Well Cliff, like you, me and many others, we are NOT the same as we once were....1976 was a long time ago. Pete Townshend was amazing that evening at "Winterland" One other thing that sticks with me as a 19 year old back then, how in god's name did Daltrey swing that microphone out into the audience like he did, several times it came close to me, then pull it back and continue singing and never miss?? Truly amazing.. God I miss the 70's.....4 points

Based on the escalating number of obviously bogus emails and text messages that I am receiving, I am of the opinion that scamming activity is on the increase in Fun City. I have also had a "pig butchering" contact. I enjoyed playing around with the later for a while, just to have them waste their time before cutting them off at the knees. The "pig butchering" initial approach came over Line. Anyway I was saddened to learn that a lady friend got taken in by a scam recently. She is usually a smart woman. The sophistication and masking of these scams seems to be getting more sophisticated. I had an email show up supposedly from DHL (had the logos etc.) saying that my package was being held because they needed my address and phone number. Glad I did not have an outstanding DHL request at that time.3 points

Ah Alan, yes "Gina" a fine choice..All natural, took this pic back on Halloween 2017. I think she was about 28 years old then, she is probably about 35 now.......beautiful Vietnamese girl for sure. Really nice personality and likes red wine.3 points

I am embarrassed to say. I had never heard of these guys until tonight. I may be familiar with some of their songs, but I didn't know about the band.2 points

Well he can't do that anymore. saw the Who last year & he sits on a chair for part of the performance. They are still a class act though vocals & guitar were spot on.2 points

Was by pure accident, my mate had turned the toaster up to maximum to cook some crumpets and forgot to turn it back down again. I didn't check as he never usually uses the toaster.1 point

I have my dads old AE-1 and it has a real nice lens. I have been thinking about breaking it out but I keep putting it off. I have had a lot of formalized photography training over the years, 90 % of it forgotten. When I first started, having to photograph a scene was the only thing I got nervous about. If I fcucked that up you could easily lose a case. This was long before digital. The one thing I do pay attention to is lighting and allowing for reasonable perspective. Getting a good spontaneous shot when travelling or a cool situation presents itself, awesome. I don't go out looking, but sometimes there are those moments that are worthy.1 point

I bet it only took a minute to whip out your wide angle lens for her. 😉1 point

I understand your concern, but I was never questioned by the DL centre about the lack of visa, where I was staying etc., they were just concerned with whether I had a residence certificate and other appropriate documentation. All other documentation was in order and I was directed to just do my tests and watch the obligatory video. I was never worried about the DL office as, for me, as long as I had the residence certificate, I knew I wouldn't have issues later during my appointment. Now this was Pranburi near Hua Hin (for Prachuap Khiri Khan) and I was renewing. It had even been suggested that if I did get the DL renewal, it might only be for 2 years extension. Amazingly, they gave me 5 years from my next birthday, so still 5 years validity from this coming July.1 point

This scam has been doing the rounds in the UK for quite some time now. We have a scam thread somewhere here which I believe it has been highlighted before.1 point

Problem with living alone, as many know, is lots of food comes in packs for couples or families..... so the brioche rolls I bought came in a 4 pack, and as two were consumed yesterday, there were two more sitting staring at me. Yes, I could have thrown them in the freezer, but that is already full of other goodies... The fridge had some mince, onions, Tommy k and cheese in.... so....1 point

Well I appear to be quite late to the game here. My first three shots were Pfizer. The 4th was Moderna. I did have a more serious reaction to the Moderna shot. In bed for two days, headaches, increased arm soreness compared to the earlier Pfizer shots, and most troubling -> chest pains. I think the Moderna reaction may have well been a long term good thing in that it increased my overall coverage. It has been two years since my last shot. I would like to get a 5th, but there do not seem to be any current booster shots available here in Thailand. I am making a trip to the US in September and will likely have my 5th one done there. I will probably go with Moderna again. I guess I enjoy being a lab rat. 😉1 point

There are negative scanners, but for just a few negatives, that is too costly (unless you can borrow/rent one). I think I would frame them, project them on something flat and white (and large enough) and make a photo of that. Most image software can handle negatives. My personal favourite is IrfanView, which is free.1 point

Going to cancel my appointment tomorrow. Fact is I don’t have the right visa as per the requirements stated. Even if I managed to get the paperwork from immigration, I could still get knocked back at the licensing place. So given the time (and expense) and general fuckaboutary it’s going to take - I am not going to bother.1 point

So sorry to hear that mate. Best wishes and Get Well Soon!! Because you are still a young working chap I'd have gone for the plastic jacket AND crutches... The last thing you want is for it to interfere with your working life back home! On the bright side when you fly back you'll be able to sit in the "special chairs" in the Departure Lounge and be boarded first ..... Although there'll be some little monster running around and kick your foot !!1 point

I usually don't care for subtitles, but for Shogun it works as it adds to the immersion into Japanese culture the series is trying to achieve.1 point
-
Watched the last Ep of Shogun last night. No spoilers but I was left feeling a little 'up in the air' As someone said, it ends where the book does. A great series, well acted, a lot of sub-titles but seems to be very authentic culturally. Hoping for more in the future1 point
