Following on from the video I posted earlier, this is the Z900 50th anniversary model in red old style GPZ colours. Looks fucking awesome!.

Yeah, shows how the retro colours are so much nicer than the dull colours of most modern bikes.

Now this to me is a nice-looking modern bike, although I'm sure it's a few years old - the styling is tasteful with smooth curves instead of weird angles poking out all over and it is a lovely  colour...

Yeah, I'm a lover of the older curved shape bikes rather than the newer angular ones.

The GPZ500 started production mid 80's and ran for about 20 years or so.

OK so up to now this looks like pics just taken out on the street, not that there is anything wrong with that. Just thought I would try something a little different.

I had one of these way back in the early 80's. Honda TL125.

It's what I did to it that made it a bit special.

As it was built in 1975 before the lights and indicators rule it could be registered without them. I had a small rubber bulb horn on it. The speedo was about 30mm dia right down at the front hub.

It had an aluminum silencer, air filter box, front bumper bracket and Renthal handlebars.

12 tooth sprocket as the primary and IF there had been a tacho it would have red lined at 3mph in first. I used to keep it in my cellar and stand it on the back wheel to "walk" it up and down the outside steps.

Did the frame in Finnigans Hammerite black paint.

It had new Koni shocks on the rear.

The number plate was the smallest size that was legal. Every time I took it out the cops would stop me. Luckily it was fully legal.

It was so light that I could pick it up

Used to take it here on the weekends.

During the second world war the hill steepness was increased and tanks were tested there.

There was a POW camp built on the top of the hill.

Was sad to sell it before coming to Australia, but bought a 250 soon after getting here.

Wonder what the cover in front of the radiator does for the cooling, esp in the heat out there.

Would think it would be okay, maybe the fan cut in a little quicker. Still has a decent amount of access for the air to get in. My radiator cover has more coverage of the radiator than that one.

Agreed but the exhaust on the second pic looks awesome. In the USA that would fry people on the sidewalk!0B0A0942.jpg.d146a650b7568bb09eef363a541

I find it interesting how people look at things in different ways.

To me that exhaust is bloody awful, does not look remotely good and whilst may sound macho for the 'Boy Racer' when he rides round the block, it would be major headache inducing when on a trip. Even more so when in the hills / mountains and the noise is bouncing off of the cliff face.

When I bought my Z800 a year ago it came without a baffle in the Akrapovic exhaust,it had been removed by a previous owner.

Proper got on my tit's on longer ride's so spent £50 on one. So much nicer now. Still sounds good, just not so annoyingly loud.

Plus I leave for work at 5.15am so the neighbors will be happy.🤣

My Harley had a Vance & Hines Propipe 2-1 which was as noisy as hell.My last contract before I retired was only 30 miles up the road so I used the bike whenever it wasn't raining, setting out at around 6.30am.I did ask the neighbour next to our garage if it woke them & she said it did but don't worry as the dogs woke them around that time anyway.I had a tight fitting helmet so the noise on the road never bothered me.

Loud pipes save lives!
