My condo is on the 6th floor so its the perfect height for Pigeons...

Pigeons use to hang out on my balcony and shit all over the place...

I found these swirly reflective things on Lazada.... They said these were  Pigeon deterrents...

I had Low Low expectations they would work....

But let me tell you Pigeons are absolutely terrified of these things....

Not a single Pigeon has been on my balcony since I put them up...

I have posted this before.

The pigeon that was stealing the poppies from the tomb of the unknown soldier at the Australian War memorial.

Notice the use of spikes in the construction of the nest.

The pigeon makes itself at home

Spikes are the way. I usually give birds a chance by sticking them in plain view as impossible places to sit. Disguising them as poppys for unsuspecting birds to land and pierce thenselves on doesn't break any rules. But.......

I don't now if you missed the "point".

The pigeon stole the poppies herself and used the spikes to weave the nest.

I missed the point completely - not unusual.

Good info in general all.

Prior to buying our house, where for some reason there is not much of a pigeon problem, we lived at VT2A for 7 years. VT2A has a lot of pigeons. Lots of talk on their board on how to combat them.

In general it was thought that:

  • Fake owls etc are a waste of money
  • Keeping a balcony clean of pigeon poop helps some. Nothing attracts pigeons more than pigeon poop.
  • Spraying some cockroach spray on the balcony rails may help some as well as WD40. The smell and slipperiness for their feet may help.
  • In general I liked tossing water at them.
  • I would try and nail the ones on the ground in the parking lot. Got 2. 🙂

I hate eff'n pigeons.

Never tried it myself, but I've read pointing a laser pen at them spooks them.

It spooks most birds, I use one to stop birds diving and eating all of my bait whilst fishing.

Either

Or

*Note, fit the cat with a self opening parachute in case of an error in judgement on its behalf.

Cats always land on their feet, fit some springs, then they get a second go at catching the birds!

I have the same problem with Magpies.

I feed my local magpies in the winter, but on a shelf fastened to a tree across my driveway so they can shit all they want....

Several years ago before I retired and after my Mom had died my dad moved in with my sister at her house (big mistake).

During that three or four year time period my oldest brother moved into the house as well. It was a big house, but also a big mistake. Dad was lonely and sis felt sorry for him, he was already properly set up in an assisted living facility. I told her it was a big mistake.

The older bro was thick as a brick. He somehow thought the warm a fuzzy family life would return. Just the opposite. He eventually moved out getting his own place.

Before he moved out the brother bought my 93 year old dad a .22 five shot revolver, and took him to an indoor range to "teach" him how to use it. However, the brother did not teach dad how to use proper ear protection, causing dad's hearing to get fcuked. I was not very happy.

Dad also had a Daisy air rifle. He used in thinking it would keep the squirrels away. The squirrels caused the dog to go nuts, which caused everyone else to go nuts.

One day dad decided he knew what the fcuk he was doing and began shooting through a sliding screen door that he thought was open. I think it was that day when my sister realized what a mistake she had made. I also think that day was the day I realized he was on a steep downward slope.
