  10. About to have a breakdown. Been trying to change a direct debit on the bank app on the phone. Rent's gone up £20 a month to cover the increased fuel bill. Will my app let me do it?. Of course not. Need a card reader which is broken. Have to order a new one. 7 to 10 days. If anyone tells me technology is making life easier I will come round and stab you to death.

  11. That was one of the reasons I drank, pure boredom. Being an addictive personality added in made it a disaster. Being given two years to live by your doctor and almost losing your job soon makes you see sense. You really can't keep up that lifestyle if you actually care about staying alive.

  12. Yes, I agree that ditching the booze is a very good start. I will drink when I go on holiday but keeping off the booze at home and on other social occasions seems not to be an issue for me. I have a very good friend who walks and eats better but gets through a bottle of wine a night and a bottle of JD lasts no more than 2 days and he wonders why his weight won't go down. I have told him that the weight might be the least of his problems when drinking JD at such a quick rate with wine as a chaser. He is just bored and therefore drink is something to keep him going which is a problem he needs to come to terms with.

  14. That salmon looks lovely. Don't have it as often as I used to as the prices have soared. But always a nice treat. I opted for a slab of ribs from the local Harris Teeter. This is only half of them. I'll have the other half tomorrow with some healthy greens and maybe some corn bread. Only $10 for the whole slab. I walked into a rib joint the other day, dying for some ribs as I haven't had any in ages. They were wanting $17 for just a half slab, I walked out. This helped "ease my pain".

  15. Apologies if this seems non-PC, but the more I hear about last night’s show, the more it pisses me off. It’s like the movie performances weren’t that important, the Academy just felt the pressure to give Will Best Actor, along with that woman whose name I never heard of, Supporting Actress for West Side Story. Even seen many tweets from Black folks, who openly supported the assault, yet were honest enough to say Will’s acting was better in Ali, and no way he deserved it this year. I understand having pride in your culture, but so many moments last night, instead of just pure joy, seemed like an “us against them” mentality. I will never support that, whether it’s sports, in a local business, or Hollywood. I was born several years after Blacks still had to piss in different washrooms, so never experienced that level of racism. But growing up, I don’t know, if there was a Black kid in school, they always fit in very well, it was only skin colour and didn’t make a difference . Now 30+ years later, with all the “strides” we’ve supposedly made, I find the divide is worse than ever…..is that progress? Nope

  16. No pics but I have been eating much better food (well to lose weight anyway). Haven't had a drink in almost 4 weeks. Diet started 3 weeks ago consisting of porridge, chicken, wholegrain dark Ryvita, oat cakes, protein shakes, avocados, bananas, cottage cheese, swiss cheese, eggs, eggs, eggs, beef, chia seeds, brown basmati with quinoa and pumpkins, easy peeler oranges, chilli hummus, green tea, Greek yoghurt and a few other healthy options. Lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks which is a good start. Kind of took my cue from @galenkia after looking at myself in a mirror and deciding that I really needed to lose some weight. Was going to the gym which assists the loss of weight but I read that over 80% is in your diet if seriously wanting to achieve a weight loss goal. My heart tablets are to be blamed a little bit as the doctor says they will increase weight and age does not help as I am soon to be 67 but lack of meaningful exercise during the winter hasn't helped. Feeling good at the moment and hope to lose another 14 lbs before I attend a reunion at the beginning of May. Funny thing is that after the first week of not drinking I have no desire to drink any alcohol and the food options are not as bad as they seem, some tasty meals are easily put together.

  17. The thing is they're all actors. Nothing is actually 'real' for them. But the consequence is that real people in real life situations will model this behavior and there'll be more and more confrontation over minor issues. And...a lot of dipshits will film it trying to get a million 'likes.'

  18. Thinking fucking hell, this Woke bollocks is ridiculous ... Men are reportedly being asked whether they are pregnant before being given radiotherapy. Cancer patients and those having X-rays and MRI scans are being asked the question, even if they are not women because the word 'female' has been replaced by 'individuals' for medical procedures. In Liverpool, the Walton Centre NHS Trust now asks 'all patients under the age of 60, regardless of how you may identify your gender' whether they could be having a baby. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10662257/Hospitals-asking-men-PREGNANT-beginning-cancer-treatment-report-claims.html

  20. If I may - as an Aussie - say what is 'wrong' with English cricket. Answer - the same thing as English Football. The EPL is all about making money for the Clubs, not making players to play for England. County Cricket is all about the County cricket clubs, not about making players to play for England. I can assure you, having been involved in it myself, the main reason all cricket competitions exist in Australia is to identify and develop players for the Australian Team. Period. End of. That my friends is exactly how all the Rugby competitions in NZ are structured and managed too - for only that one reason. And that is why, over time, Australia is the best cricket team in the World, and the All Blacks are the best Rugby team in the World. Let me give you Pommies another tip. Batsmen do not 'make' Bowlers - it is bowlers that make batsmen. You cannot identify and develop world class batsmen, when the wickets are all 'easy' for the bowlers, and the bowlers are bowling too many overs in too many games.. You have got to closely watch the talented young fast bowlers and both protect and develop them at a National level - leave them with the local Clubs and Tymal Mills is what happens. Imagine if you had a fit and strong Tymal Mills and Jofra Archer who were correctly developed and only bowled when and at who the National people wanted them to - that is how you identify world class batsmen. Otherwise all you tend to get is good lookers who smash average bowlers, but who fail under the big test against world class bowlers. That is how we identified Ponting, Smith, Border, Waughs, etc etc etc. when they were 15-17. And that is why so many batsmen from Sth Africa do well in the England side - they were identified and developed properly.

  21. At least Will Smith has the decency to admit he was wrong. Will Smith issues apology to Chris Rock over slapping incident at Oscars Will Smith has issued an apology for striking presenter Chris Rock at Sunday's Academy Awards. In a post on Instagram on Monday afternoon, Smith called his behavior "unacceptable and inexcusable." "Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada's medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally," he wrote. "I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness." Smith added in his post that, "Violence in all forms is poisonous and destructive." He also included in his note an apology to "the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world," as well as the family of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams and those involved with the film for which he won his best actor award on Sunday. "I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us," he wrote. "I am a work in progress." ...

  24. Some great points there. County Cricket teams make their money from the white ball game and hosting International matches. It's why the County Championship games get played outside the peak weather months, to keep the best weather season for the money making white ball and Test matches. And it's showing in the red ball game. Lucky if a County game lasts 3 days never mind the reduced 4 days. Weather gives the bowler advantage, even the average trundler. Never gonna get a decent batting side as they are only playing in bowler friendly conditions. Mill's and Archer, while both have talent, are unfortunately fragile so will never be able to replace Broad and Anderson. Robinson also looks injury prone,Overton is okayish, and Woakes don't usually do well away. We are in a dire mess basically. Very little in the way of batting or bowling in the red ball game.

  28. Great effort mate, well done. I found that cutting out animal products made weight fall off. A lot of fat in meat and dairy. Even dieting,it will take more work if you still include these products. At least that's my personal belief. Some great healthy food options out there these days, it's a massive market so companies looking to get good products out there. The days of tasteless veggie food is long gone.

  33. I used to do them ('background checks") for a stint. Did them for about 2 years (among other things), it was something I would get assigned to from time to time. It's been over 25 years now since I have had to do one, so I'm sure things have changed. I am sure there are many different levels depending on the type of job, company that is doing them, etc. Basically there is a guide that you follow, interview people, records checks, credit checks, etc. etc. etc, If something pops up that may appear "questionable" then they (the investigator working the check) may contact you on a follow-up to give you an opportunity to present "clarification". Following that they will prepare a report and present it to your prospective employer who may or may not get input (feedback impression from the investigator). Often many things can be accepted or overlooked (depending what they are, how long ago, and of course your demeanor, honesty, etc.). The investigators feedback can in some cases be crucial in regards to that role in the hiring process. The bottom line.... if they really like you many things can be overlooked. Most jobs have probationary terms. If you have something questionable they can perhaps prepare language in your contract (or in some cases a side letter) which lays out conditions. This is placed in your file and those that are aware of the terms will probably be kept "confidential" (maybe only one or two people would be aware). In some cases once the term of probation is met you can ask (or it may even be automatic) where that letter or condition would be removed from the file (like it never existed). I have had two cases where I took a chance on some guys. In other words they could have been denied employment just on some things I discovered during the check. I liked both guys, and I took a chance with them. Basically I kind went with my gut and stuck my neck out a little (ultimately it is the hiring boss' responsibility though, not my decision). One of those guys I took a chance on turned out to be an "All Star" (one of the best guys I've ever worked with). The other guy turned into a complete disaster.... the guy was so f***d up he eventually got fired and years later committed suicide. I still sometimes wonder if I should have given him a break at the time. Something I will never know the answer to.

  34. So, handed completed job application forms in, only had to fill in 17 of the 50+ forms they sent me. 🤣 They have all my ID pictures and stuff. Just completed the online application form from the company doing the DBS check, had to give them all my info plus permission for them to investigate me. Probably know I've been to Cambodia a couple of times and might be Gary Glitter in disguise. Well I've been a leader of a gang in the past. 🤣 What a fucking pallaver just to take motorbikes apart. 🤣 Gonna need a holiday to get over the stress of all this drama.

Ukraine would no longer be the lead item on the news and every lefty would be taking the knee in solidarity. Meghan and Harry would Tik Tok themselves crying .... Chris Rock is a funny guy ...... and rode the slap ..... which looked quite powerful.
