  1. Wishing I was single. The missus is paranoid about security and keeps the door locked for the room we are staying at in her mum's place. Both keys for the lock are on the same keyring and what does she do but lock the keys in the room. The niece's husband and myself have spent the last hour unbolting the security grill on the external window. We just got it open enough so he could slide through and open the door. The missus made the mistake of thinking it was funny. I don't think she realised how pissed off I was. All good now until the next misadventure occurs.

  4. I've turned into a Leicester City fan. The owner of Leicester City, who is also the owner of King Power, and this hotel, after his father died in the horrific helicopter crash, Is coming to the hotel bar area to cheer on the team at 7.30pm Thai time. Loads of security, as you can imagine, but I've been told they will try to fit me in at the back if it's possible. I think told them I was a personal friend of @Derek Dangleberries and @john luke, and they took a sharp intake of breath, mumbled something about Leeds scum, and nearly had be arrested. Suffice to say my invite was rescinded due to top of the table drama. Can't help but think their 'Road back to the Premiership' slogans might be a tad premature. But anyway, i expect to see some pretty heavy security about the hotel lobby tonight. C'mon the Siamese Foxes!

  5. About a year ago a neighbor replaced their aging 1000 L water tank and offered it to us for free. I agreed to take it off their hands as it would double the capacity of our rainwater collection system for my lady's garden. So after a year of procrastinating I finally got around to hooking it up to the existing system. Over the last two days I reworked the plumbing, added a new, stronger booster pump, and added an additional water faucet outside our security wall so she could more easily water her plants along the soi. With everything finally hooked up the moment of truth finally arrived to test out the system. I opened the valves, primed and turn on the pump and was heartened to hear water gurgling through the pipes and out the open faucets. Only issue I noticed right away was I had put a gasket on the pump on backwards so it was leaking at the point. That was an easy fix. Not so easy was the leak my lady pointed out a few minutes later. She pointed out the drip, drip, drip of water leaking out the bottom of the inlet port on the inherited tank. A reminder you get what you paid for. I'm thinking that's going to be bastard to try and fix as the bottom half of the inlet port has slightly separated from from the tank. Best I can do is try to plastic weld the broken seam. Now on order from Lazada are HDPE plastic strips I'll need for the repair. I already have the heat gun, so in a few days we'll find out just how good my welding skills are. Here's pics of the entire system. The business end is tank no. 1 that collects the runoff from a downspout. A good downpour will easily fill half the tank before the storm moves on. Water from tank no. 1 is gravity fed to the inherited, tank no. 2. Still on my to do list is to raise tank no. 1 up about 20 cm so the top of each tank is about equal in height. That way when tank no. 1 is full, tank no. 2 will also be full. BTW, the original plan was to position tank on. 2 at the back of the house next to tank no. 1. Unfortunately when the tank was dropped off I discovered it wouldn't fit through the opening to the back of the house, so the front of the house is where it ended up. Rather than have an unsightly big blue tank outside my front door, I wrapped it in green netting to reduce slightly the unsightly factor. The final piece to the watering system is a 450W booster pump that's connected via a T joint to the line to both tanks.

  6. Having coffee, breakfast soon. This afternoon wifey is going out for " girls afternoon out" They will eat everything they shouldn't LOL! I am going to the Car Show at Impact Arena, will take the new "Monorail" system they have here that opened last Nov in Minburi called "The Pink Line" does not quite yet go all the way to Impact..one of the last stops has a shuttle that takes you over there. I hope all is well, the Yellow Line yesterday was stopped, parts of the railing/concrete etc fell on to the street, people were let off in the middle of the railway and had to walk to the nearest station. I love Thailand. I am hoping the "Triumph" girl is there, I kind of felt like last time I saw her, we had a connection

  7. I remember her well, her name was Ouy and I believe she became involved with a fellow who had business interests in the Philippines; he built the original single-shophouse Time Bar for her to run which she did for a couple of years at least, then I think it was sold and became the bigger venue we enjoy now. I haven't seen or heard anything about her since but I partied with her lots back in the Roadhouse days, she did have an ample chest and a lovely head of hair and was lots of fun: Sadly, she plumped out a little later, here's a photo from 2016:

  18. Probably as most night life places by definition put their best face forward when the lights come on. Like all businesses time will tell if the punt will be a success but given the infinite competing choices to wet one's whistle in Pattaya; it's not looking like a good bet. It is different though, sort of like socialism for bars, everyone has to accept the same pricing, same music, etc.

  19. Fair enough. I approach and assess all businesses I deal with on the basis of what they can do for me. If this complex "offers" me "value, etc" I will check it out with a view to possible future visits. The great thing about Pattaya is that there are heaps of places to choose from.

  20. Well regarding good pricing the bar owners have no say in what the cost will be of drinks the ownership has said the drinks will be the same price for every bar in the complex. They feel it will be better to control things that way. I'm not sure I would be happy owning a bar and not being able to charge what I felt was a fair price. I'm also thinking that there won't be many two for one offers as it looks like things like that pricing and it's such we'll have to go through the owners not the individual bar owners but the owners of the whole place. As far as music goes hopefully everybody will like the same type because on a better note I think it's going to be one type of music for the whole complex so they won't be fighting each other with separate music systems. That could be okay if the bars can agree on what will be played when. I for one hope this place is very successful looking forward to the opening night

  24. A truss bridge design is a careful balance of compression and tension on the trusses. Take out a key part of the bridge, like happened in the collision, and the whole thing will come crashing down like a house of cards in seconds. https://en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/Truss_bridge

  25. Hey folks, I've been a Pattaya Addicts member since 2019, but have been coming to Thailand since 2011. I haven't been back since the very beginning of 2022, but I am looking at flights for May. I'm glad that this forum is focused on the entire country, as I hope to explore more areas in the near future.

  28. The original owner was American, from Oregon I think. He'd started and owned a number of different kinds of businesses in the States. It took him months to open Pitini as he imported a lot of the kitchen gear from Europe. The idea was to make the operation kind of fool proof in that it would be as automated as possible. He intended it to be a long term investment, but someone made him a great offer, so he sold it much sooner than he had intended and moved up north.

  32. My trip didn't work out as I hoped exercise wise , I only used the hotel gyms once on the trip and my step count only averaged 6,600 a day ... but I was fairly sensible on the booze front , I only had a few very daft nights out and I was mostly drinking vodka soda with a squeeze of lime .....1/3rd of the time I would only have a couple of small beers / glasses of wine and 1/3rd were booze free .. I had a few big meals out , but mostly tried to keep it healthy for breakfast and have one other meal a day the result was .. I lost 5lbs ( 2kgs ) on my two month trip .... not as much as I hoped , but still happy ... now to get back to a good routine at home with gym , Pilates and walking

  33. @thumper63 @lazarus Great pics guys, well done. Just doing some reminiscing from 2020 back home in "Man Jose" LOL! Springtime with my Roses in front of the house and of course a trip to The Rose Garden locally. Few other pics....and cause the gym was not open back then, I was forced to use dumb bells at home.....and wifey thought my impression of Boris Johnson was pretty good. The drive up Covid test was in full swing at that time too. Of course when she would go out with 2 of her other Thai friends locally here...she would dress like a bar girl. Bitch rarely dressed like this for me LOL!

  34. Immigration wasn't too bad, wasn't much of a queue that I noticed, though we were ushered to fast track as per usual. 5 mins max. Though took about 30mins for bags to come, but come they did, so all good compared to last 2 trips with EVA.
