  2. My niece and I drove about 300 miles Saturday to the Outer Banks, a 200-mile string of narrow barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina. The Outer Banks have been a popular tourist destination for at least 100 years. Long stretches of open beachfront are the main draw, but there are several other major attractions as well. This is where we are staying for a week, together with another of my nieces and her husband. It's a three-and-a-half-story beachfront house with 12 rooms, seven of which are bedrooms. That's a lot of space for four people and one dog! It has three "observation decks" and the bedrooms on the second and third stories all have balconies. The house had been reserved a year ago to accommodate 10 adults and five children for my family's annual reunion, but the COVID-19 pandemic made many relatives unwilling to travel. Rather than fight with the rental agent over the return of the deposit, the four of us agreed to take it for a week at a highly reduced rate. The pandemic has hit tourism to the Outer Banks very hard. The back side of the house with the entrance to the beach: The house has a small swimming pool and hot tub ... ... as well as an elevator: The views of the ocean are pretty good: A view of the neighborhood:

  5. Well........not to thread f**k, but Alan you will like this. I personally like Trump, I certainly like his " business acumen" and the things he has done in the last 3 1/2 years but.....he has failed big time in my opinion in the last few months with regard to this pandemic. Holding rallies, etc with no social distancing and his "overall" message with regards to this has not been good. Alright so Sunday, my gym still not open, working out in the garage right? It is hot, I don't give a crap what I look like, I come in the house, wifey is doing some yoga stuff. Again I am not looking my best, I come in for some water, she looks at me and says " U look like dat guy from UK"? I said " What are you talking about"? She says " Da one who got sick too and works in UK" I still am completely drawing a blank. She pulls out her phone and shows me Boris Johnson!!!!! Jesus Christ, I guess at times like this I need her sense of humor. She can be a kick at times I tell you. I think we all need a laugh during these tough times huh?

  12. All this talk about baked beans, guess what I had to have for lunch, lol? I just posted this as a reply to the Gallic Faction on the Bastille Day thread, but it's so interesting that it would be a shame not to include it here as well. So here we go, 29 fascinating things you never knew about baked beans: https://www.yours.co.uk/life/home/29-things-you-never-knew-about-baked-beans/ 1. Baked Beans were originally sold in the UK by Fortnum and Mason in 1901 as a luxury item. A large can would cost 9d (the equivalent to £2.15 by today’s prices). 2. The first can of British-manufactured Heinz Beanz was created in the Heinz factory in Harlesden in 1928. 3. The bean centre at the Heinz Kitt Green factory in Wigan (opened in 1959) uses 1,000 tonnes of dry beans per week. 4. Royalty have long been fans of Heinz Beanz, with The Queen accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh visiting the factory in 2009, following the Queen Mother’s visit in 1959. Heinz has now held a Royal Warrant for 63 years. 5. Heinz Beanz are one of the most popular foods in the UK. Every day over one a half million cans of Heinz Baked Beans are consumed in the UK. That’s more than 540 million cans a year. 6. There are approximately 465 beans per standard 415g can of Heinz Beanz. 7. The small white beans used to make Heinz Beanz are a type of haricot bean called ‘Navy’ beans. The other main ingredient is tomato puree, made with Mediterranean grown tomatoes. 8. Every individual bean is checked for colour and size before they are allowed into a can of Heinz Beanz. 9. They were originally called BAKED beans because the can is first filled with blanched beans, then the sauce, then the can is sealed with a lid, and THEN the cooking begins. The beans are cooked inside the sealed can. Yes that’s right – INSIDE THE CAN – and not before they go into the can. 10. The tomato sauce is blended with a secret mix of spices to create the distinctive Heinz flavour. 11. The special Heinz Beanz spice mix comes to the factory in numbered - as opposed to labelled – bags to keep the recipe a secret. Only three people in the world know the exact ingredients. 12. 50,000 tonnes of navy beans are shipped annually from North America to Liverpool docks and delivered every day to the Heinz factory in Wigan in two-tonne bags. 13. The factory holds 36 hours’ worth of beans at any one time, and 60 days’ worth of stock is held at Liverpool docks, just in case bad weather stops beans from travelling over the Atlantic in ships. 14. Scott took crates of Heinz Beanz on the infamous British Antarctic Expedition which started in 1910. A photograph from the expedition shows Frederick John Hooper tucking into a can whilst seated on a Heinz crate in 1911. 15. The original recipe for Heinz Beanz was based on Boston beans, so they used to contain pork. But because of shortages in the second World War, the pork was taken out and they were sold as vegetarian beans. They’ve remained the same ever since. 16. In the 1940s, the Ministry of Food classified Heinz Beanz as an “essential food” during wartime rationing. 17. The slogan ‘Beanz Meanz Heinz’ – created in 1967 - was unanimously voted best advertising slogan of all time by an expert panel from the UK’s advertising industry. The slogan now has a place in history, taking top slot in the Ad Slogan Hall of Fame. 18. Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik, Ellie Goulding and Joss Stone are all known to be fanz of Heinz Beanz. 19. 19. Heinz Beanz are exported to more than 60 countries, including Russia and China. 20. On The Who’s ‘Sell Out’ album cover, Roger Daltry appears immersed in Heinz Beanz and caressing a giant Heinz Beanz can. 21. Heinz Beanz are free from artificial colour and preservatives and a valuable source of protein and fibre, as well as being low in fat and sugars. 22. A serving of baked beans on toast, accompanied by a glass of milk, offers over a third of the recommended daily amounts of Iron, Vitamins B1 and B2 as well as three quarters the amount of calcium we need. 23. Heinz UK salesman used to carry a hot flask full of Heinz Beanz to provide samples for their customers. 24. Heinz Snap Pot was launched back in 2007, providing personalised portions that are simply snapped and heated in the microwave for one minute before being served. 25. In 2009, Heinz developed a prototype of what was believed to be the world’s smallest portable microwave, perfectly sized to fit a Heinz Snap Pot. The Beanzawave gave workers across the country a much needed helping hand to make some of their favourite hot snacks either on the go or at their desk by just plugging the microwave into the USB port on their computers. 26. Heinz uses enough tomatoes every day to fill an Olympic-size swimming pool. 27. If all the tomatoes used by Heinz in a year were loaded into 15 tonne trucks parked nose to tail, they would stretch from London to Southampton. 28. Heinz released the Fridge Pack in 2010 – the first ever resealable beans product that enables bean-fans across the country to use as much or as little as they like before they close and pop back in the fridge. 29. The well-known turquoise used as the predominant colour on the label of Heinz Beanz is registered to the brand through a UK Trade Mark registration.

  13. Murchie is a mate who's been stuck in Thailand due to Covid and I would hate to see him miss his flight back to work in Kuwait and consequently miss out on a big wad of cash because he got caught on overstay which could have been prevented with a small bit of cash. Your mai pen rai attitude is all good as long as nothing goes wrong but there's no harm in calling out the risks, and less of the "you don't even live here" attitude please.

  14. I'll get this back to Go gos reopening thread don't worry but first ...... heard a wonderful new thing today from critical race theory 'white fragility' etc. If they get a vaccine BAME people should get it first ............ however if they do get it first it confirms white racism because BAME people are being used as guinea pigs. Systemic racism see proven .......... .......... anyway apart from Tantra has anyone been into a Gogo and are they wearing visors?? Seems to be the Thai way rather than masks ......

  15. It's the interior of the house that's truly impressive. The third floor is a large open space that includes the kitchen, living room and dining room. We won't starve. that's for sure! The second floor is mostly bedrooms, each with a bathroom and TV. This is mine: The ground floor is mainly a rec room with pool table, fridge and microwave:

  18. I was in Immigration both this morning and again after they reopened following enjoying their somewhat extended lunch. It was busy in the morning and heaving in the afternoon. The first voice I heard was an older gentleman saying in a loud voice to Reception "But l cannot get a flight back to the USA by 31 July!" I expect many in Immigration today had similar problems. My bank were late opening this morning so I was in at 9.40 but did not get back to Immigration until 10.30. Larry always praises the service in the office next door who comp!eye the application, all the required copies and put everything together in the right order.I know in theory I could do the myself but 200 baht it was just one thing not to worry about. Only two ahead of Me in the morning so just 20 minutes for my turn. All going great at first with the guy going very quickly through each page with his highlighter pen working overtime. But this Immigration and he finds something of course to get me on. He notices my bank letter commences on the 19th September 2019 when I switched the bank deposit from a savings account to an interest account. "How do we know you kept 800K in the previous savings account from 22July - 29 September? Go back to the bank and get them to confirm with statement. " Which is what I did returning to Immigration to find that they had taken lunch 15 minutes early. I collect my passport tomorrow. Finished for another year.

  29. Well, I am pretty sure any one else in Trumps position would have done a lot worse ... I think the guy was bombarded with "bubonic" plague and total fear monger info ... does anyone believe he would shut down his crowning achievement the economy .. right or wrong the info he received ... but, with all of his bluster I think he made a coupe critical decisions ... like trying to ban travel from China into the US and a couple of weeks later he added Europe ... No one else in the government at the time supported his decision .. Pelosi, Schumer, Cuomo, Mad Max Waters, DeBlasio .. etc. Also, I think alot the Governors and Mayors have helped make this a total cluster f**k .. for example Cuomo sending sick Wuhan Virus patients to nursing homes .. just for starters .. Pretzker in Illinois demanding bail out money for the states sins over the last 30 years ... ... Newson shutting down beaches and all religious services .. WTF? .. To just name a few The major shit storm over Hydro .. I mean ... if there is a hope it works then give it a go instead of all the bullshit .. once again anti_Trump politics All of this has turned into one big political wrestling shit storm Fauci hasn't helped the situation either ... to busy trying to get face time on all of the news channels .. really .. what has Fauci done to help the situation .. other than is doom and gloom .. As far as his rallies .. people have to make their own decisions to attend or not

All the persons who scanned into the mall when the infected Egyptian visited have been ordered to self quarantine until 24 July, and contact the Rayong Public Health Office - I assume for monitoring. Fortunately for us, they released the detailed timeline and he visited the day after my wife and daughter's visit.
