Some good news for those that like to party all night. Note the caveats in the news report.

Thai Cabinet Approves 24/7 Operation of Entertainment Venues in EEC Areas Including Pattaya

The Thai Cabinet has approved a proposal to allow nightlife venues in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) area to operate 24 hours a day to meet the growing needs of tourists.
This includes the popular tourist city of Pattaya with thousands of entertainment venues.

However, before you get too excited, the regulation is not yet official and needs approval from regional and local leaders along with guidelines and regulations for the change. No timeline for this has been set.
...

As for Pattaya, local officials will need to discuss the legislation first before making a decision in terms of which areas it will apply to and what rules and regulations will apply. No set date for when this is expected to happen has been given so excited bar owners are being told to wait for more information and city communication for now and to adhere to current legal closing times in the interim. Some early proposals suggest the change may only be to certain zones, such as Walking Street, and not the whole city, but this remains to be seen.

TPN media notes the Thai government is also in a period of flux and this decision was made by the caretaker cabinet and Tourism Authority of Thailand in conjunction with EEC officials. Depending on who ends up becoming the Thai Prime Minister this situation could change.

I don't know if you guys have noticed but 2nd road between Pattaya Klang and Central Mall beach side is almost a solid row of Indian restaurants now....With a few weed shops and a few massage shops.....

I walked past there twice tonight...I am like when the heck did all these Indian restaurants open? And as usual, all of them had no customers, with lots of Indians hanging around in the area.....( Nope I did not see a single customer in any of them at 7PM or 8PM)....

This area use to be a mostly farang area....But I guess it's an Indian area now....

If Thailand does legalize gambling, it sure would be handy to have a 24/7 entertainment zone. Just saying.

Thai Officials Clarify Approval of 24/7 Entertainment Venues in the Pattaya Area: U-Tapao Airport Area Only

The Thai Cabinet has approved a proposal to allow entertainment venues to operate 24-hours a day only in the U-Tapao International Airport area to boost tourism. Thai officials and entertainment association representatives have since clarified after the original proposal appeared to cover Pattaya as well that this is not, for now, the case.

Mr. Damrongkiet Pinitkarn, a secretary of the Pattaya Entertainment Association, told the Pattaya News that the Thai cabinet HAS approved to allow 24-hour operation of entertainment venues but only in the U-Tapao International Airport area and planned to be developed airport city. This allowance is primarily to service passengers who are waiting for their flights so they can order alcohol to drink and not for all night and day beach and nightclubs. This proposal for 24-hour operations does not currently affect entertainment venues in Pattaya, Damrongkiet clarified.

Damrongkiet did add that entertainment venue owners in Pattaya were still pursuing a legal 4:00 A.M. closing hours extension and zoning extensions in Pattaya which have already been formally requested to the appropriate agencies. However, business owners and tourists will have to wait for a final decision when the country has a new government and Prime Minister.

Could you elaborate, please:

- in what way does it have potential?

- why aren't they doing whatever they need to do now?

I arrived there at 23.55 hrs, but you go inside and half the building for pool and tv

and then through another door to the other side of the building a very cosy air con room

with nice seating, get my drift m8, possibilities are endless.....lol.....I've been passed it about 6 times at

about 00.15 recently and it has been closed......I hadn't see any signs about opening hrs.....

There must have been at least 10 very nice looking chassis floating about......

Who remembers the various bars on the Darkside that had swimming pools?

I used to go to a couple from time to time which were really "dirty". Well the girls were not the pools!  🤣

I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the bars. I make new friends every day as well.

One was near where I used to go fishing but the main one I am thinking of was way out but very popular. Had a fair sized  indoor pool the girls used to romp around sans kit if bought a drink. I remember sharing a wee plunge pool wondering if I would survive. 😄

The one farthest out was the White Oyster, which became Black Pearl in 2017, then closed for good in 2019. There was also La Guinguette Club that also close in 2017.

Still going are Aqua-Deymie and Azure@Fabrice.

It's been over a year, so will have to check out the darkside bar scene one of these day and update the map.

i believe it was the Black Pearl first mate, run by a German chap and his Thai wife. She died and the chap sold it soon after, the new owner renamed it the White Oyster, but it was never as good as when the Kraut had it.

Had many a great afternoon in there back in the day......

Black Pearl 2, on Soi Siam Country Club  never really took off and did not last long, it was a pale relation to the original.

Double checked with Google Street View. White Oyster first until 2017.

Good fun at the bar under both names and owners, although at the end the service had noticeably declined.

Dunno how far Google history goes back Mr. Force, but it was the Black Pearl around the 2011 / 2012 period mate.

My mates and i had a few memorable Birthday parties there, as you rightly state, there was good ( bloody great in fact ) fun to be had there....
