  1. There are a group of us who meet monthly for a meal with yesterday being the last such occasion- this morning I know I’ve been out ! The Kensington Arms was the choice this month for 11 like minded gentleman Lots of decent red wine plus at least 8 pints of Amstel after means today is a gym day to sweat some of it out 😂😂

  3. The cemeteries in Kanchanaburi are worth a visit ( Don Rak and Chong Kai ) , as is Hell Fire pass , then is also a small museum next to Don Rak ( I wouldn't bother with the JEATH museum, I thought it was disappointing when I visited) I also visited the Taukkyan Cemetery in Burma back in 2015 when the country started opening up ... my Dads uncle was captured when Singapore fell and was part of the forced Labour , luckily he survived, the museum was able to give me loads of information we didn't have and the name of the camps he worked during that period My Grandad fought in Burma and was in the Chindits ( Wingate's Army ) , again he survived, so both these places were really interesting for me

  7. Not sure why they have knocked the trees down, maybe on last legs and for safety reasons, christ used to see a guy there for years sittin under one of the trees feeding pigeons every day,he won't be happy. Progress I think not. At first ye I thought upside down, well it is,bus alas tit it's the same at the front. Before they built the standard, used to be a big old tree, id chill at this spot and go swim when first moved here, progress my arse. Ive a feeling if this guy finds something of value he should keep lips sealed.

  8. @Yesitisdakid had mentioned earlier this week what used to be Fever on Bong Koch 8 was being redone as a bar. I don't normally ride down that side of the block of buildings, but detoured that way for a couple of photos of the WIP. The new owners were there so chatted a bit with them. When I asked what the bar's name would be, they hadn't decided on one yet. Thought that kind of strange as I would think that's one of the first things you would do when pulling licenses and starting construction on a new bar. They also didn't know when they would open.

  11. I want to see the fuckers on the next Pattaya News Bulletin on Monday being loaded into the back of a Police Pickup and driven round town so the locals can "express their disappointment" in any way they choose ...

  13. Years ago wifey and went to Black Mountain Waterpark, had a blast. Your son will enjoy ANY of the waterparks in Hua Hin Just don't let him go near this guy in the downtown area..that's reserved for you LOL!

  14. Isn't that a strange phenomenon on Soi 4? Punters spend 1000s to fly half way around the world to stare at each other across a 4 - 5 meter wide street. Wait until greta finds out. I used to stop in at that Hooters but after the 2nd visit I figured out it was cheaper to sit over at Stumble Inn and the others on that side and stare at the Hooters fans. Service staff at Stumble Inn will endure the arduous trek over Soi 4 to Hooters for you if you just have to have their wings.

  15. Pity I can't share my Hua Hin thread that I created on PattayaLive a few years back, that had so much in it, even if some of the items aren't all relevant now. Can't remember how old your child is but a trip to Vana Nava Waterpark is a must. In fact if you stayed at the Holiday Inn you will have free unlimited entry to the park. https://www.vananavahuahin.com/ A trip to Pala U Waterfalls with a car is a worthwhile trip, various levels can be ascended although some are tougher than others. It's on the road out of Hua Hin that would pass by the road off to Wat Mongkol, so could do both in the day. The link below highlights the National Park of Kaeng Krachan of which Palu U is part of. There is a map if moving down through the link. https://www.thainationalparks.com/kaeng-krachan-national-park The guys have mentioned quite a few other side trips, but there are a few others including Swiss Farm north of Cha Am which is worth a short visit if with smaller children. Afternoon tea at the Centara and drinks on the 27th floor rooftop bar of the Holiday Inn, while looking straight down through the glass are both enjoyable. The following link is TripAdvisor's view on 10 best things for kids but, for me, the list applies to adults as well. If you like good atmosphere, good food and music then a trip down to Cicada Market (near Khao Takiab) is a must. The Tamarind market is directly next door and easily accessible, actually it is my favourite place as that is where the best food is. When I was there in September last, the food was so good; I had a massive plate of the large prawns for 300 baht and a good size plate of scallops for 150. There are pizza stations and other great food options. The stalls in the Cicada Market sell some interesting wares, I am sure the wife would love it. I would suggest getting a Grab or taxi as parking can be a nightmare. It is open only on weekends. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g297922-Activities-zft11306-Hua_Hin_Prachuap_Khiri_Khan_Province.html Love Hua Hin, even when just talking about it lol

  18. I decided to have a shave today so I had to boil a kettle as we've no hot water on tap up here in Korat. On looking inside said kettle there was a dead spider floating in there.Probably about half an inch in diameter. So it's quite likely that I've been drinking tea infused with essence of boiled spider....😂

  21. I wandered into this food court type place about a year ago I was in the neighborhood I wanted to get something to take home so I figured I'd give him a try. Never bothered asking how much the food was because I learned from another expat that life is too short to worry about spending money on something like food that you enjoy. In any event I brought the food home it was so good I couldn't believe how cheap it was and that's why I returned if they went up 50% on the prices I would still be going back. It's just good food

  26. It may be a consequence of YT reducing their payments. That might have a welcome weeding out process and result in survivors reducing expenses. There seems to be far fewer 'meetups' for Pattaya Vloggers. Guess there is a limit to how many videos people can watch of look at me assholes.

  27. Lots of family stuff to do,tho if you have been several times you may have done all the popular trips like sam roi yod, nakhon cave, kui buri elephant park, kang krachang national park,if you havent been i defo recommend a trip to ao manao,go up to the top of yellow temple,ao manao bay. Cha am is a nice visit for a day for a different vibe and imo a better beach, shoppin malls still same same as 7 years ago, thats all i can think of at the moment off the top of my head as away to go out, cheers.

  28. Just signed in to my Hotmail account to be advised my storage limit has been reached. Seems I am only allowed 5GB of storage on OneDrive which includes Hotmail. I have 19.1Gb across OneDrive and they are now not allowing me access unless I pay. OK, I can delete a lot of email attachments etc., and transfer a lot of photos to another storage capability but after doing a lot of checking, it appears I can have 50 GB storage including 15 GB on Hotmail so for just £1.99 a month, I have just signed up, and now every thing is syncing and I can now receive emails. My Hotmail has always been my account for everything, so moving to Gmail or another service is just not practical. I am expecting some very important emails relating to financial benefits so the payment was a no brainer, it was quick and easy to do. I am only paying for the Microsoft 365 ability to have email and OneDrive storage, I am not interested in the Office part.

  30. Say what?? Surely you jest - I wouldn't go near the damned place if it wasn't to meet up with you and the others - I don't think Hooters belongs on Soi 4 and would never go there to drink or eat; and I can't remember the last time I paid an overpriced barfine on Soi 4, lol...

  31. My mum & dad took me twice to the War museum when I was a kid & I last went there around 5 years ago with an old RAF mate. Duxford is also a very interesting place, even when there's no display flying going on.

  32. Trigger finger (stenosing tenosynovitis) is related to the tendons, gout is related to the joints so not the same. https://orthoinfo.aaos.org/en/diseases--conditions/trigger-finger/ I have a trigger finger, if I make a fist and then relax my hand it can sometimes look like this. One finger remains curled up. (My hand is cleaner and I trim my nails). I can straighten it by pushing my fingers out/up like a Thai dancer. It doesn't hurt.

  33. It is interesting how most Pattaya Vloggers have changed their tune over the years .. 10 years ago it was all sneering "This is where cheap charlie broke expats eat" to "You should try this place for real Thai food, cheap and delicious" .....
