Rory drops one early, wind is blowing and it’s a tough scoring day again. Rooting for JD and Tiger to make the cut, if they shoot EVEN par they should be good. Think it will move to +4 to make the weekend. Happy to see Pereira up there, he just crushes it, watched him in one of the PGA events last fall

Great start for Rory……Hope it keeps going. Course seems to be tough, his 2 bogeys were on long par 3’s.

Watched his whole round last night (on playback) - he seemed a lot more focused than before - and he backed off when his drive was not good.  On one par 4 he actually laid it up short of the green from the rough, and then got up and down with his great short game - that was good to see.  I reckon playing with Tiger helped him - one reason being he was not the centre of attention.  But both Jordan and Rory looked a little distracted now and then over the last 4-5 holes - Tiger was in extreme pain - he should not be playing - talk about tough.

I love JD, but I’m sorry…..diabetes and arthritis is no excuse for the PGA allowing use of a cart. Shouldn’t Tiger get one too?

Anyway, as expected, JD will miss the cut and be free to enjoy Tulsa’s casinos all weekend

I agree - but Tiger has pride and self respect - something JD never had and never will.  Sadly he was always going to end up like that - obesely fat alcoholic pissing away money on the pokies - and it is only gonna get worse.

Pereira IS the real deal it seems. Zalatoris can play too, great iron player who got screwed a bit by the pandemic schedule. Runner up in a Masters debut speaks volumes. Stewart Cink approaching 50 and playing maybe his best golf ever, Rory hanging in there too

A stacked leaderboard and a decent weekend coming up I think…..anyone but JT or the caddie stiffer Kuchar

Brutal day in Oklahoma, windy and 57F. Leaders still 90 minutes from teeing off, the bottom guys below really had a bad day. Poor Tiger, just buried a long birdie to hopefully break 80, but his body just can’t take a whole  4 rounds anymore, unless it’s flat. I applaud him for the effort though.

Rory and Tiger both said how unfortunate it is Phil is not back to defend, everyone would like to see him

Oh my things are tightening up. Rory almost makes an ace from 200+ yards, unfortunately it only gets him back to E. Still within 6, but looking like another ho-hum Major Top 10.

Can’t believe my 44-1 on Bubba might pay off…..beginner’s luck. It’s obvious the major pressure always gets to the rookies, even on Saturday. It’s not only the crap weather

Mito righted the ship, finishes 3 clear of Fitz and Zalatoris…..Bubba and Rory really threw some shots away, very disappointing. Hard to pick a winner, even if he’s 3 clear Mito has zero experience on this stage. Should be a good final round, forecasting 20C

For those that missed Tiger’s Friday round…..is it just me or he’s been hitting the gym hard? Absolutely jacked, personally I’ve always thought being that muscular didn’t help him

Mate - I have been thinking the same thing for a while now - including Rory and most others. Added muscles means more power and distance, but less feel. But because Tiger is older and stiffer (and all the injuries and scars) he just does not have the flexibility of Zalatoris etc.  Just look at how bad Tiger was with his irons, he was worse than Rory - they both have the same trouble - lack of feel when putting some power into the shot. Rory is great when it is all feel (bunkers/up/downs), but from 50-150 he is outside top 100 on tour. Maybe if Rory gave away 5-10kgs muscle and 30-50 yards with driver, that he would become more accurate with irons to the greens. At his best that is what he did - stiffed his irons nearly every time.

I like the look of Fitzpatrick - the worse the course/weather, the better he seems to do. But as you said Mito looks the real deal too - but on Sunday as a 'rookie' he will be under extreme pressure - if he wins then he is going to be a contender for a while. Mito is older (27?) and just coming good - therefore he has the toughness - otherwise he would have quit years ago.  As they say - sometimes the class players take a bit longer to develop - Fitzpatrick is also 27 and has yet to win on PGA Tour. Gonna be a great last day watching those 2 play together - hope one of them wins it and the other one does well (not crash and burn).

Leaders still 80 minutes from teeing off. Conditions look easier than Saturday, best rounds are Streelman with 67 and Rahm a 68, otherwise E par looks to be a decent score.

Rory birdies 2 to get within 8, can he possibly post something and hope for a collapse? 5 over on those 2 par 3’s yesterday…..ouch m! He’d be right there now
