So much political pressure in play to come up with a vaccine. I think I will be able to afford this price. Every Australian will secure a COVID-19 vaccine for free under a deal to be announced by the Prime Minister Scott Morrison to manufacture millions of doses here in Australia. News.com.au can reveal that the Morrison Government will confirm the landmark agreement on Wednesday with drug giant AstraZeneca to manufacture one of the world’s most promising coronavirus vaccines currently being developed by Oxford University researchers. If it’s proved safe to use, the Prime Minister believes the agreement will ensure Australians will be among the first countries in the world to secure the jab. fygjam
In the meantime, stick a pineapple up your nose. Australian researchers are testing a breakthrough treatment for COVID-19 derived from the humble pineapple. Cancer specialist Professor David Morris, from St George Hospital in Sydney, and his team have repurposed a drug he had already developed to treat cancer patients. The drug, BromAc – which is made with an enzyme found in pineapples -was found to dissolve the spike proteins that COVID-19 uses to infect human cells. It has been repurposed into a nasal spray that researchers hope will stop the virus’ spread from the nose and throat to the lungs. A trial on patients at the Royal Melbourne Hospital could start next month. “We’ve taken a drug in development for more than a decade and asked whether it can be adapted for treating people infected with COVID-19,” Prof David Morris said in a statement. “Our lab results show the new drug renders the COVID-19 spike ineffective, stopping it from infecting other cells. “We hope the results will show the treatment can confine COVID to the nose and throat and prevent lung infection, and stop infected patients from passing on the live virus.” https://www.news.com.au/national/nsw-act/live-coronavirus-nsw-sydney-covid19-updates/live-coverage/44555ed808dc295809920692395065ce

fygjam
Coronavirus vaccine: Anti-vaxxer fury over Australian government deal Anti-vaxxers have reacted with fury at Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s announcement of free COVID-19 shots for all Australians. The Morrison Government today confirmed the landmark agreement with drug giant AstraZeneca to manufacture more than 25 million doses of the promising Oxford University vaccine if it proves safe to use. Mr Morrison subsequently told 3AW that the vaccine, if distributed in Australia, would “be as mandatory as you can possibly make it” but that “there are always exemptions on medical grounds”. “You know where you can stick that vaccine ScoMo!” one reader wrote on Facebook. “Give it to your squad but don’t you dare come near me or my family with that poison!” Another said, “Death shots here we come. Line up team sheep. Can’t wait.” Bill Gates was a common theme. “Is this the one from Dr Bill Gates that believes in lowering the world’s population by use of vaccines significantly to help with ‘climate change’?” one reader asked. Another said, “The grim reaper is in the house. Bill Gates must be rubbing his hands with all the billions of dollars that he will make.” One added, “Considering Bill Gates is a eugenicist and this fraudulent orchestrated pandemic is all about the UN’s Agenda 21 and depopulation I think I’ll pass.” Many comments questioned the need for a vaccine given the recovery rate. “We need a vaccine for a virus that has a 99.5 per cent cure rate, without the vaccine. Let that sink in,” one wrote. Another person warned “don’t order too many”. “Most people don’t need a vaccine for something that has a 99.96 (per cent) recovery rate and hydroxychloroquine is a much safer alternative,” she said. The recovery rate in Australia is about 97 per cent. Many were also concerned about their vaccine coming with a side of 5G microchips. “Leave my body alone Bill Gates, I don’t want your 5G tracking inside me,” one wrote. Another said, “Say no to vaccines and no to chips. They can’t force you.” Some questioned why the vaccine was “free”. It’s not – the Australian taxpayer will be paying for it. “No company gives a multi-billion dollar vaccine away for ‘free’,” one commenter said. “Also the pharma company also apparently states that they are not legally responsible for anything that goes wrong. It’s like playing Russian roulette. No thanks.” One person explained, “The Mark of the Beast is here. That’s why it’s free.” The question of whether the vaccine should be mandatory sparked heated debate, even among pro-vaccination readers. “I’m no anti-vaxxer, I get my flu shot every year and an a very strong supporter of mandatory immunisation. This however sounds a bit scary,” one wrote. “You can’t release a vaccine onto the public that has not gone through a proper rigorous testing program.” Similarly, another said, “I’m not keen on any COVID vaccine. A successful vaccine takes years of testing and trials. All these COVID vaccines have been rushed, and we don’t know the possible side effects and long-term effects.” One woman said she was “not choosing to be a anti-vaxxer”. “I’m far from it, however I would be wanting way more information released about the vaccine before it’s injected into myself or into my family,” she wrote. “I feel it’s been rushed, and no one knows about any of the side effects, long-term effects as yet.” Would you take a COVID-19 vaccine? Surveys in the US and UK have indicated up to half of respondents would either refuse or be hesitant to take a COVID-19 vaccine. Popular Post Butch
I can't really understand all the hype about not getting vaccinated. I was vaccinated for TB, smallpox and Cholera when I was a kid, and given the choice (which I wasn't) , I was happy with the swollen arm for 2 days over my urine turning black and kidneys packing up, thus spending the rest of my life on dialysis. I've been vaccinated against Rabies. I'd rather have a swollen arm than foam at the mouth and experience hydrophobia and possibly death. Same goes for Hepa B and Hepa A. I'd rather have a swollen arm than...I think you get it by now. All, apart from the TB & Smallpox (polio was on a sugar lump) were voluntary, in many cases it cost me money. Smallpox was eradicated by a global vaccination programme, where were the anti vaxxers then? Where were the anti globalists, screaming about not taking on a vaccine that might make their brains explode if they read "catcher in the rye"?. Agreed, the financials due to private companies doing the R&D on this stuff offers a different angle, but if it were not for the big pharmas running the trials and looking for a vaccine, then C-19 might well be here for a lot longer and our freedoms would be restricted a lot more. Also, as C-19 is a relatively new disease (although coronavirus is not) there is still a great deal not known about it, especially the long term effects on health, for pretty obvious reasons. At the end of the day it is personal choice, but I'd probably take the opinion of world leading Epidemiologists who have spent their lives dedicated to observing the behavioural patterns of Viruses over some bloke on youtube telling me that the Govt want to control me through it while saying it's a massive conspiracy. Also, if the vaccine is 99.99999% harmless to people, watch them concentrate on the 0.00001% (which will still be a fairly big number if there's a few billion doses given out). Trust me, the Govt don't need a vaccine to control the populous, they're doing that pretty effectively at the moment without one. Ultimately, the vaccine will probably be no less harmful than eating a donut, the difference being I won't be able to get into Thailand or the Philippines with a donut in my passport in the future. 4
fygjam
All the more for me if I need it. One of Australia’s most senior Anglican religious leaders now says he will boycott the COVID-19 vaccine and refuse to take it if it uses cell line research from an foetus aborted nearly 50 years ago. Just days after writing to the Prime Minister Scott Morrison with other religious leaders over his ethical concerns, Anglican Archbishop of Sydney Glenn Davies has revealed he would prefer to wait for an alternative vaccine that doesn’t use the controversial cell lines. “I probably would, but that would be a personal decision of mine and not a decision that I would bind anyone’s conscience with,” Dr Davies told AM. “To use that tissue for science is reprehensible. From what I’ve understood, there are so many places around the world on the hunt for this vaccine, which I’m certainly hopeful that there will be pressure on those countries to make it widely available. The Oxford University vaccine, which is still undergoing human trials, does not contain any embryonic material. What has occurred is that a cell culture grown from a foetus in 1972 has been maintained and widely used to create a variety of vaccines for chickenpox, rabies and rubella and now COVID-19 for nearly 50 years. The furore over the vaccine follows a Spanish Cardinal Antonio Canizares Llovera recently calling the COVID-19 vaccines using the cell lines as the “work of the devil”. https://www.news.com.au/world/coronavirus/australia/anglican-church-leader-says-he-will-boycott-covid19-vaccine/news-story/26d4f59604135ca0698ecde07c8b0783 For those wishing to know more about the devil cells. HEK293 is a cell line derived from human embryonic kidney cells grown in tissue culture. They are also known, more informally, as HEK cells. This particular line was initiated by the transformation and culturing of normal HEK cells with sheared adenovirus 5 DNA. The transformation resulted in the incorporation of approximately 4.5 kilobases from the viral genome into human chromosome 19 of the HEK cells. https://www.hek293.com/#:~:text=HEK293 is a cell line, with sheared adenovirus 5 DNA. It was a prerequisite that all our jabs had to be up to date as we would sometimes travel at a moment's notice. Some jabs would last 10 years (Yellow Fever being one and f**k did that one hurt) but at that time Cholera was one that needed 6 month top-ups. We were regular visitors and the centre gave us a certified certificate for each jab that were held in our passports with an elastic band. It got quite thick, as to ensure countries we visited could see we were current, we'd sometimes have to show the original jab and all the top-ups, to prove everything was up to date. I can remember I had a set of jabs in May 1978 on a Friday, the next day being FA Cup final day and my team (Ipswich) were in it. What the doc didn't tell me was that for one of the jabs I must abstain from alcohol for 48 hours. I had two pints on the coach on the way to Wembley and felt utter shite. I just couldn't eat or drink anything and was as white as a sheet and nauseous all day. Couldn't even celebrate with all my mates after we won. 1
