Cheapskate. 😄

My first night and barfine in Pattaya was in 2002 from the FLB bar.

As a newbie I asked the Manager how much I should pay the girl and was told

"She will be really happy if you give her 1,500 baht and 100 baht for a taxi in the morning."

So I became willing president of the "Lame Dupe Over Payers Club" and very popular with all the girls that followed. 🤣

Funny that manager spending your money just who was the manager :default_party-smiley-048:

What was his name?

On the tip of my tongue?

Nice guy and everybody's friend

Heard talk that he changed after his gambling/lifestyle addiction turned him into an evil, inveterate liar.

Shame that!

Bingo we have a winner. If you look at the timeline of when the forum started to become ignored by owners and management and the bar started failing you'll see they go hand in hand. The forum was started a bit over 1 year before the bar was even open which was pure brilliant marketing. We used to have satellite meetings at Adam's Cherry bar of members as well as Lenny's for those who remember it. We had secrets meetings before secrets was even built. It's a shame I feel bad because all the years I invested I still felt despite my leaving that my name would be attached to secrets in some way. Without that forum secrets would have went down faster than free beer. And that's a fact but it's all in the past too bad

I'm pretty sure you invested a lot of time as part of the success.

Also sure you didn't invest financially, you are a smart guy.

I’m getting strange Bugsy Siegel vibes, he sold 600% shares in Vegas’ first casino

Didn’t end too well…..

No, it didn't end well for Bugsy ...

That's the famous front-page newspaper photo of Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel in the Los Angeles morgue after he was shot to death through the living-room window of his girlfriend's home in Beverley Hills, CA.  No one was ever charged with the murder, but it is widely believed he was killed for skimming profits instead of paying back other mobsters who had financed the building of Siegel's Flamingo Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

The fictional character Moe Greene in The Godfather is based on Bugsy Siegel.  The movie got it right that Siegel was a major player in the development of Las Vegas as a world vacation and gambling center.  Siegel believed the combination of hotel casinos and top-class entertainment would attract both high-rollers and masses of low-level gamblers.  He was right, but didn't live to see his idea reach fruition.

I first met Phil when he was Manager at Baby Dolls. Secrets Bar and Forum were powering on with Soi7 at the helm.

Well a lot of sewerage has flowed under the bridge since then as most of us know and plenty has been alluded to in this thread.

Anyway, first time back in Thailand after the lockdowns was August 2022 for me. Phil had been posting the odd update on here and I wanted to pay him a visit at Le Pub,which I did. So in I went and ordered a beer, Phil was there having his dinner and there was one other bloke there. Anyway I started chatting and all seemed to be reasonable with LePub business wise. All good. Phil asked me if I had seen his YT channel and I said that I only did when someone posted a link to it on this forum, "well youtube is not for everyone" Phil said. I told him that I watched a lot of YT just not Thai vloggers. He stated again that his was a channel and not a vlog,  he did ask me what I did watch on YT which I replied documentaries and history stuff, also technical stuff. At that point two guys walked in who it seemed Phil was waiting for but not previously met. I heard them talking and mentioning FORUM, I butted in and asked which forum and got the reply "Addicts". Didnt bother introducing myself as I have not posted on PA for years. Oh well, they were all ignoring me now so I paid my bill and left.

Fair enough, Phil makes more money from PA members than 24/7 members, wish him the best of luck.

I also note that there were increasing numbers of Thai related YT posts as the pandemic went on. Most of us would be aware that YT will pay people who get a certain number views, And there was not much else to do during the lock downs so creating and consuming of YT was going strong and some folk found another way to make some money and best of luck to them.
