by subduing him but they shouldn't have put themselves in that situation in the first place.4 points

Whenever I read these reports of how Thai Immig treat, often elderly, retirees, I am thankful that I decided to retire to the Philippines. I got the SRRV Retirement Visa 14 years ago and I have NEVER visited an immig office since. All handled thru a govt agency, the PRA. Very helpful and efficient. Partner and I have visited Pattaya, usually 4-5 MO nths a year, on 60 day TV or 30 day entry since that time with no dramas. Philippine immig makes it very easy for foreigners to stay. You can actually enter on a visa free entry and just pay to extend for upto 36 months. Unfortunately they often make it bloody hard for their citizens to leave!!3 points

A yellow book is for Farang. A blue book is for Thais. I am being added to hers. I have been told that we have to go there at 1:30pm for my photo to be taken after all the Thais have been processed then I will get issued my Pink ID Card. The driving Test is well over an hours drive away so I shall probably just pay an agent. But let's see...3 points
