A few pics of the various road projects currently going on around Pattaya. Starting off with the south end of Beach Rd. Part of the project to bury the overhead cables. Looks like they're also starting on the new, improved, drainage system. The cynic in me thinks they'll destroy a few of the underground cable conduits as they dig to put in the new drains. Over at the Soi 16, south Pattaya canal. The unauthorized bridge is still there. Looking towards and progressing up the canal towards 2nd Rd. Canal is now under the soi. On 2nd Rd they're working on enlarging the drain feeding into the canal. On Sukhumvit, near the Pattaya Tai intersection they're also working on burying the rats nest of overhead cables. Over on the road that runs parallel to the railroad, the lowest spot on the road near Khao Talo they've started work on what I believe will be a pumping station to help with flood control.

One morning last week I noted some project was starting on the water stream (a more appropriate name would be ‘’klong’' !) near the house. The water level was lowered, and some digging started. After a few questions translated approximatively by my long hair instant dictionary, it seems they are going to reinforce the berms. Similar to what exist a bit further upstream. This is close to slavery, absolutely no equipment is used except shovels, hoes and 1 wheelbarrow. The digging is done wading knee deep in the water and all the handling / lifting is done by hand. This is definitively a back breaking job. They install this type of bottom support blocs. Alignement is controlled with cords on bamboo frames, of course forget about any theodolite or other survey equipment ! Then they install those plates, they are grooved and connect to each other. No cement or anything is used to bond them, and in fact it would be a bit useless considering sometimes the job is done ‘’underwater’’. Indeed during 3 days they re-opened the valves to allow the water to flow and avoid the surrounding fields to run dry. Again, I noted the community spirit that reigns here. Every day the Miss or brother offer tea and coffee to the crew that works near our house. Other people do same to other crews. And of course they were all surprised to see a white face in the middle of this area ! OK boys, that's it for this trip . Tomorrow morning the frog is on the move again, back to Bali ! Cheers !

Not a bad idea. I see some great franchise opportunities. Le Pub - Darkside, Le Pub - LKM, Le Pub - Nakula, Le Pub - Jomtien, and Le - Pub - Nirun should just about cover it.

20 days and a wake up until wheels up from San Francisco to BKK and taxi to Pattaya for a short visit before onward to Kenya for a couple weeks. Returning back the same way, with another 3 day stay in Patts before homeward bound.

Loving this... Seeing him in Liverpool in November . I have been through loads of stages with Oasis loved them, couldn't stand them , but Liam is the stand out brother at the minute tune wise. Should be no1 on release this best thing in a long time from either of them. Better than a lot of the new shite that's out.

A few more on this. Seems it is not all for the temple, some is distributed to the neighbours, all part of the Galungan ritual. Filling of the baskets with wet, uncooked rice : Boiling is done as usual on the traditional stoves : When ''cooked'' it is hanged to dry a bit : Final product : Another ''wrapping design'', but same process : And some soup is also prepared and send off in similar ''pile up'' pots that we used in the old days to bring lunch to work on site 😃

I concur.....also there being many ex Secrets members here isn't exactly going to see a silence when so many had an interest in putting coin across the bar and hotel. And they still will if it ever opens again and I will probably be one of them. I did say once that having a forum associated with a bar etc could come back to bite you in the arse when things go a little in the wrong direction. Sad but true and rumour and speculation are just going to rear their head, ugly or not on occasions.. I hope it works out for Scooters and Secrets whatever happens

Danny, i agree with a little you write re hoping it gets resolved and staff taken care of. however secrets has had a good run here, promo for the hotel and the bar when it opened. from what i hear Paul has done his level best in most areas but there was nothing done to promote the bar when it opened, not an ounce of marketing. as in zip, and the recent closed for spring cleaning took patrons and ex patrons for fools, which they arent. i hope it does get sorted and re opened and staff and suppliers all happy, but please dont blame the public for questioning BS in some cases,

Yayoi don’t do French Fries, aka chips. They include with many dishes what appears to be a baked (possibly microwaved) potato cut into small segments.
