Popular Post Horizondave
Waiting for the Royal Mail to deliver my new T Shirt from Amazon. It is a 'I was there' T-shirt and just over 50 years since the concert at Hammersmith Odeon where David Bowie announced he would never do a Ziggy concert again. Of course we all thought he meant he was never singing again but of course he just reinvented himself. Went to the last 2 concerts, the final one being with a Jeff Beck guest appearance. They have released the film of the concert (again), I will be looking for myself in the 8th row as I was standing on the arms of the seat, hadn't even smoked anything lol 8

The thing I found over the years when talking to people about this show, when they ask you "What was so great about Bowie?" It is kind of hard to explain, with him, it just wasn't the music, it was his presence, his style and way he delivered it with all his facial expressions, hand gestures, costume changes and this may sound silly, but the way he handled the microphone too. I think too having a very comfortable seat in the 3rd row, no one stood all night in front of us, and he was just mesmerizing. What a performer....top 5 concerts of all time for me. God, I miss the 70's, you know? 3

My two favorites... 2
forcebwithu
A month ago a neighbor replaced their water tank and asked if we wanted the old one for free to expand the capacity of the rainwater collection system I have. Sight unseen I said sure and a few days later it arrived in my driveway. At the time I thought that's bigger than what I have now, but I can make it work with some tank shuffling of the existing tank in the back corner of the property. Well after sitting for a couple of weeks I thought today I would get around to the chore of moving it to the back corner. That's when I did a major There is no way I'm going to squeeze that tank through the pinch points leading to the back corner. Instead the only option if it's going to get used is along the side of the front of the property. Not really thrilled about having an ugly blue tank in the front, but I might be able to make it work by painting it a bland, neutral color and then position racks of plants around it. 2
forcebwithu
Just finished cleaning up the mess I made of my new 70L dry cabinet. Thought it would be easier to remove the shipping tape that was holding the shelves in place by turning it on its side. Unfortunately the door isn't designed to support its own weight when opened on its side. The result was the frame flexed enough to shatter the safety glass. Now have a message to the seller to see if I can by a replacement door. Worst case scenario is I find a glass specialist in Pattaya that can replace the glass for me. Wondering now if it's too early for a beer. 2

Good one. 40 minutes ago, Stillearly said: Probably a daft question, but what do you use a dry cabinet for ? Camera equipment and other electronic gear. In this heat and humidity plastics and rubber compounds break down quickly. A dry cabinet is relatively cheap insurance to store and protect the equipment. Of course, it works better with an intact glass door. 2 1

I have been on a broadband only (home) package at £26 for the last 18 months with the package due to go up to £51 in August. I was told a while back to call today, which is 30 days before the end of the present contract to cancel or negotiate. I said that I didn't want to pay £51 and could they offer a better deal as I have been quoted £20 by BT (although for a lessor speed). I don't have a TV package, just broadband, although the present package included a landline number I have never used (no phone). I was first talking to an Indian girl who quoted £43 and I said, no thank you. I told her about the BT offer and after putting me on hold, she passed me through to another department where, thankfully, I was talking to a guy talking perfect English that I could understand. More or less straightaway, the guy told me I was a good customer, he checked a few details about what devices I had using the broadband, he then offered me a new 18 month package at £25 a month. The present package was M100 Fiber and now I will be on M125 Fiber. Happy to stay with Virgin who have been 99% reliable for the last 4 years so result for me. Small saving but good deal. I changed my Broadband to TalkTalk to Fast Fibre, from TalkTalk fibre 65, because BThad put the system in our area a few weeks ago. 150mbps at £24 month, with first 3 months free. Open Reach fitted the system into the house and It comes with the new eero system and on checking the speed, I’m getting dead on 150mbps and it never seems to go below that number. I’ve got 3 big smart TV’s on it, as well as PC, laptop, Xbox, EV charger, 3i iPhones and Oculus systems all WiFi attached to it and I’m really happy with the signal, my kid can even use WiFi in the garden room where he’s got his big OLED TV and another Xbox, so he and his mates can chill out and not annoy me and his mum. 😡 1

Nice looking fish and chips. Is it cod, haddock or the non-traditional "rock salmon". I've been to Whitby a few times, but more interestingly this was where Dracula came ashore and also spent much of his time terrorising the local virgins.

I built a false back in a kitchen cupboard and behind it bolted a safe down to the concrete floor. Used it for all my documents and some gold. Unfortunately the nearby stormwater drain got blocked and the house was flooded while i was out country. I believe fireproof would also have watertight qualities, I will buy when i've collected some new important documents.

Unfortunately where I live Virgin is the only Fibre optic offer. BT could offer me a better price but their guarantee was only above 35 mbps and no more than 51 mbps. In talking with Virgin, I just highlighted I could get a better deal and luckily Virgin didn't tell me how superior their deal (speed) was to BT etc., and they seemed happy to keep my business. I am happy to pay the £25 and get my package as, we here in the valleys in Wales, don't have many options. 2
