  3. I have a bit of house envy. My brother's house. On the other hand, he has to spend most of his waking hours mowing the grass. His neighbor's apple trees are blooming. Which is making the bees happy. Local park had them dancing in the aisles with polka music.

  4. Just got back from the hospital and another meeting with internal medicine. All looks great, except for me feeling like shite. She said I have to re-introduce exercise, and my lower pulse/BP point to maybe even being off the beta-blocker soon……maybe still a chance at a normal life I even decided to drive home, first time behind the wheel in 2023. Went OK, a little nervous though

  8. Just half way through giving my bathroom and toilet a deep clean. I stink of bleach and I hate it. But I have guests coming round tomorrow for the day and I don't want them to think that I am a lazy slut. It's not that bad anyway. Not as if the walls are caked with shit😁😁😁

  9. Probably only those who haven't bothered to do any research think the vaccines appeared out of nowhere. In fact mRNA vaccines were 50 years in the making. In the 1970s it was demonstrated that introducing foreign mRNA into a cell would cause the cell to express the foreign protein encoded by the mRNA. In 1989 Robert Malone showed how mRNA could be transfected into cells and being translated into foreign protein. Unfortunately the direct injection of mRNA caused a severe inflammatory response. In 2005 after 7 years of research Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman published a paper describing how modifying one of the nucleosides of the mRNA eliminated the inflammation problem. That paper was read by Derrick Rossi who in 2007 with his own lab at Harvard Medical School asked one of his postdoctoral fellows to investigate. By 2009 he had the answer, it worked. In 2010 Rossi and others formed Moderna to commercialise the findings. In 2015 Moderna produced a candidate vaccine for the H10N8 influenza virus. In 2017 Moderna produced a polyvalent candidate vaccine for hMPV virus and parainfluenza virus. In 2019 Moderna produced an mRNA encoded antibody therapeutic. In 2013 Karikó joined BioNTech heading up their mRNA division. Across the pond the Jenner Institute at Oxford University had been working on their CHADOX viral vector vaccine program since 2010. At the end of the day mRNA and viral vector vaccines have the same aim. To produce a strand of mRNA which is translated by a cell into a desired protein. In the case of Covid-19 the desired protein is the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. In 2012 Oxford had a candidate vaccine for Rift Valley Fever using their CHADOX system. In 2018 a MERS candidate vaccine. So by 2020 all the mRNA and viral vector vaccine makers had to do was change the template for the desired protein, the rest of the system was in place. And they received that template on 10/11 January when the Chinese put the full genome of the SARS-CoV-2 virus online. Within a month Moderna had their first candidate vaccine and within 2 months it was going into arms for clinical trial. And all it took was 50 years.

  17. That was my best guess too. 555555 Thanks guys, just got home at 3pm absolutely starving, I didn't eat this morning in case I had to have an op. Good news - turns out my urine was clear of everything they tested for. Bad news - My stomach just below my belly button is very tender and the prognosis is I may have a hernia. Got to visit my doctors surgery tomorrow to insist on getting it examined and hopefully scanned to make sure! I could of gone on my way home, but didn't want to have to sit and wait for hours to see a doctor with no food inside me.

  18. One for the Brits. ’Can I have a H please Bob’. 😀 For those who don’t know, there was a British game show in the 80’s / 90’s called Blockbusters, and the presenter was Bob Holness, and people would select letters saying ‘Can I have a (insert letter) please Bob. Remember back in the rave days having a t-shirt with’Can I have an E please Bob’ on it.😀

  22. Thanks guys. Had a good nights sleep last night and am in a less pain today which is good. I visited my doctors surgery as instructed and explained the situation to be told, "sorry, no appointments available today" I again stressed the fact that the Emergency unit had told me I needed to see a doctor ASAP for follow-up. Can you book me in for tomorrow. "Sorry sir, you can try calling after 8am for tomorrow's appointments." So what happens if I don't get one tomorrow? "Try the next day." Just as well it appears to be improving. The current position regarding seeing a Doctor is disgraceful.

  25. Back again in dear old Blighty…..sigh! Anyway, yesterday morning at Swampy was busy but not the clusterfuck I experienced back in January. Took around 40 mins to get from domestic arrivals through to the Miracle lounge (or whatever it’s called) at international departure. Was relatively painless and even included a ciggy stop, fast track would have been a waste of money. Thai Air TG916 was a way past its sell by date plane, 3x3x3 seating but as luck would have it had an empty one next to me, which makes all the difference. The food was meh as was IFE but the red wine was quite nice. landed at Heathrow a couple of mins early with hopes of getting the 8pm bus to Bournemouth but unfortunately and very annoyingly, we were given some BS about another plane on the stand and had to wait 30 mins. Turns out 6 police boarded and arrested a couple…….. so that was the real reason for delay. No wait at all at the border and I didn’t have checked luggage so it took just 15 mins after leaving the plane to get to central bus station.

  26. I don't think anyone is being silenced at all. There are lots of theories out there on Social Media platforms, especially. To disagree is equally valid, it's not silencing I consider myself as a reasonably responsible person and had I caught the virus, I would Not have spread it knowingly to others. As far as I am aware, the vaccines I received have not damaged my health. If it were a tiny drop.of pee, that would not be harmful either. Whatever the rights or wrongs, governments had little choice. If they were slow to act, then they would have been criticised for that. What's done is done. Personally I am happy that I have not knowingly had the virus and that if I had, I would have isolated until I was no longer contagious I don't blame people for getting vaccinated. Some refused, it wasn't mandatory. I didn't see it as a magic bullet but part of a package to fight against the Pandemic, along with testing, masks, social distancing etc. If people had not started dying in the numbers that they had or beconing seriously ill, then I suspect that government responses would have been different. I don't particularly feel like a sheep or blame the government. I do blame top ministers who flaunted the rules that they had made for the public, but that is a slightly different matter. Everyone is entitled to their opinions relating to vaccines and the C19 pandemic and usually based initially on their own experiences. Unfortunately the dead cannot speak. I was advised by my Doctor to get vaccinated. I am not a scientist nor a health professional, and I took his advice. I could have equally rejected that advice if I had chosen to but at the time there was little evidence to suggest otherwise Neither did I buy into the conspiracy theories that were being circulated by ativaxxers. My question, which none of us really know the answer to, is what would have happened if we had done NOTHING? We simply don't know how long the Pandemic would have lasted, how many would have become hospitalised, how many deaths there would have been That is impossible to know. I don't have a problem with anyone who having their opinions about the vaccines and its too late anyway, what done is done. I just want to move on like most people and get back to normality. I can't change the past Hopefully, the world maybe be better prepared should there be a similar Pandemic in the future and that the advances in science will play a big part.

  33. Just switched on the TV and watched first 10 minutes of the Eurovision semifinals 1. What a load of bollox. I felt embarrassed to watch and listen. They should all be arrested and charged with crimes against music 😄the very worst of European music. Its all political in the end and a complete waste of money IMO. Croatia's entry is frighteningly awful, both visually and musically. Aresholes jumping around on stage wearing ridiculous costumes making a diabolical racket Absolute bollox Sweden's entry looks like a female version of Edward Scissorhands I've lost the will to live 😁😁

  36. Arriving in ban krut was quicker than expected, the train made up time,we caught a small motorbike sidecar taxi 60 to our resort. Staying at ban krut resort the same resort we stayed at about 5 years ago,but chose the upper balcony room instead of bungalow as bigger. Ban krut still looks the same as it did all those years ago, maybe 1 or 2 more restaurants along the beach road now,and the resort has a big pool in place of the road that led to bungalows

  38. I thought I would post this here, as it may begin to affect what you are not watching on Netflix or anything else. This is occurring in the US at this point. The Screen Writer's guild have gone on strike. The main reason for this is that the writers are receiving less money due to the way that streaming service contracts are structured. Here is a recap. https://edition.cnn.com/2023/05/03/media/writers-strike-reliable-sources/index.html The main take away IMO is that neither party is going to give ground in the near future. As the article said the last strike of this nature that occurred about 15 years ago lasted 100 days. So what is the immediate effect, if any: The Late Night Talk Shows (Colbert etc.) have halted production. SNL has suspended the rest of their season. Network execs appear unwilling to negotiate because they feel they have enough in the can to go a long way. I suspect we will be seeing crap in the can soon. The last season of "Stranger Things" has halted production. Now wait a minute here. Some news articles are calling the strike a fear of AI reaction. I disagree. I would call it an outrage of being ripped off by big business. Ok, I am on the writer's side.

  42. I used to love dog racing when I was a kid, our local track was at Cardiff Arms Park and my dad ended up owning half a dozen greyhounds, including the track champion for several years running, Aladdin. Once we got into it, our holiday every year was to head over to Dublin to have a look at the latest blood there and see if there was anything worth buying. That involved lots of trips out to farms in the countryside to meet breeders, and inevitable we ended up down the pub getting blottoed. We'd go to the races at Shelbourne Park and Harolds Cross, and got to know a lot of the local greyhound racing community, a lovely bunch they were too. A shame that the sport has dropped out of fashion, in terms of a fast-paced, fun night out there was nothing to beat it. Here's Aladdin, and another of our prize winners, Lisa's Treasure
