  2. Just got off of the phone to my older brother. We have not spoken or met for the last 5 or 6 years, for various reasons, that I won't go into, but I am so glad that I called him today. . We are meeting next week and so much to talk about. Its a huge weight off of of my mind and the guilt for not staying in touch. We are very much alike and it was almost like having a conversation with myself, lol.

  4. I got carried away on my walk today. A little under 21.5 km. You can see where I cooled down in Big C, Lotus’s and Makro.

  6. This list of elderly musicians still active popped up in a Facebook group I belong to. I found it interesting as I thought some of the people mentioned were no longer with us! I'm sorry the picture isn't very clear - you might well need to expand it to read the list.

  8. Reminds me of looking for fruit and veg that looked vaguely familiar to me in the old Morning Market in Hua Hin back in 1998/9 I looked each morning whilst the wife whipped around getting her Thai food etc, but I was always disappointed. Then finally, one morning, I spotted a small box of potatoes that actually resembled the type of potatoes I was used to back in Blighty, spuds I could actually cut up and deep fry as home cooked chips. My mouth was actually salivating at the thought. I bought the lot and stuffed them in a bag and set off to find the wife to show her the treasure I’d discovered. She wasn’t at all impressed, but I wasn’t downhearted in the least. We jumped in the car and I sped off home, eager to get the spuds peeled and a wok with oil on the go and smell the smell of vinegar on chips again. Imagine my disgust, when the first peeling fell to the table to reveal that the potatoes I’d bought were fucking bright yellow inside and I instinctively knew they wouldn’t taste like the chips I craved for. Life can be so full of disappointment. 😟😡

  9. I imagine having the adulation of an audience, and accumulating large sums of money, must be hard things to give up.

  11. A friend of mine died at his work yesterday😣 The police are calling it suicide, because he fell into a huge 20,000 gallon barrel of beer, but got out 3 times to take a piss.

  14. I was just about to go to bed at about 11.50 last night when I had a call from my mums care home, they wanted my permission to call an ambulance for her as her lower legs & feet had swollen up badly in the last 24hrs. I'll have to wait until it's 8am to call them back for an update. There was a report in the local rag yesterday that Watford General Hospitals phone lines had been down for 3 days.WGH is a shithole, the staff are lovely but the hospital needs pulling down. She had DVT a couple of years ago in her right leg. That bout of Delhi Belly from Hemingways the night before came in useful....at least I was sober at 11.50pm.

  15. My weakness is when I get around girls like these when downtown. The 2 night Millionaire LOL! I am always amazed at how much Sangsom and Coke I can drink, when I get in places like this you know? Never get drunk, but dam I sure do feel good. Since I rarely drink hard liquor at all.....it is the only time when I do.

  16. So keeping with the 70’s theme here, just had a great dinner, a good wine buzz and just looking back at some of the phenomenal concerts I saw in the 70’s…..and there were alot, I mean alot. Just was an “English Progressive” fan, just the time in my life like alot of others….guys like Emerson, Lake and Palmer were just an instrumental part of my daily listening back then. In Aug 1977, my first time ever seeing them at the Oakland Coliseum Arena. Drove to Oakland the day the tickets went on sale at that box office, my buddy and I still talk about this show like it was yesterday. We were rewarded with 3rd row, dead center, reserved seats. Man I have to tell you, it was not Baseball season at San Jose State where I played. 1977 was my Junior year there and was getting the starting left field job there but……having a few “bong hits” was just too hard to resist LOL! Those were the days! Out they come, opening up with ”Karn Evil #9” Man what an opener….the rest of the evening my hair was standing up, yeah even on my head, where I actually had quite the "doff" back in the day LOL! Back in 1977, they let you bring in 35MM cameras, unlike today. I had my Minolta SRT 101….with a Vivitar 135MM zoom lens. Got a few great shots. Just outstanding, how these 3 guys could make music like this you know? Fast forward 20 years later to September 1997. Saw them at the Concord Pavilion, talk about depressing. There were probably like 1,500 people there that night….they just didn’t draw the kinds of crowds they had back in the 70’s. I tell you what, they DID NOT disappoint at all. They played like there were 15,000 people there, the sign of a true, legendary group playing for those few who still wanted to see them. It was a warm night out there, I mean really warm. Carl Palmer comes out with no shirt on, the dude is just “ripped” Good lord, that I will never forget seeing you know. “Lucky Man” was always on the set list…Greg Lake never disappointed with his voice…..this is a great video, especially when you get to 3:22 of this video when Keith Emerson just goes absolutely nuts on that “Moog Synthesizer” solo he does. Pass me the bong! Dam…RIP to Greg Lake and Keith Emerson both…..the 70’s were a part of my life, I will never forget. “Oooooooooh what a lucky man……………..he was.

  23. I have curtailed my consumption of alcohol these days, it is only on my trips abroad and then in Thailand I stick to the beer. Three to four trips a year for 3-4 weeks at a time, once back in the UK I do not touch any booze until I return to the airport to catch the Emirates flight back to Thailand. I know I would be an alcoholic if I continued drinking at home. Back to Patts next week with a side trip booked to Siem Reap....
