I have the use of a Thai gardener that sorts my gaff out. He only speaks Thai and i don't so my wifey deals with him. He does a reasonable job but not really up to English standards but what he does is ok. Wifey has just called him and he's willing to come out to your gaff and have a lookie and chat with you if you speak Thai or your wifey/GF if you don't. His TEL number is 0857683220. Pic of my garden and his maintenance work....7 points

I was in Bodega bar a couple of weeks ago, there is a service girl who has a wonky eye, she has worked there for as long as I can remember and as I walked past she shouted out to me, so I went in for a chat and bought her a drink.5 points

Pretty sure it's owned by the lady that owns the big big Market just across from there. She's a really nice lady I was walking by one day about a week before Christmas and she had thousands of packs of water and she was giving them away to everybody for Christmas anybody coming by she'd stop them and give them a nine pack of that water. She really is a nice lady4 points

Aggressive drunks in bars are a nuisance. Liars and fantasists are boring, taking the piss out of them just bounces off. The "writers", "artists", "photographers" and "cinematographers" do bring a more intellectual slant to sex tourism. But real eccentrics i don't see many.4 points

Got home and went straight to bed after turning my water back on and my heating up to 19 degrees. Slept well for 8 hours. Feels good to be home again, although I now have all of the mail to go through and the jobs to catch up on. My mate left me a bottle of milk by the door, so I can at least enjoy a fresh cup of tea without going out.4 points

Feeling domestic today and bought a large non stick wok, a heavy duty deep frying pan and a new non stick baking tray. Sad being a batchelor sometimes, but I am handy in the kitchen3 points

Anytime my wife is anywhere near a duty free she gets me aftershaves that she thinks would make me smell nice.😘 Her trip back home to Thailand in August is bound to mean I’ll get a year’s supply of “smellies” as she calls them and several different perfumes for herself. 👍3 points

You know what I am not so sure… Both are laid back guys who enjoy their lives and possess the outstanding character trait of being able to laugh at themselves. But They are proud of their service and don’t suffer fools gladly who insult the institutions they were involved in. It was my impression they were really quite annoyed with the guy and almost embarrassed by him.3 points

I met an American "can't talk about it" former serviceman yesterday afternoon in Udon. I was doing dad taxi so hadn't had a drink and TBH this guy was a loudmouth drunk. It was around 2pm. Even though we were sat on seperate tables, he insisted on trying to hold a conversation, or rather talk at me. Just so happened the 2 guys I went to meet were also from the States, one (you met him @boydeste) ex US armygreen of 25 years and the other although retired for 10 years, is/was the genuine article who really does not talk about his service to his country. So my 2 friends turn up and as soon as the wannabe heard the accents he invited himself to come and sit at our table. He lasted about 5 mins. It was like watching an interogation and I almost felt sorry for him when he realised how totally out of his depth and "out ranked" he was. They were brutal, no mercy whatsoever and he got found out and sent on his sorry way. I have had similar experiences with other fantasists in Thailand. Got to be honest and admit that I often don't care if they are telling or embelishing the truth as long as I am in the right mood and its a good story.3 points

I went with a MG4 and am very happy with it but the BYD Dolphin is very good as well and I seriously considered it. BYD are going to produce some of their vehicles in Thailand soon and the Dolphin will be one of the models made in Thailand. BYD have big improvement's coming soon for their batteries building on already very good batteries (& cars). BYD started out as a battery manufacturer (30% of the batteries in mobile phones world-wide are made by BYD). They started making cars including EV's earlier this century and are one of the biggest car manufacturers world-wide. The main difference between the two (IMO) is that the MG is rear wheel drive has good overall kit and is a drivers care with good finishing. Its been reviewed consistently very well by various motoring journalists and much can be found on YouTube, The Dolphin is front wheel drive all models come with all the bells and whistles and a range of different size engines and batteries making it a very good runabout for a range of circumstances. The new model should out later in the year. Again plenty of YouTube reviews available. Off the shelf charging kit are readily available and it may well be worth your while to explorer linking it to solar and a home battery. But a plug in home charger is the most straightforward way to go.3 points

That FB Page won’t load. 😟 Trouble getting charged? Why would anyone buy an EV that they can’t charge at home, or at least at a nearby DC charger, seems extremely stupid to me, especially as the distance between public chargers must be high, compared to the UK where distances between chargers are very low. How stupid to rely on a charger 100 miles away, especially if when they get there, it’s broken. Obviously range will be lower in winter, if they didn’t understand that when they purchased the vehicle, that’s their fault. Didn’t they try googling anything about EV’s to do their due diligence? A few clicks on a pc would have told them about range in winter conditions. Bad dealerships are all over the place, we have them here in the UK for both EV’s and ICE vehicles, but that’s got nothing to do with how EV batteries work in cold temperatures. 😉3 points

Obviously they’d arranged for getting a charge from a portable electric source, such as a generator or battery bank. How do all the snowmobiles and big tracked vehicles get their “fuel” at the North and South Poles, at a fuel pump of course.🤪 But this isn’t about charging is it, it’s about EV’s working in the freezing temperatures and it seems it worked for them, both at the North and South Poles. As for the “press in Minnesota”, how many intrepid reporters actually went to check that the stranded EV’s were actually broken down due to a cold battery, I’d lay good money that none of them got off their assholes to check, just made up the stories in their nice warm offices. Of course it was a publicity stunt! why else would Nissan front it, but then, so was Clarkson and Mays trip by ICE pickup to the North Pole, I think that could have been in a Nissan truck as well, or maybe a Toyota. I seem to remember they had a special fuel heating system built into their fuel tanks to stop the fuel freezing and “BRICKING” the ICE vehicle. 🤣3 points

😂😂😂 Bloody hell Derek I was thinking the exact same thing!!. One observation that I made recently, well, more of a comparison actually is that in the past the eccentrics were harmless, they'd interact , be happy to chat and were just doing it because they were eccentric and enjoyed bringing happiness to others, like Glitterman. Nowadays maybe it's more of a poor mental health thing. I detected an air of hostility in Pattaya in general this trip, and while I didn't see anyone I'd class as eccentric, the place does have a pretty good track record for sending people mad.3 points

Evening all planned out now ! I'm just about to go out and water everything in the orchard. When that's done I'll cook a nice piece of Aussie striploin rare, then fry mushrooms in the juice and butter. All washed down with "Soft and Smooth" Aussie Cabernet Merlot 14% and 346 baht from Lotus's... Then it is gonna be a night of drinking and watching the footie coz I bought 3 bottles!! @Stillearly must be praying for me to drink at least one bottle before Fantasy Deadline time !!!3 points

Have you figured out what this new place will be? My guess is a fresh food market, which would be a great addition to our neighborhood. Noticed too how a lady that is probably the owner has been out their daily sweeping and keeping the place immaculately clean.2 points
