  3. Totally unacceptable. They ordered expensive items and paying the bill was not something that they merely forgot about. Scum.of the earth and certainly not representatives of the average tourist. They have probably gotten away with it too. How do these kind of people sleep at night.

  4. All great answers and experiences, but as usual, I have to ruin the party I guess. Back in the day, I just got that buzz out of visiting various go go's, especially the one's in Bangkok. I just DID NOT mind paying a bar fine at all. I looked at it like pretty much Thailand was my choice of destination for the last 10 years of my being a single guy. I knew the party could not last for ever, so I was NOT going to let anyone ruin it for me you know? I rarely took any gals ST, it was LT or I just did not take them. I do remember too that as a general rule, the bar fines were very reasonable back in the day. I was the classic 2 week Millionaire...loved every minute of it. No regrets for sure. Spent some " dosh" foolishly, but who cares? In today's world like Horizondave, I am happy to entertain friends who come here, have several coming back in June, buying LD's for a few gals and chatting it up with them...perhaps a few Thermae gals to take for a few hours for the evening for drinks and music might be on tap this summer...we'll see.

  5. I very rarely paid a barfine. Think it was a combination of i just to love just walking about Pattaya, watching the circus around me. Met loads of girls just through a smile or whatever, and with me not drinking i wasn't reallly in bars anyway. Never found it an issue, even when they worked in gogo bars in the evening etc. They didn't seem to charge more than the usual freelancers. I can remember posting similar in a different forum, and a few maniacs chastising me, saying i still owed the gogo or whatever a barfine, even if i met the girl walking on 2nd road in the afternoon. I said aye, i'll be in that big long queue every morning at the gogos full of people waiting to pay the barfine for a girl they met in Central and took them for an hour or so in the afternoon. Fucking nutters, though some just liked to argue and come across like they knew how things worked in Pattaya more than anyone else.

  6. Back when I lived in Bangkok, I had what then blogger 'Wolfman' termed, "the rotation," i.e., five or so women who were on my current 'dance card.' That worked out well for awhile as you could always change the 'line up' when the need arises. They weren't necessarily P4P (for me), and sometimes I'd get a late night "bootie call" as I was good company (and had a comfortable condo). 😉 On trips since I ended my BKK residency I've mainly found fun with massage ladies. If they seemed pleasant at the shop, I'd maybe pay (the shop) so they could leave early for a night out for a meal, etc. Generally, I prefer to sleep alone as I get up early and head out for a walk, photo session, etc. About the only time I'd pay a BF was for two women who had the hots for each other, and I was welcome to join in. Hard to get that back in the USA. 🙂 . . .

  7. I haven’t paid a Barfine in years. In Bangkok I either meet up with an old friend who doesn’t work in bars anymore or spend the night with a cashier I’ve known a long time once the bar closes.

  8. Just to add a kind of disclaimer, as my post probably sounds a bit lame but is relevant only to the last 8 years or so, and probably connected to having a young daughter who has put a different slant on things. I first hit the bars in 1987 and I had loads of money as I was working in SE Asia. I remember my first bar fine, I was staying in the Tawana Ramada near Patpong. I tried to leave my room 2 times but returned as my knees were trembling, I was scared at what I was told was the deal. Once out the door, I did arrive at my first bar, went through the heavy blue velvet curtain of Superstar bar and I was smitten. Just took the first girl I saw as I walked into the place. Bar fining and the girly scene has probably taken a heavy toll on my finances, I would be far richer now than I actually am. Think a lot of younger guys think the older generation are that fat balder bunch of oldies they like to laugh at. Truth is, most of us have the t-shirt and will probably have had more girl liaisons than those who laugh at us, the quality would have been better too mostly. In 1988 I went to live in Sabang, Puerta Galera, Philippines. I arrived on 01 October and by the end of the month I had had 31 different girls. I can no longer maintain that ability but my history of companions isn't really anything I have many photos of and is mainly in the memory cells. Unlike @Yessongs, I have never taken a photo of a girl in my bedroom, I have had photos of girls outside the boudoir, but most have been destroyed by me or past companions. I just won't take the risk of having photos posted on a forum (or stories of liaisons) as they may be used by 'white knights' to ruin what I have going presently. That happened once on another Pattaya based forum and my marriage suffered because of it. I am kind of happy I am not bar fining anymore, I just don't think there is real value in it. Back in the day, it was worth bar fining in most bars or go gos, we were spoilt for choice. I am 68, and you would think that I might aim a little bit lower if considering a bar fine. Thing is, I am usually disappointed at what is on offer and the prices seem too high for what would be offered to me. Still enjoy the scene, both in Thailand and the Philippines but it looks to me that most of those considered a top shelf girl are on social media rather than shaking their booties in a club. From what some say here there are a few clubs on WS that do have a fair share of top shelf girls but it isn't like it used to be. I will stick to my cup of tea and Oreos with maybe a massage thrown in for good measure.

  9. Reminds me of a pair I had over several trips I called the suck n fuck sisters one was definitely more lesbian oriented ( you can work out which one that was ) she could suck the chrome of a tow ball This was near 20 years ago I was staying at the rumachitt plaza sitting out side at the bar above thermal and my body was saying it's time to get to work and they hadn't scored and made me a offer I couldn't refuse Used to email them a week or so before arriving in bkk

  10. I think you are judging rather harshly here - I paid lots of barfines back in the day and it was always LT unless I was on Soi 6 in the afternoon; but then the baht strengthened against my dollar and my own stamina, and indeed even my will, weakened as I grew older until today I rarely pay barfines. I never was a two-week millionaire, by the time I started visiting I was already a senior employee and got plenty of time off, not visiting for less than a month and usually more; I worked hard for my money and wanted value when I was spending it and could usually have a pretty good time without being overly extravagant. Today I would consider any barfine up to 500b to be reasonable from a beer bar and perhaps double that for a go-go hottie if you really have to have her, but I would do both sparingly. I've been here for almost six weeks and have only paid three barfines in that time, one for an old friend working on Soi Diana for 500b and two for the same girl in Jomtien during the last week or so, but it was only 300b and she was well worth it.

  11. Amateur! My best was 5 in a 9-hour slot, I think a Secrets girl was #6 and all I wanted to do was sleep…..she actually got offended I wasn’t “up to it”, and left early…Must have been that famous Pattaya humidity that tired me out For those who haven’t seen yet, this was the greatest ST ever for me in 2009, out of a complex that backs onto the water on WS. Was just having an early beer, wasn’t busy yet, and just started pointing like “OK, you, you and you”….Wished I had 6 hands, didn’t know what to do next….

  12. Similar to a few guys here, can't remember the last time I paid a bar fine in Pattaya. In fact don't travel to Pattaya as much now although, if there, more likely to find me dark side meeting up with my mates. Even if I don't bar fine, I will still buy drinks and do enjoy the companionship of a lady sitting close. I actually like bar hopping, moving around and, maybe, it's just the same bullshit I have heard over the many years I have been in Thailand and visiting that sees my money getting more value outside of the girly scene. I still like the atmosphere of being immersed in the bar area and clocking girls (mainly in Hua Hin) but, as I have said a few times before, my bed partners now are a cup of tea and a packet of Oreos.

  13. I was totally the same way, I thought it was a waste of a day if I didn’t barfine at least once a day. Would get through 3 girls a day in my prime lol. We are close to the same age, and to be honest, sex just don’t have the interest for me anymore. It’s mainly why Pattaya doesn’t interest me anymore. Last few trips I was just happy meeting with forum members and having a beer and a laugh. With not being able to drink now there’s nothing to make me go back really. Might as well go to Spain or somewhere else in Europe.

  14. I do not know what vintage you are Mr. Still'. But i think your synopsis is pretty spot on for most folk once we are on the downward slope of life, my self included..... Also, after living here for 21 years, 19 of which in Pattaya, the novelty does wear off a tad.....

  15. I'm barfining less .. on my short trips I used to think it was a failure if I didn't find a LT companion every night of the holiday Now on these longer trips , I'm trying to drink less and I think my appetite for the girls has also dropped, I'm happy with some daytime fun and see no need to find a friend for the evening as well ... it maybe an age thing as well ... 🥲555

  16. "Are the GC's supplying the release for a lot of guys so all they do in the evenings is have a few beers and head back home?." That would be me most of the time. But it could be more that I've changed than what the BF situation might be at the bars now. I have a lady at home so don't want to run the risk of being seen transporting my BF to a ST room, even if it's close by.

  17. Usually a tank full in the Nissan last almost a month, but with my visits to the hospital to see the nephew & Mum’s multiple birthday parties, thought I’d fill up at Costco before the weekend $ hikes Of course, if the gas tank gets filled, so does my gut….Under £3 equivalent….these days that’s a steal. Dog was excellent, pizza not so much though today

  19. When I was in TukCom buying a newer IPhone last year I spotted these lighted charge cables and picked up a couple - I've had one going almost full-time for over a year now and it's just as bright as ever - they make a good nightlight both at home and in hotel rooms and condos:

  20. Before I left home I was in the pub one night with friends, one of whom is a "Harley boy"; he asked me if I could pick up two XL Harley shirts from the dealer in Pattaya; he opened Google maps on his phone and showed me where the local dealer is, way out on Sukhumvit a little way past the south junction of Jomtien 2nd Rd and Sukhumvit. I told him I could get Harley-related shirts much cheaper from the market or street vendors, but oh no, he wanted the "real thing". I asked a local bike-riding expat about getting shirts at this place a couple of weeks ago and he replied "good luck with that!" so I wasn't expecting any miracles. Anyway, I figured I'd work a good walk into this task so I caught a baht bus to the corner of Jomtien Beach Rd and Soi Chayapreuk and then headed out on foot all the way down Chayapreuk to Sukhumvit and then along the main drag. I found the place easy enough and entered it as the only customer; the Thai staff, one female and three males in the showroom, did not even raise their eyes from their phones as I went in and headed over to the clothing section. I poked around there for a while and found a design that didn't look half bad but after going through about 25 examples of same, all they had was one shirt in XL and it was a light grey colour, made in Nicaragua and not really impressing me with its feel. The price, you ask? 1790b, bloody ridiculous and I just shook my head and left the building. I then walked all the way down Sukhumvit to Soi Boonkanchana with the hopes of finding a place to wet my whistle, only to find that a bar complex I had visited before Covid has been plowed and is now just another construction site. I had to walk almost all the way to 2nd Rd to find a place that was open and had a fair thirst on by that time; after taking care of that I carried on to Rompho and had a haircut and bite to eat and then home to the condo - 12.5km altogether and I did enjoy the walk. I'll look around Soi Buakhow market for a Harley shirt or two and if they are not good enough for buddy at home, I'll just give them to someone else.

  21. I'm similar. I think we of a certain age (to be polite) far prefer good meals and real conversations these days to actual naughty participation but we still enjoy a good look and like to read about others as it sparks our memories.

  25. I have to say though the hunt instinct will always be in my blood. I still enjoy the fact that here, if you do run into a little mouth watering spinner that you just got to have, it can usually be done. I reckon it's like the old joke. - Two bulls standing on a hillside looking down at the heifers. Young bull says let's run down there and fcuk one of them. The old bull says, lets walk down and fcuk em all.

  26. It has been a long time since I have paid a bf. I'm not saying I won't ever again, but just the way it's been. Patts is obviously a bit different than most places. Something I used to really enjoy was the spontaneous day time encounter. When I was livining in Central every now and then would see one coming into or out of the condo that would catch my fancy. Or even just getting on a baht bus. Strike up a quick hello and within seconds you'll know if it could go somewhere. Do a quick interview, and then make a decision. No fuss, no probelm, lickety split.... then continue on with your day.

  28. Do you have HRV? What is HRV? Can you get HRV with a side of fries? Heart rate variability. In simple terms, if you heart beats with the precision of a Swiss watch say one beat every 1000ms (1 second) then you would have a heart rate (HR) of 60 BPM but no HRV. If, on the other hand, the interval between beats was slightly erratic say 950ms, 1050ms, 900ms, 1100ms then you would also have a HR of 60 BPM but with HRV. If there is no underlying disease or cause then a high HRV is good. HRV can be considered an indication of overall fitness. HRV reduces naturally with age. Over training can reduce HRV. There is an app, ithlete - https://www.myithlete.com/, that some people use to plan their training days. In my younger days I used it all the time. For some reason I always found it necessary to restrict myself to a light workout due to a low HRV, well I thought it was low. Polar HR monitors calculate a thing called fitness based on HRV. HRV is measured when you are at rest. Polar, for example, suggest you wear your chest strap and device when you sleep to get the best reading. Any device/app combination that communicate over BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) should be able to calculate HRV because the protocol for BLE HRMs requires they supply the heart rate interval in binary milliseconds (1024ths of a second).Devices which use photoplethysmography are not considered as accurate as those which detect the heart beat electrically. e.g. chest strap. Why did I make this post. Wel I thought it might be of interest and then @Yessongs posted a photo of his oximeter and I remembered the oximeter I got during the pandemic also displayed HRV. This one It is unbranded but the model is YWK-J1 and available from a number of sellers on Aliexpress so shop around if interested. The app is called Oximeter-H. PI stands for perfusion index. There's plenty of information on the internet about HRV so do your own research. And yes, photoplethysmography is a real word. Photoplethysmography (PPG) is a simple optical technique used to detect volumetric changes in blood in peripheral circulation. It's the little green LED that flashed on the underside of wrist fitness devices etc.
