  1. Well no food thread is right without a post showing Beefeater. I still think it's best in town as always spot on and no variance in quality ( a rare thing in Pattaya ). Everything cooked to perfection and how we ordered. I will let pictures do the talking.

  4. In Bangkok for a couple of days and I always get to this place to eat the food is excellent it's very cheap and it's always full of Thai people which tells you something. It is located on Sukhumvit near Soi 1. In what looks to be a couple of old garages.

  7. Back in 2000 I was working at the BAe plant at Woodford & I would go into Holmes Chapel from my digs in the evening for a feed & some ale. Always got the same cab back to my digs,an old Merc limo driven by a really nice old guy. One night he's going really slowly & I quickly realised it was because he wanted to tell me a story. He'd picked up a fare in Stoke for a return trip to Wembley & it turned out to be Gordon Banks, going down to Wembley for the closure of the old stadium. He said GB sat in the front & they chatted all the way down & when they got there he invited him to have lunch with him in the stadium. It was when they were selling off all the memorabilia & the old cab driver ate lunch sat between GB & Pele with all the other surviving legends also there. I thought it was a really nice story & showed Gordon Banks to be a really nice bloke. & a truly great goalkeeper!

We go back to the 70's , Navy at same time, left together, joined the same course at mechanical school, joined the same company, stayed with them for over 30y, travelled the world, has been posted around 20y in Asia also. Married with a Korean woman. He just retired a few months ago . First meetup as official pensioners, Peninsula beach bar, plenty Bintang.. Having a beer right now as coffee wont do it ! And I think I'll skip the swimming as well ....

  17. Retox Game On do a very good Sunday lunch. I went for the beef which was a good medium cooked. The stars for me though are the yorkshire pudding, mashed potato and cauliflower cheese- combined with gravy to die for. Fish and chips spot on and very big portion. It's a lot of food and that's standard size, they do a larger size for another 100 baht.

  18. A very simple but tasty brunch. Creamy garlic pepper mushrooms on toast. Fairly heavily seasoned because I only had the crappy thai bread which tends to be a little sweet.

  20. Sadly another one that closed around March 2017. Other than resorts, the only bars that I'm aware of that are still in business and have pools are Azure (previously Fabrice) and Aqua-Deymie. I visited Aqua-Deymie last December and the pool had a layer of scum floating on top. Probably need a truck load of coins to get anyone to dive into that pool. Coincidently I'll be joining a group of friends for a DS crawl this afternoon. I'll report back later on the current condition of pools and the state of entertainment available in the bars we visit.

  23. Firstly am aware that at the moment am a random stranger but am a futures trader of 34 years (not a make believe youtube one like our Soi 6 friend ) and in addition hold decent portfolio of stocks mainly British Oilers and Energy stocks. I'm quite successful. If guys are interested am happy to put up the occasional share tip. They will be few and far between though. Any stock I suggest I will already be invested or about to. I absolutely wont ramp a stock on a pump and dump basis I make that clear. If theres positive feedback to OP I will pop up 1 or 2 but only if there is interest obviously

  25. My car in the UK is an MB E500 Sport,5461cc of pure joy.I turned 65 last year & said that when I retired I'd sell it as it's expensive to tax(£540pa currently) but I'm still working occasionally & I love the car.It was a year old when I bought it & I've had it for 7 years now, longer than I've owned any car. It's quite a rarity as well. The bike is an FXDX I've had since new in 2003.I've done lots of work(& spent a small fortue)to it,including stage 2 bore out to 1550cc & getting the heads gas flowed.Considerably faster than when new & it handles better than most Harleys. For the first few years the missus would refer to it as "your # 1 wife". The pick up is what we drive in Thailand, handles like a barge but I like the feeling of plenty of metal around me on Thai roads.

  26. As reaction to the rat stories. They cost 200 Bath a kilo here in Isaan, and they are big. For my wife I put them in the Air fryer for 20 minutes, and she loves them. Sorry no photo's. I will do next time

  28. World Cup-winning goalkeeper Gordon Banks has died at the age of 81. The former Stoke and Leicester City goalkeeper was part of the famous England side who lifted the World Cup in 1966. Banks passed away with family at his side after his health deteriorated significantly in recent weeks and he leaves behind wife Ursula and their three children Julia, Robert and Wendy. He endured battles with cancer for many years and in recent months had been undergoing gruelling spells of chemotherapy.

  33. I was a blast there, but ar out of the way and you had to plan to get transportation back, but that is one of the things that made it great! No BIB, almost no coconut telegraph, and not shy employees. I never got or saw any BJ given as it was not a soi 6 sort of place, but nice hands on service.

  36. Couldn't agree more....., other than the fact that they are obviously military personnel just in civvies I have always found them to be very friendly when out and about. They are much lower profile than my memories of their visits in the late 80's and early 90's here and when I was living in the P.I.

  43. Few people have shown slight interest so try this one UK Oil & Gas Investments (ukog) Ukog are the company who own a large stake in the "Gatwick Gusher" oil find near Londons 2nd airport. The SP has had a turbulent time the last couple years with both good and disappointing news hitting the company but the signs are that they are on the cusp of something big with the already signalled "commercial" status of the well at Horse Hill Currently undergoing an extended well test and sending daily around 3 tankers of crude to the refinary in Fawley. Approval has been already granted for drilling a 4 well octopus pad at Horse Hill (likely in April) in addition to the existing well with a full production licence having been applied for and expected granted in 2019. Because approval has now been given for the extension of the existing well test its anticipated that oil revenues will continue daily until full production licence is granted. There are other areas for which ukog hold licences currently which if successful will make ukog the biggest onshore oil producer after Wytch farm oil field in the uk This is not a share for widows and orphans. In my opinion there is very little downside from the current share price of 1.68p (thats pennies) because of the commercial status already assigned but as with all AIM stocks it carries risks obviously I currently own 596,000 shares with an average price of 1.54p for clarity This is a 12 months minimum hold. Plenty more info if you google the company and read up on the RNS reports
