  3. Having a cold beer here in my new room in the Frangipani hotel in Galle Fort. After an early morning walk around the wall in the cool of a lovely breeze and a filling breakfast I moved into my new room. Aircon, tv, fridge and balcony, beauty. About 1pm I set off on the long trip into the city. As we fort people refer to the area about 500 metres from the front entrance, on the other side of the Galle cricket ground. I needed a local charger, check, thongs or sandals take your pick, check and some beer, check, six 500ml Lion Lager cans. Back to room, beer in fridge, switch on aircon, didn't effing work, no tv either. So after cooling down under the fan for awhile l went out for a feed and then for a few beers at a rooftop place with a lovely cooling breeze. Back to room, finally found one of the owners and got aircon working, tv will have to wait. Galle fort is very small and very nice, Cartegena in Colombia is bigger and better but also a long way away. Although those Colombian women were better looking, oh so hot. If l remember to take my tablet out on my morning walk l will post some pictures.

  8. Some good gigs you all have been to see recently......Yes, Asia and John Lodge was in July ( yeah I know, old progressive music is for hacks like me LOL!) Taking Rachanee to see the final Kiss tour Sept 16th here.....should be good, the critics hate them, but their farewell show looks outstanding. My Son is going to see Metallica Sept 8th here at the new Chase Center San Francisco. Eric Clapton, The Who, Elton John are all coming to the new Warriors Arena also.

  11. I also admired a lot of the late 50s early 60s bodybuilders..steve reeves, bill pearl, larry scott and Yorkshires finest Reg park, reg was a monster of a man who Arnold looked up to..

  12. Along with Lou Ferignno and Arnie, those 3 brought bodybuilding into the mainstream when it was a little known sport. And created a billion dollar business for guys like Joe Weider. RIP Franco.

  13. Arnold and him had what I consider nice physiques. Now the guys of today, who weigh maybe 75 pounds more than Arnie, with less fat, but distended stomachs because their organs get bigger with all the insulin and growth hormone......bloody disgusting. To push your body to those levels, in a sport where you can’t really make a good living unless you’re top 5 in the world, all the while shortening life expectancy......I shake my head. Ronnie Coleman, 8 straight Mr. O titles, 52 and needs a walker to move around. Was it worth it?

  14. Personally, I think that body building like that is grotesque but he must have worked hard to get his body in that shape.

  16. Welcome to the forum Saucy Jack 🤗 I retired to Thailand when I was 47, back in 99, when prices of property, exchange rates (76) and cost of living was so much cheaper for Brits. Now mostly back in UK, so can’t really comment on how things are for retirees now, other than to say it’s a lot more expensive when taking exchange rate into consideration. If I was thinking of doing it now I would spend a year looking around to find an area I liked, with good transport, shops, hospitals and bars (if that’s what you want) within easy reach. Plenty of rentals about at competitive prices, so take your time before committing yourself to a long rental. You will soon make friends in Pattaya, just choose wisely, take your time and I’m sure you will enjoy yourself. 👌👍

Ben Stokes a Tottenham fan eh ??? ...... c'mon you Gunners and Pele or whatever his name is ...

  20. fortuna was the best back then,. as with all the SUV they are basically the same chassis as the pickups BUT with one big difference. coil springs in the rear, whereas the pickups have leaf springs. i wish i could swap to coil in the fabmobile/pickup. but other than that, my car/wheelbarrow/boat has been the best. had it wrapped last year as the wite paint was beingcoming absorbant. sun, hand great and poor paint quailty will do that. the wrap ws around 23K. its bulletproof

  22. I think the only band I would pay good money to see nowadays is Tool. All my past faves have either retired or split up or are just touring for the money. And my fave of all time Kate Bush won't ever go north of Hammersmith feckin Odeon. Plus she's a fat cnut now so I'll stick to her earlier wankworthy stuff kop khun khrap.

  23. Great vehicle init, i can't quite believe how good it still looks and drives even after nearly 13 years but i don't abuse cars and have it serviced ever 6 months by the main Toyota dealer in Korat. I've never ever had a car this long in my life but there's no justification in changing it particularly when you consider how much it will cost to change, think exchange rate, when i bought in 2007 it cost 20K GBP at the then 75bht to the GBP, now to replace it would cost 43K GBP !!! Admittedly when i bought it cost 1.5M bht and is now 1.7M bht but that increase is only to be expected, like you i think it could be the last vehicle i need to buy judging by how its wearing.

  28. TBH, for somebody who wants to enjoy a relaxed retirement, this is not a bad place at all. It has about everything one may want at a certain age. And from what I experience since 2 years, the climat is much more easy. Again, girls are available everywhere in the world. Here also, simply not in your face 24/7.

  29. Among the festivities of the "Sanur Village Festival" there is a kite competition, held at the beach 10 min walking from my place. We went to have a look yesterday morning. It is a fairly big event with a lot of participants, many of them in teams. A few pics : Most teams arrive like this on small trucks : Or on something a bit different : Various teams at work : : A bit of local glin glin glin music.... And a mobil Indomart (7/11 is not present in Indo) What I like around here is those quiete street leading to the beach, with trees, looks a bit like at my place in France. A playground in operation : And 2 videos : 20190825_102112.mp4 20190825_105604.mp4 Of course as everywhere in this region maximum noice is a must for those kind of events, so off we were to our usual quiete beach zone for lunch . Cheers !
