Butch
For me it was to be a compression diver, working on oil Rigs and doing underwater stuff like welding and fixing. It never happened because I was talked out of it by an Ex Royal Navy diver who told me that (this was back in the 80's) it was such an unhealthy and unregulated job, as a result the retirements were often from medical injuries or issues, or other long term health problems and there were not many guys doing it over the age of 40, for that very reason. While the money was obscene, the risk / reward was questionable, and getting on the ladder would have been tough. In some ways I am glad I never went into it, although I'm sure the rewards were good, the thought now of spending my 50's battling health issues doesn't appeal.
Aqualung
My father was a school teacher, Head of mathematics and later head of computing studies. He taught me maths and although I loved my late dad and was immensely proud of him I kind of hated school. For me, if I had the brains and choice all over again instead of pissing around my education I would say 3 jobs would I love. First, wildlife cameraman for the BBC working with the likes of David Attenborough. Secondly working with or for the National Trust UK. And thirdly, head groundsman at Lancashire County Cricket club. Unfortunately for me.... Slipper factory.... Initial UK.... Pearl Assurance and then 21 years in the printing industry. Thank feck I'm done with all that shite now.

Glasseye
Just now, Stillearly said: Porn star , unfortunately didn't have the body or cock to make it happen ... lol Same same. But I don't think my other job bosses would have approved. Baseball pitcher for the Chicago Cubs. I didn't have the arm for that or the cock for being a porn star..... 😒

Well, BM @Nightcrawler lived your dream, however it was in an arguably slightly more "specialised" version of pornography. 1
Derek Dangleberries
I guess that I am quite lucky in that I've never really wanted to do anything other than the jobs I have already had.

Horizondave
Nearly became a gigolo for the '4 by 2 blue rinse' ladies of Fort Lauderdale. My fellow airline ticket desk colleague told me all I had to do was know how to dance and Rolex watches and new cars would be thrown at me. Never took up the offer. p.s Apologies to those who do not understand what I mean but that is exactly how it was put to me in 1980 by my friend who had a big bank balance.

You could have been a "dance partner" on a cruise line. Probably paid well. But, the probability of catching Covid, or some kind of awful bacterial or even yeast infection.... lol among other things. Probably a wise decision not to do it.
AJSP
Spoke to my Son about this a year or so ago as when I was a young boy 👦 had visions of becoming a fisherman or a dustbin man - now in hingdsight, the fisherman job would have been dangerous and hard whereas a slight spin on the dustbin man job should I have pursued it could have evolved into a recycler / waste transfer bod which can provide a decent life with a bit of investment and luck. I chose neither!

Yessongs
Always wanted to play Pro Baseball. Fat chance, played at San Jose State Univ from 1975-1978. If you did not hit .320 or higher, you would not get any looks from the scouts or even be remotely considered for the amateur draft. It's cool, my Senior year I hit .290....not good enough. Some of the best days of my life were playing for SJSU. Ended up 38 years in "High Tech" working in Marketing. It was a "god send" I guess....ended up meeting the current Mrs. Yessongs through work. Pretty touching story huh LOL! @Glasseye Just so you know, The Dodgers rule!! 😃

Pretty touching story huh LOL! @Glasseye Just so you know, The Dodgers rule!! 😃 Great pic. and great story Mike. In my book the only thing better than baseball is pussy and music (not necessarily in that order, lol). In all actuality I almost chose music as my degree pursuit, and career, but I decided not to go that direction. Looking back I probably made the right choice, as now in the later years I have income security for as long as I live, and was able to completely retire at the age of 51. If I had went the music route I'd probably still be changing broken guitar strings for some band in the back of a coffee shop somewhere. Although, I have to admit, the path I took certainly left some scars. I don't regret it one bit, and I am very proud of what I was able to achieve. But, I often wonder what life might have been if I had pursued what I really loved over what I thought was practical. Either way.... I am thrilled with every day. And thankful to enjoy all of the tremendous sounds and beautiful sights that are out there. I plan to make it last for as long as I can.
Jambo
I wanted to be a pro footballer. The closest I came was the £5 I received for playing in a pre-season friendly for Faversham Town. I was knocked out by the elbow of some Kent miner playing for Folkestone after I stupidly nutmegged him. The Faversham coach said "See you for training on Tuesday" to which I responded along the lines of f**k that for two soldiers! So ended my (semi) pro football career. 2
