So, here’s the situation. I will not make any apologies for my own personal views or my language during the running of this thread. I have some very strong opinions about this invasion! I am in Kyiv right now. Locked down tight in my hotel. Not allowed in the streets at all. Russian soldiers are in the north of the city in the Obolon district, which is around 4 miles away from me. We had 4 evacuations into the bomb shelter last night. You can’t see or hear the cruise missiles, but I could certainly hear the AA firing and hear the sound of explosions from the cruise missiles hitting their targets! it’s a shit show of the highest standard! There isn’t a chance that Ukrainian armed forces can hold out against the Russian aggression, but we hope and pray they do! Putin Huylo!!! Glory to Ukraine, Glory to the Heroes!

Started work on the garden shade canopy. Today ran 2mm stainless steel support wires from the house to the fence. Tomorrow I'll run 1mm wire stringers and lay 50% UV mesh netting over the wires. Should allow enough sunlight through so the plants can grow while reducing temps under the canopy.

I actually think what Chris has done is very noble when he explains why he is there as I was also wondering why he traveled. I would probably would have done the same, it was a calculated but noble reason for visiting. Hopefully now he can find a way out as Poland is allowing everybody in (visa or no visa) but moving out of Kyiv now looks difficult. I wish you all the best Chris, stay safe if bunkering down.

I can confirm the same. When I started going to Thailand in 2008, I posted lots on Secrets and so did he. On my 2nd trip, was walking around 2nd & Klang, recognized him from the board, and just said “hey you’re Gabor, right” ? We ended up grabbing some food in the basement of whatever supermarket was close, Tops I think. Just had a great long chat and learned a few things from him as I was a newbie, and never saw him again. The thing he really cleared up was his reputation for being cheap & squeezing gogo girls for 1K LT….in reality he meant that was for ST, some just ended up being happy to stay all night without asking for more. I knew he could stir shite on the board, but never read his really offensive posts, maybe I was busier those weeks or admin deleted . Heard he attacked my buddy Lars in a very personal fashion, that’s too bad. It’s sad when these forums get to that point, pissed up or not, there’s no excuse to go overboard like that

My buddy Jim and I met GGL one time, did a go go crawl with him and dinner one evening. He was straightforward with his "philosophies" and beliefs about life in Pattaya. He was cool with us for sure..no problems, he knew alot of people in the go go's. He introduced me to this gal at "Beach Club" The rest is history. She was a good evening.

How come you didn't get out earlier,as they were building up troops for some time before moving in?. And countries were telling their citizens to leave. Not having a dig mate, just wondering how come you are still there. Be safe.👍

Everybody that I know that was killed in conflict dropped their guard. You have to continually think "Am I in the safest part of the room, shelter, underground car park?" Stand by the support pillars not in the open. Block windows using the night curtains, a mattress and anything heavy that you can move. Sleep under the bed, under a table, under the dressing table. @Krapow would have been taught all this even at infants school (my sons were too!) Barring a missile with a direct hit, your main concern should be flying or falling debris - especially glass. I won't say more but just repeat .. Good luck and stay safe.

Oh come on, you guys are much too kind. Like everyone else, always had fun in Thailand. Finding the "wife for the night" was always a crap shoot. Just try your best, throw some "Calif charm" at them and see what happens. But...some of these darlings always tried to take advantage of me...like this one. If the ticket is a through ticket then the delivering airline should be responsible for extra charges at the connecting point including offering accommodation if a through connection now includes a night stop due change of timings/dates etc. Of course that is what a decent airline should do and they should see their responsibility when you call them: I would probably not accept the schedule change until you know what the deal is.

I'm trapped in the U.S. due to Covid, so I can't offer dining experiences more recent than two years ago, but I can help out by posting menus and info on specials from restaurants' Facebook pages and Web sites. I would advise everyone to check the restaurants' social media sites to be sure the information below is still accurate. Things change fast in these strange times! I'll start with the LK Metro area. The Rockhouse has a new menu. Whenever I ate there, the food was good and value for money. I never had a bad meal at Kilkenny. I found the Sunday lamb roast and the weekly porkchop special very tasty and excellent value for money. Kilkenny was one of my "go-to" restaurants while living in Pattaya. I'm posting a list of their most recent specials. As I recall, it's the same daily special(s) every week, but check Kilkenny's Facebook page to be sure.

Never had a problem with Gabor and have met him a couple of times. First bumped into him in Walking Street as we both were about to enter an establishment. Had a good chat and a couple of drinks and then we went our separate ways. Ran into him about 6 months later and he stopped to say hi..had some small chit chat ...same again twice more. In my dealings with him he was always civil and would gladly have a drink with him if we ever bumped into each other in the future. He also put his food reviews on Secrets which were well received. His reviews and Evils were a different style and both Evil's and his were well received. Gabor was testy at times.... but it was not all a one way street with him...he copped some crap aimed at him....when he retorted ..... he was piled upon by some and made out to be the one always in the wrong when it was not the case at all. He also had some good info about the scene in Patts...pity a few always played the poster when he posted up...not his post content. Hope he is going well. cheers

Very sad indeed, brought back memories of that great song. My next door neighbour Bill Eyden played the drums on the recording of Whiter Shade Of Pale, got 15 guineas for the session but no royalties.
