I am starting to think a plan to flood Pattaya with Chinese might really be in the works.......

No other possible reason to keep building more and more and more hotels and condos.....Dont see Farangs come flooding back ever......And despite it sounding like caricature pigeon holing, MOST  Indians go for the older cheaper hotels whos hey-day was 20-30 years ago, seen it a million times....So that leaves only the Chineses to fill these rooms....

Yes, I tend to agree. I have a feeling that casinos will enter into the equation before too much longer, justified on the grounds of needing to kick-start the tourist economy.

I agree...All this underground Casino busting in the news all the time now, leads me to think they are just clearing out the riff-raff so the big players can take over....

another huge flat area primed for tour busses ....

Current plans show the 747 surrounded by tat stalls and other small businesses, with larger units on two sides, and only a small parking area to the rear (beach side) of the plot.  Could easily change I suppose.

I have never seen anything fun or sanook or exciting about flights on a airplane....I sure as heck would not want to hang out or eat a meal on a airplane if I had a choice in the matter.......

So whos the target customer for this airplane?....I seriously doubt its farangs especially those who have have taken many international flights.....

Maybe it's for Thais who have never flown in a big bird?

I don't get it....

I would think it is for Thais, doubt they are spending money on a project to keep Farangs happy or to listen to negative comments.

Thais will lap it up as anything quirky is something they like.

I expect Thais will take to it but of course there maybe coffee club members nearby just complaining about it.

group tours of thai's or asians - its big money - have you ever been to coffee war on the 331 the other side of silverlake? - great money maker - they charge 30baht for parking and people turn up in their droves to go and 'sit' and have a coffee in an aeroplane. For Thais its all about photo's and 'showing' to their friends

it will be Thais I think. As so often happens here, a copycat of the one in Ban Amphur which, pre COVID at least, had queues to get in most days. Whenever something “works” it always seems to get copied pretty quickly.

Based on how thin the concrete pad they're pouring this morning, think the Soi Love Inn and Arunotai corner is getting something more like the shops on the opposite side of the soi.

And a bit farther up Soi Love Inn more decorative metal work going up on the Nirun market.

I haven't seen this one mentioned much, if at all, but opposite Central on 2nd Road this is taking shape.  Picture taken from the other side from the Buakhaow daily market.

on the new hotel in Soi Buakhao 15 they have after 15 months started taking down the dust sheeting - looks like they are finishing the sealing up of the rooms. Still be probably another 12-18 months before the hotel is finished

The Hotel will be called the Amethyst - the website has been reported as dodgy - so have linked to their facebook page 🙂
