Do you think that walking street will recover after this crises has passed, or do you think that this will be the final nail in the coffin for most bars on WS?

😥

50/50 some will survive others will fall all depends how greedy they get when things open again.some will keep prices high and not get the custom back.others hopefully will drop prices and if they have the right mind set they will talk to the girls about things and try and get them to ntice they can not charge stupid prices no more.but this is thailand and most will not take note at all and most will fall to the ground

If any street in Pattaya is going to survive it is walking street. The Chinese and Indian hordes will return and they have increasingly been the main source of custom on the famous strip.

for sure it will rebound but to what degree is the question IMO so many places will not reopen

They'll be bought over by Chinese, Indians, Arabs and those with money. There will be plenty of people with money who will nab themselves a bargain.

Not so sure anything is a bargain in Patts anymore ....

Might be the perfect time for it to relocate to another area, and make a real nice promenade there.

LK and The Avenue for GoGo’s would make an awful lot of sense, and have WS as a dining and shopping place.

I am not at all sure that is correct.

They may be promenading in numbers up and down but do those tour parties actually spend any real money?

Do they not mostly pre-pay and go mob handed to eat and not in Walking Street?

If that were true then how would the businesses that cater exclusively to each mob stay open. Not only do they stay open but more and more have opened in recent years.

The only thing I would miss about WS is heading down to LePub if you want to consider it part of WS. Hope not!  Long live Phil's bar. I didn't think any seasoned holidaymakers still wasted their time out on WS. Maybe I am wrong?

Well I must admit that I do not socialise all that much in Walking Street these days but you are totally incorrect to imply that the Chinese tour parties packed out the bars and GoGo's in Walking Street. God forbid that the Indians ( one bottle of water between four)  ever will or ever did for that matter.

I never said they did mate. I said they frequent bars and club oriented towards them. They are now several bars and clubs that cater to either chinks or Indians on walking street now.

I love the myth that the chinks spend nothing, spread by derby dave, sat down the plaza sipping 50b beers in his piss stained Lonsdale shorts and his bad guys go to Pattaya vest.

Not many bargains in Pattaya, in a place where you can't own nothing, in this climate I don't think Arabs or Chinese are that stupid.

There will be fire sales of businesses there if this goes on for 6 months or more. Chinese are able to circumvent Thai rules on foreign ownership, they've been doing it for decades, they own huge swathes of Bangkok.

Property is different from bars in an area that's landmarked for future demolition.

How long have those rumours been doing the rounds though mate? I suspect walking street will look much the same in 5-10 years time.

Well I have not seen Derby Dave for years but he and I used to drink in the same pub as one another in Dorridge when we both lived in Knowle in the West Midlands. We just did not know one another until we both started to come to Pattaya.

I do not recognise him from your description.

I was taking the piss. I made up the name derby dave, I didn't know he was a real person.
