  1. Well Cliff, like you, me and many others, we are NOT the same as we once were....1976 was a long time ago. Pete Townshend was amazing that evening at "Winterland" One other thing that sticks with me as a 19 year old back then, how in god's name did Daltrey swing that microphone out into the audience like he did, several times it came close to me, then pull it back and continue singing and never miss?? Truly amazing.. God I miss the 70's.....

  6. Based on the escalating number of obviously bogus emails and text messages that I am receiving, I am of the opinion that scamming activity is on the increase in Fun City. I have also had a "pig butchering" contact. I enjoyed playing around with the later for a while, just to have them waste their time before cutting them off at the knees. The "pig butchering" initial approach came over Line. Anyway I was saddened to learn that a lady friend got taken in by a scam recently. She is usually a smart woman. The sophistication and masking of these scams seems to be getting more sophisticated. I had an email show up supposedly from DHL (had the logos etc.) saying that my package was being held because they needed my address and phone number. Glad I did not have an outstanding DHL request at that time.

  7. I don't think there's any right or wrong answer. People had to weigh up what they wanted to do based on their own personal circumstances. Like me, I have 1 or 2 ailments which potentially would have been made worse by Covid, coupled with getting a blood clot around September 2020 (Before any vaccine was produced) which coincidentally happened when I tested positive for Covid. So for me I decided to have the 2 shots, then 1 booster. When the time came for the 2nd booster, Covid had mutated to be quite mild, so I decided against anymore. I've had covid since, just like a heavy cold. As it stands, I still won't be having anymore. My wife made her own choice based on her own personal circumstances. My daughter, who was then 5 and too young to make an informed decision, I decided she had no need to have the vaccine. I haven't changed from my then view.

  8. There was misinformation early on that lead people to believe the vaccine would stop you from catching Covid. That was never the case. Best you could hope for was the symptoms would be milder with the jab. My score. Two jabs at the beginning of the China virus. Never tested positive, but that means diddly squat as the tests are not that accurate and I'm fairly confident based on symptoms I've probably come down with it a couple of times. The most recent was probably a month ago. Symptoms were pretty mild so I've never felt inclined to get a booster.

  10. For me when in the village it is a car. I bought one 13 years ago but Thai brother in law has totally f***d it. On a recent trip back wifey was told we could borrow a car whenever we needed one and had no need to rent one, it worked out like this: where you want to go? Oh great I will come to, oh and my sister wants to come, she will be here soon. An hour later eight of us are now squeezed into the vehicle finally set to leave. we get in to town and our half hour grocery run takes two hours because everyone wants to go somewhere different. And then joy of joys we get to buy them all lunch. 4 hours gone Never again! Last time we had a rental car for the whole trip and it worked like this: ”I’m going to Lotus” get in car and drive to shop. Go into shop and buy what I want. drive home 45 minutes maximum. Oh yes , brother in law is hoping for a new car to appear. I will not paying for it

  12. Same can be said about concerts. Hate to be stuck behind a field of smartphone screens blocking the view of the musicians. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2023/02/17/live-events-concerts-smartphones/

  19. Problem with living alone, as many know, is lots of food comes in packs for couples or families..... so the brioche rolls I bought came in a 4 pack, and as two were consumed yesterday, there were two more sitting staring at me. Yes, I could have thrown them in the freezer, but that is already full of other goodies... The fridge had some mince, onions, Tommy k and cheese in.... so....

  24. Dr Google has replied. Make sure you have a styptic (anti-bleeding) powder available at all times to stop bleeding. You can buy this powder over-the-counter (without a prescription) from a pharmacy or store. This powder works very well to stop bleeding in patients on blood thinners. Talk with your local pharmacist for more information. https://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/AntiCoag/CutsBloodThinners.pdf

  29. I understand your concern, but I was never questioned by the DL centre about the lack of visa, where I was staying etc., they were just concerned with whether I had a residence certificate and other appropriate documentation. All other documentation was in order and I was directed to just do my tests and watch the obligatory video. I was never worried about the DL office as, for me, as long as I had the residence certificate, I knew I wouldn't have issues later during my appointment. Now this was Pranburi near Hua Hin (for Prachuap Khiri Khan) and I was renewing. It had even been suggested that if I did get the DL renewal, it might only be for 2 years extension. Amazingly, they gave me 5 years from my next birthday, so still 5 years validity from this coming July.

  36. Yep. Dogs have some pretty strong instincts. Something that has to be kept in mind when training and raising. -------- I'll never forget when my chesapeake took off after the rear tire of a Ford Tarus when she was a pup. She almost caught it and I almost shit my pants. My family had a Westie when I was a kid (our second family dog). She was the sweetest dog I've ever known. Years later I got my own dog (Black Lab). Another sweety, but when she got pissed at another dog.... the other dog was fcuked. She was strong as a mule. I used to let the Westie and the lab play once and a while. It was always friendly, they got along fine. But sometimes the lab would get a little rough. That Westie would not back down an inch. I couldn't believe how tough she was. I would end playtime quick though.
