Some pics from Kanchanaburi,I'm staying at the rivet kwai resort pool access room,1800 bht but asked for discount and got it for 1600 for 3 nights. It's quite, I'm in a corner room so perfect, just seen 1 thai family yesterday, this morning a couple of falang older couples ,they might be here for anzac day tomorrow. The bars mostly were busy last night,I think again because anzac day tomorrow, from what I heard lots of aussie s Had a few drinks in 2 bars but nothing of interest, add to that the usual older lady trying her luck with new falang in town,fs then her mate came over after making it obvious I wasn't playing, she had bigger teeth ! with enough spaces for cars to drive through, anyhow did a sharp exit to a nearby restaurant at about 11pm,back to room called ting tong to tell her I been a good man, didn't necessarily plan on that but hey ho. I've definitely got pics from last year on the bridge with these same dogs.6 points

The reason is in the article. That particular site has historical significance. "The inspiration behind this initiative stems from a historic event where Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit, accompanied by the Royal Family, sailed in Pattaya Bay decades ago. This event holds immense historical and cultural significance."4 points

To this day I thank the local co-op for introducing me to Gewurzstraminer ! Probably the best afternoon I spent with my Mum sitting in her garden before she died and we both fancied a drink so I drove into town. It was a lovely hot summers day and it was the only wine left in any of the fridges in town. Bloody hell 9% German muck I thought to myself as I bought a bottle..... I got home and poured a glass each. Oh My Buddha was I wrong! Straight back into town and emptied the fridge!! Thank You Co-op for a wonderful afternoon with my slightly tipsy Mum !!3 points

Was at my local Co-op , I don't shop there that often, but I saw they had no queues at the members counter, so I went to check my dividend ... had to change address with them first and show id proof etc ... but I had Β£890 in my account , added up from shopping trips since 2014 .... transferred the funds to my Bank account... I think I need to shop there more 5553 points

Beach footpath photo update from this morning's rideabout. A few of the new pavers are missing. It took longer than I thought it would, but the shower fixtures still didn't last very long. Meanwhile shower #2 and #3 are still waiting to be finished. The footpath is already pretty narrow in spots, so some mindless drone decided to make it narrower still with strategic placement of trash bins. Wonder when they'll get around to finishing the planting of trees. Odd they finished planting the newer section further south, while the older section to the north has been forgotten. Ending on a positive note. The beach itself is in great shape.3 points

Each case is different. Police and insurance being contacted is pretty standard operating procedure though. The guy would have to hand over some serious dosh on the spot for me to let that fly. IMO anyone driving impaired is an automatic shitbag in my book anyway. You got double whammied on that one. One more reason why I don't want to own a motor vehicle of any kind. They're a mountain of expense and hassle. If you drive a car chances are fairly high that if something bad happens in your life a car will somehow be involved.3 points

The site will be used for a new monument to the late King. Pattaya to erect monument honouring King Bhumibol Adulyadej, The Legendary Royal Sailor Pattaya City has unveiled plans to commemorate the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, also known as King Rama IX, through the construction of a monument at the site of the old royal sailing club on Pattaya beach. Deputy Mayor Kritsana Boonsawat presided over a meeting highlighting the cityβs dedication to preserving its cultural heritage. The inspiration behind this initiative stems from a historic event where Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit, accompanied by the Royal Family, sailed in Pattaya Bay decades ago. This event holds immense historical and cultural significance. On April 19, 1966, at 4:28 AM, His Majesty the King personally sailed a 13-foot OK-class sailboat named βVegaβ across the Gulf of Thailand, from the Klai Kungwon Royal Palace in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, to Toey Ngam Beach, Sattahip, Chonburi, arriving at 9:28 PM after a 17-hour journey covering 111 kilometres. His remarkable feat conquered challenging weather conditions and numerous obstacles. ...3 points

Some pics from the temple and museum, before these while driving through the army base I found a free zoo, wasn't a nice place to be honest, gibbons, maquak s,black bear and other animals all locked up in small cages,I bought some buckets of fruit and fed them,it's sold by army guys who run the place. Interestingly the museum was built around tools and log coffins the pows found while building death railway, the coffins were discovered in a couple of the caves I'd visited last time.2 points

Like a quote I read once - "If you want to find out who your friends really are, check and see who will help you move your freezer out of the basement on Saturday" - lol....2 points

Everything arrived yesterday so I got my photos done in town straight away. I got a bit confused when they wanted my Thai DL but it was quickly clarified in a phone call to Som. It is for confirmation of my address here. I shall use my Yellow book. M'lady also called the agent she used for her previous husband's visa. He used to pay 26K baht but the price has increased to 33K !! So I am saving 10K with Som. Equally I don't mind paying the extra compared to Pattaya because it'd cost me that much in hotels and travel...and booze of course!!2 points

Foreigner played at first concert I attended. It was The Day of Rock and Roll, in the Superdome. I still canβt believe our parents let my brothers and I drive over 200 miles to New Orleans by ourselves. My older brother was 17, I was 15 and my little brother was 11 or 12. They would probably be arrested if they did that today. Christopher Cross opened, followed by Cheap Trick, then Foreigner. The Eagles finished out the night. I think the tickets were about $12.2 points

The one that choked me up was during the tsunami where many many reports of Thais helping the foreigners often at the cost of their own lives. I hear much negative comment about this and especially Thai ladies who the peasants back home immediately assume are bar girls. Not once did I hear any conversationcomme ding the selfless acts of the many thais who gave their lives. Moving further back google Boonpong and brothers in relation to the death railway.2 points
