In Jomtien, I saw these guys with their transit set up in the vacant lot across Soi 16 from my bedroom. That can’t be a good thing.

I guess these are going to be used to fence off the construction area.

Oh well, it’s only a rental, I can move it I can’t stand it.

I bet a pizza that this place has at least one very very large room that can be converted overnight into a Casino..... What this area Does Not need is more run-of-the-mill shopping.....

Here’s an update on the work going on across the street. I was first told it was going to be a larger condo. Then I heard it would be a parking garage for one of the two condos that it sits between. Finally; and this seems to be correct, they said it will be  a pair of duplexes, each with a private pool.

The construction is moving forward, all the pilings are in the ground and the foundation is poured. Some days there are about 20 people working, not counting the three children living with their parents on site. The first thing built was the living quarters for the crew. Corrugated metal huts. Not an easy life.

Soi Honey, work started on 3rd floor.

New place on Soi Honey looks like it will be a hotel. Wonder if they'll skip curtains for all that glass and go after the exhibitionist market.

IIRC, There was a news item about the farm. The farm was started by a taxi driver to earn money during the pandemic. From the continued expansion of the farm I'd say he's done quite well. Good on him.

Pictures from July 2020 when he first opened. If I'm not too hungover tomorrow I'll take a few pics of what the farm looks like now.

What I'm calling the Nirun food court has a new addition that is getting built quickly by Thai standards.

Last Saturday the new place looked like this.

This morning the place has a roof and landscaping.

And opposite a new place looks like they're getting ready to open.image.jpeg

Wonder if this vacant land is next for development.

On the right hand side of this photo you can just see the edge of a sign advertising for cooks, waiters and dishwashers.  It's name translates as Yuri Mookata Buffet and is opposite guess what?  Another mookata restaurant.

Looks like they're in the final phase of finishing the Akara hotel on Nakula Soi 31. That project started before the pandemic.

Yep.... I would tend to think we are at the end of the recent "building frenzy". The new major type projects we have been seeing the past 3 or 4 years I predict are going to begin to slow wayyyyy down. it will start to become more evident within the next six months or so.

And you can see the poles of another one being built next to the one being built. I suspect a lot of Mookata's in the area soon.

Not sure what this one is going to be.  Here's a couple from this morning.  The chequered bits could be bar fronts. Pool table at one end.

And just further along the road there's a total of 58 stalls in this food market with rent starting at 6,500 baht per month (a handful open to date) and probably 20 to 25 at the slightly older one across the road (not yet open).  Where are all the customers going to come from?

Hope the bars have a good sound systems as the roof is perfectly angled to direct the music towards Larry's place. :default_biggrin:

The one that's almost underneath me plays music nightly and it's yet to bother me I think too many people are oversensitive my sliding door to the balcony I'm pretty sure it's not double glazed because it's the original door from 25 years ago but it keeps out the noise just fine you can hear muffled sound but nothing I would be bothered with

There is a sunny side to growing older and losing some hearing.
