Thai Spice Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 (edited) Yahoo France since some time showed me a message : "Yahoo France is now part of Oath. Oath and its partners need your consent to access your device, blablabla…." So, I went to have a look with who they share MY data ….. Note that NOT ACCEPTING is not an option as clearly stated on the next page : https://guce.oath.com/consent "Pour continuer à utiliser Yahoo et d'autres sites et applications d’Oath, vous devez nous autoriser à utiliser des cookies pour collecter vos données." "Vous devez nous autoriser" means "you HAVE to authorise us". In other words, if you don't , F.O. ….. The next page informs you of all the "partners with who your data will be shared.. https://guce.oath.com/collectConsent/partners/vendors?sessionId=4_cc-session_4c70c017-8c4e-46c5-bb32-2fa9a8aa88f4&lang=fr-FR Seems there are 2 levels of partners "Chosen partners" and "IAB partners" Interactive Advertisement Bureau, whatever that is Now have a scroll at the list of the Chosen partners : 10 of them, with the usual big names Then have a look / scroll down at the "IAB" partners.... There must be a 100 names on the list...... Edit : Seems the 2nd list you can select to activate them or not. Although not very clear if by clicking you activate them or if they are activated by default and by clicking you disactivate them ? So well, being a stubborn frog they can Feck off, I am not clicking "Agreed" Now, they probably already nicked it behind my back already anyway.....😡 Edited January 11, 2019 by Thai Spice 1

Glasseye Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 I use a vpn now, a must IMO. duckduckgo.com a great search engine that doesn't track. Always adjust settings in Micro and Google. It's an endless task. Stay away from shit like FB and Instagram, they all share.... and they can all kiss my ass. I know they track but I don't like the idea of my personal info. being sold to any buyer. Just aint right. 1
Rompho Ray Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Free browser tracker blocker: https://www.eff.org/privacybadger/faq I've used it for years. Works well, lightweight, customizable. 1
code_slayer_bkk Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 ^^^^ There are a shit load of these available now .... But, before I use anything related to the internet I put it through a bunch of hacks to see if it really does what it advertises that it does ... most fail ...
Thai Spice Posted September 12, 2020 Author Posted September 12, 2020 The best documentary I saw on the subject. Abit long (90 min) but worth every minute of it. The consequences, change of societal behavior, impact on our daily lives and brains caused by social media. Also of course the commercial aspect. Very recent, hence up to date with the last events (Covid, BLM, etc...) Available on Netflix and on Showboxmovies https://www.showboxmovies.net/watch-movie/the-social-dilemma-63373.3148444 1
