This is a recreation of a dish my mom made when I was a kid, Green Eggs & Ham ... named after the iconic Dr. Seuss book. It's actually a baked frittata, consisting of eggs, a lot green vegetables, cheese, mushrooms, onions, diced smoked ham and bacon. I used baby spinach, beet tops, celery, havarti cheese and basil in my version. My younger sister was an exceptionally picky eater and Greens Eggs & Ham was one of the few dishes she'd eat without a struggle. The name and connection to the Dr. Seuss book had a lot to do with it. If my mom had called it an omelet, I doubt my sister would have eaten it. I'd like to think my mom can up with the recipe, but I'm sure she got it from a women's magazine. Each portion packs a lot of nutrition that's especially good for picky eaters. Endless variations are possible. I like mine topped with shaved aged Parmesan, the real deal, from a block of imported Parmesan, not the shaker crap which doesn't deserve to be called Parmesan.8 points

I first met BJ about 24-25 years ago on maybe my 2nd or 3rd trip to Pattaya when he had his bar on WS, on the corner where Soi BJ was named for him. Great guy, very low key personality. I spoke to him after he gave up the WS bar and when I was staying at his guest house up on Beach Road and Soi 1 or 2, and he said after 25 years, he had enough and was glad to be out of there. When his current hotel, the BJ Holiday Lodge was built, he had sea view rooms on the upper floors until the lot next door was bought and a new hotel was built, thereby blocking the view BJ's guest had. What a great guy, and still with his ever present towel draped over his shoulder. A true Pattaya legend and institution who remains a living link to Pattaya's long gone past.8 points

Thanks...just happy to share with the other guys on here. For birds...I'm very fortunate there's many parks and green spaces where I live, and I'm right next to the Pacific Ocean and a very large bay. It's all conducive to a healthy year round and migratory bird population. When my daughter was younger I took her to the local playground and brought my camera along just in case a hawk flew by. Now I coach her soccer football team and just watch them fly over the field. Previously my photography focus was two-legged birds (started in Bangkok back in '09), but the pandemic shutdown and overzealous censoring of my websites (nanny prudes flagging my shots) lead me to a mid-flight change so I took up chasing the feathered variety. Along the way I've developed a keen interest in birds; it's enjoyable pastime to learn more and search for new species. It's all about keeping my photography skills sharp -- much like shooting basketballs -- because every so often the opportunity for a great shot occurs and if I'm not ready I might miss...whatever happens to fly by. . . .5 points

Being near quality health care providers (well trained physicians, hospitals, recovery and long term care providers) is something often overlooked by retirees who are looking to relocate. Back in the late 70's when my father had retired my parents were looking at a wonderful place in the Smokies (Western North Carolina). Very beautiful, yet very rural. They eventually ended up in a very nice area near Chapel Hill (UNC and many other well known medical facilities and providers). They made a very good decision in factoring this in, as it probably added years to what turned out to be a very happy and comfortable retirement. I certainly made note of this (along with many other wise decisions they made throughout the years).4 points

Also part of the reason we built our house in Manila where we did, close enough to get to a Hospital in case of an emergency. Wife being so long in the medical field helps somewhat as well, at least from the whole "Do the CPR thing" properly. Might also be a case of trying to stay reasonably healthy as the years roll on as well.4 points

Even with an umbrella for shade, that has to be extremely stressful for the cats to be kept in what is basically a hot house. Those small air holes are not enough to provide any kind of cooling ventilation. I hope the pet owners had the decency and enough intelligence to open the backpack carriers why watching the game.4 points

You can even see the near reverence that Buzzin had for BJ, almost like a kid getting to meet his childhood sports hero. Unlike so many other interviews on his channel with other bar owners and the like, he allowed BJ to reply to his questions uninterrupted and just soak up his anecdotes and history as he told of the Pattaya he knew from a half century ago. I sincerely hope that Buzzin revisits BJ in the future, maybe in 6 months or so, and let him share more great stories and observations. To me, in the time I've been aware of his YT channel, this 2 part BJ interview was his finest hour. And from the number of views and replies it has generated in such a short time, it definitely hit a bulls eye with his viewers. I have an old pic taken of BJ and myself from his Soi BJ days, probably from around 1997. If I can find it among all my Kodak photo envelopes filled with Pattaya memories from the 90's, I'll see about posting it here.3 points

Hello, all. I was Captain Morgan previously on the Secrets Forum and I only just discovered this one, so I'd like to get set up for access. I have been to Patts a handful of times over the past decade and I've enjoyed other such travel for the past 2 decades. I've been anxiously waiting for the LOS to return to any semblance of its former glory for travelers. I'm looking for current info on the real scene from folks in the know, so I can be ready to return as soon as the candy store is properly open for business. I recognize a few names that I see on this Forum from the old days, so I'm hoping that I've found the right place to be.3 points

I would be too worried about ending up like Mason Verger (Hannibal) after a face peel. Not a good idea either, if you suffer from Leprosy 😂😂😂3 points

Hamstead Heath public toilets is an unusual venue to get a haircut I'd have thought. I've had a haircut in Thailand, they tend to go a bit OTT with the clippers and I ended up looking like Mr spock on a bad hair day.3 points

Oh if only you were stood in front of me and I had a toffee hammer. Although I doubt I’d do any damage if I knocked in a few of those nails on the top of your head. Still, it’d pass an hour or so. 🤔3 points

There used to be was a massage shop on Soi 15 in Bangkok where you could get a full commando shave by a busty milf with a straight razor... Not for the meek.3 points

Of course the holocaust deniers would question the numbers, they wouldn’t be faithful deniers if they didn’t. Unfortunally for them, the Germans during WW2 were meticulous record keepers and the records for the numbers of people killed in the camps and other systems have come to light over the years. I wouldn’t bother delving into the subject ff, there’s nothing there for you, and you already have enough to keep you busy with all those “fake” climate change and “fake” moon landing sites, not to mention all the time you have to spend on Covid vaccine’s. 🤣3 points

@lazarus these pictures are a real pleasure to see and I wish I had a fraction of the skills you have for photography. I really think your photo's warrant their own topic in itself. Yet again, absolutely stunning and thanks for the upload.3 points

Unfortunately, being extremely talented in the 'entertainment industry', often means mentally flawed and susceptible to the attractions of drugs. Common story that goes back a long long time. People like Dave Grohl who seems very capable of keeping things together, are the exception not the rule with those people. It also seems to me that someone who does 'indulge' in such activities, should never spend too much time in 3rd world countries once they pass 50. There have been many examples of Aussies who have had heart attacks and other medical problems in Australia, where they were resuscitated and taken to the Hospital alive and either survived (Kerri Packer) or died a long time later (Marshy). Whereas, many like Warney and now Taylor never seem to get out of the room alive. Makes sense to go back home when you start to have serious medical issues - lets face it - Somchai and Pornalong dont get the training or have the equipment of real Paramedics.2 points

At the moment I'm wondering why Gareth Southgate is unsure what a boycott of the Qatar WC because of Human Rights abuses will achieve... And yet he is absolutely convinced that the World will change their habits by players kneeling down, clapping, wearing special armbands/wristbands/shirt motifs and colourful laces...2 points
