Water looks dark. Got to be some mud packers lurking around down there.

:default_fishing:

It's had a huge algae bloom, which has turned the water pea soup. Unfortunately that means the fish are not feeding.

Fantastic morning!

I was up at sparrow's fart to cut down some of the branches on my tree that had reached the power lines during my trip to Blighty.. Too bloody hot to do it during the day and I wanted to do it ASAP before any storms kicked in.

Later in the morning I got a knock at the door from my friend next door to say the binmen had arrived, but when she saw me half naked she volunteered to take my bins out for me. She asked what I was doing and I said that I was off to Big C to buy Mont Clair.. Long story short, she drove me around to do a few jobs..

- Near Tukom  to pay two months rent that was due because I went on holiday. (4,500 baht)

- Spun round to Soi Buakhao to buy 2 boxes of Sato plus a large bottle of Sangsom and some Singha for her and her girlfriend. (1,100 baht)

- Pattaya Tai to buy 2 boxes of Mont Clair. (1,840 Baht)

Perhaps you think I lead a boring life but by f**k I love where I live.

I got up unusually early to go in for an eye exam. Threw me off big time, shittiest day I can recall.

Yep. That is what I suspected. Low oxygen levels. Those bastards will be barely moving. But at least the chow you are enjoying is world class !

The huge fish I chase are very hard to catch at the best of times, so it is important to enjoy yourself on the bank otherwise.

Living out with nature is one of life's pleasures for me!

Happy that the weather forecast for rain didn't materialise and I was able to take my walk up the ridge, got the exercise I needed. Tomorrow, I will be adding bleach to water and cleaning the paving stones on my patio, that will be all the exercise I need tomorrow.

My loss of weight is certainly going in the right direction, amazing how losing some weight can create not only a visible change but also adds to a more positive mental state.

I can tell I have lost weight as I have moved up two notches on my trouser belt, started at notch 2 and now on notch 4.

Yes, she received it 6 days after her appointment. Off in 18 days.

Brilliant, quick!

I could've got an appointment every day this month, seems it might just have been the rush for the summer before.

Anyways, we're back from Thailand on Wed 9th, gonna book for Friday 11th, give us a day just incase anything last minute crops up, i can sort it before our appointment on the Friday.

About to go to sleep, have a very early appointment Thursday to finally get my license back….Long story but Montreal has a huge backlog for actual human contact at the offices, after a failed attempt to put move many services to online. Applied May 11 just before my birthday and Alberta license expiry, and finally got an answer last week….bloody joke. Oh well, in April I thought I’d never drive again so it’s wasn’t too important

But I’m thinking to call the cops….we live in a very family oriented suburb. Couple of speeding drivers, but very quiet. Just heard a single bang, and don’t think it was wasn’t fireworks……Didn’t hear sirens so I assume all is OK. You never know though…..

Just realized they included a license for a bike up to 400cc at no extra charge. Sure beats getting certified and all that testing

@galenkia What should I get, Ninja or CBR?

Or just stick with bus tickets?

Wait for the new ZX-4R to be launched later in the year. 80hp so nearly twice the power of the current 400’s. I have my sights set on one.

Ah yes, modern red tape - here's a tale of woe concerning that.

My friend's wife decided she wanted to buy a scooter to commute to and from work; she shopped at the local Honda dealer and they sold her on a model that they ensured her she would not need a license for as it is under 49cc. She orders the bike and waits three months for it. Finally it arrives and she goes to Motor Vehicles to get a plate as it still needs registration; they tell her that she cannot get a plate without insurance. Okay, she goes to her insurance agent and guess what? She is told that she cannot get insurance without a motorcycle license!! Of course the dealer plays dumb with all of this.

So to get a motorcycle license, which in this jurisdiction is good for life - I got mine easily in 1972 at 16 and have had it ever since - you now need to take a motorcycle safety course -  two days at @$650 CDN! And to add insult to injury, you have to take a written test first, and then book the road test - and they are so far behind with these that she now has to wait until late August to take her road test, by which time summer in these climes will be 3/4 finished. Hubby decided he'd take the course with her - by his own admission he hasn't been on a motorcycle for over 40 years - and he has already been to Motor Vehicles twice to take his written test only to be told that the computers are down that day and he'll have to come back later. Frankly I don't think he'll ever put his license to use even if he does get it - he talks big but is one of the most uncoordinated people I've ever met and I think he'd probably have enough trouble riding a bicycle - but we'll see what happens. Oh for the good old days...

Smashing weather here the last couple of days - Environment Canada actually has a heat wave warning on their website. It's presently 29C officially, taken at our airport, which means it's most likely 32-33C where I live; also cheap draft beer day in my two locals but I decided to forego that today for a change and get my project vehicle back  together - a '96 Ford Explorer that someone had driven into the ground a couple of years ago. I picked it up early last winter dirt cheap as it wouldn't run - thankfully it was a cheap fix motor wise but digging into it I found a rear brake that had seized yet they just kept driving it until the disc disintegrated and brake fluid (and I suspect rear diff fluid as well from a leaking axle seal) went all over the place. I've had to replace both rotors and callipers at the back, as well as the enclosed parking brake shoes and did the axle bearings and seals too while I was at it so the price has gone up somewhat but it does run well now so hopefully I can get it drivable after changing the front pads and rotors as well and bleeding all of the brakes. I worked out there in the heat for about six hours today and it was a little tiring towards the end but I've been putting off the job for weeks and got tired of looking at it:

rsz_1brake_rotors.jpg

Yes, that right hand item was once a complete rotor like the left hand one - no wonder so many jurisdictions have mandatory annual inspections with drivers like this around. rsz_img_1985.jpg

The new parts in place - tomorrow I'll fill up the rear diff oil and putter a little and then go and drink beer with the boys and enjoy this wonderful weather while it lasts.

I'm in town .... with mixed results..

- Arrived early but the room was available so no fannying about.

- Went straight to Honey Corner for a "pint" of Thatchers 150 Baht.. Bootiful....but it didn't look like the pints I was getting in England.

- Went to TOPS and was underwhelmed with the choice of wine but bought an Eaglehawk red and a 19 Crimes.

- Went to Seaside for some chips and other stuff. Got to my room and it was about a third of the amount of chips I am used to getting. Still nice but not enough. I hereby retract my recommendation for the place. If I were here longer I'd order the roast dinners to see if their roasters had been reduced in quantity...

- Went to the Irish pub for a Guinness, 220 Baht a draught can. I wanted it so paid the price. Anybody know anywhere cheaper??

Gonna have a quick gonk and will be out later ..

Had a great day of exercise. Up the ridge, it was beautiful up there today. Got back and decided to mow the lawn, I then walked to pick up my daughter from school and not long ago, I finished bleaching 70 paving stones that make up my patio on my upper terraced garden.

Noticed my blood pressure and heartbeat a tad higher than normal but probably taken as I just finished doing the paving stones. My Fitbit watch is now on charge.

Really happy with my steps today.
