Popular Post Jambo Posted July 10, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 10, 2020 (edited) The National Parks and other attractions around the Mae Sot area of Tak province have only just reopened following the vigorously imposed Covid19 restrictions being relaxed. The fact that there have only been two positive cases in the whole province (both back in March) is either testament to the prudent action taken or a vast over reaction by the local authorities.Take your pick! 😀 The province may only have two significant towns but it has a number of excellent National Parks and Sai keeps finding quite unexpected hidden gems for us to visit. Yesterday was a 40 minute drive through the quite spectacular countryside which surrounds Mae Sot to vist the Tropical Gardens of Terrayawan. The gardens are extensive to say the least but also contain many other items of interest. Dual pricing did apply but with a difference. "How much did it cost to get in Sai?' "It was 50 baht for us (3 sisters) but nothing for you as free for Senior Citizens!" Sai sure knows how to twist the knife! 🥴 The first impression is very pleasing to the eye. 😀 We started to wander around the gardens themselves. They actually go on for ever and they have a cycle park where you can borrow a cycle but we gave that a miss. I wonder if anybody recognises this fruit. Looks like an apple but the size of a mellon. Sai has no idea what it is either? This wee fellow is called "Sparky" He's not so tough! We slowly made our way back to meet the rest of the family in the Cafe. It is not a Honda, that is for sure! Found a real "Iron" throne inside! 🤣 A very enjoyable day out. Edited July 10, 2020 by Jambo 11 1 1

Lanzalad Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 Never been to that part of Thailand, i think its not too far from Kanchanaburi Some great shots and thanks for posting
nampla69 Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 Great to see a Senior Citizen enjoying his golden years ........ Like the old National Parks for a day out ...........this picture should be worth a caption competition. Reminds me of you opening the back office door in Secrets when the special knock was given......
Atticus Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 Nice photos Jambo. I liked many of the quirky embellishments dotted around (the Covid reference on Chucky's overalls amongst others). I take it Sparky was made out of spark plugs? That was quite neat. At what age does the Senior Citizen discount kick in? 1

At what age does the Senior Citizen discount kick in? Yes, Sparky was covered in spark plugs. 😀 I refused to acknowledge the Senior Citizen discount so I did not ask. I would like to think that I got included by mistake with Sai's mum and dad. It got worse. When Sai and I got to the Cafe we met up with the others who already had drinks and snacks. I ordered two cold chocolate drinks for Sai and I from a very presentable assistant who asked me something in Thai which I did not understand. Sai was laughing her head off again and said "Lady wants to know if you have a voucher?" "What voucher?" says I. "The voucher they give to Senior Citizens on entry so you can get 20% discount!" No comment............Voucher already used by Sai's Mum. 🥴 2

The gardens go on forever and we only really explored about half of the attraction. It was only when we were leaving that we realised from a sign outside that we had completely missed an exhibit hall which looked to be housing a whole lot of interesting items. As I mentioned it has only recently reopened and basically apart from our group of six we only saw maybe less than 10 other visitors. They must normally in pre Covid days be used to lots more because they must have had 50 or more cycles available for visitors to use. I am sure that we will go back in the not too distant future. 1
