  8. I just received a whatsapp message early this morning from an old friend and former coworker who is living in the Philippines and he gave me a confirmation on arrivals. For incoming passengers, the requirements for entry are simply proof of being fully vaccinated and a negative PCR test no more than 48 hours prior to the start of travel to the PI. Thats it! No more quarantines, no secondary PCR tests 5 days or 7 days later......nothing! To me, that should be enough. Satisfy the needs of the state without those needs being so burdensome to the individual, and welcome and have a good time. Thailand should follow suit with a similar entry policy for foreigners and allow the tourism-based sector of their economy to flourish once again.

  15. Was a recipe from a Thai website without any measures. So Mrs. Campario did this: Ingredients: Portion of frozen spinach, half big onion cut in pieces, some butter, some milk, some bacon or ham cut in small pieces, half big spoon of flour, salt, pepper, sugar. Put butter in a pan, fry onions. Add flour, a splash of milk and bacon (maybe fry bacon earlier if you like it cross) . Add spinach, another splash of milk, salt, pepper and little bit sugar to taste. Put everything in a baking tin, top with cheese and put in oven until the cheese is getting brown.

  17. That reminds me of a story with a fellow Canadian BM from where I used to live. Met him on Secrets board, and we exchanged texts and decided to to meet up. Well he cancels because of a “bad back” just as I’m pulling into the parking lot, and I was understandably very pissed off. Couldn’t have been more wrong, we got together probably 5 more times in the next few years, and he footed the bill each time. Had a lovely Pinay wife too, who joined us sometimes. Just an awesome guy who I unfortunately lost touch with and now live very far away from Yeah, so just because your guard is up meeting someone from a “mongers board”, doesn’t mean the guy is strange because he misses a meet up the first time. And let’s be honest, while there are many con artists in Asia, I think with just a few hundred big time posters on this and other boards……bad news travels fast and the guy wouldn’t last long among us. I remember one lesser known BM who failed to repay one our departed members a mere 1,000 baht…..Christ he never forgave him and let the whole board know about it

  20. Seems I hit a nerve? I thought it was a good trip report. We learned that one can travel unvaccinated on AirAsia despite policies stating otherwise. We learned that many hotels and favorite spots around lower Sukhumvit are closed. Like you, I just offered my opinion of what you described and photographed...nothing more. "Taking one for team" is a positive expression...in case you don't know. You mentioned reality awhile back in this thread. The reality is you are in a country where Covid infection rates are climbing. Many business are closed or empty. Other board members have mentioned this in their recent trip reports and recommended people stay home (or stay out of Bangkok) because "Covid is running rampant." Your report (and the latest Bangkok news) just confirmed this. Thank you. You are traveling unvaccinated so you claim? And after circulating in the heart of Bangkok you climb back on a plane and flew home to "backwater" peaceful Isaan. Did you bother to get tested prior to returning home? Will you wear a mask everywhere you go or isolate yourself for a week or so? I know...you live your life with utmost personal responsibility, right? I have an excellent full life. I live in a great city with fresh air, world class amenities, and almost no Covid. The health authorities will declare Covid locally "endemic" within a few weeks. The only inconvenience is having to wear a mask indoors in public places and to prove vaccination to eat or drink indoors. There are no restrictions except for non-citizens flying in from other countries -- they must be vaccinated (see link below). I choose to participate on this forum by choice. No bubble, mate. US travel requirements for non-citizens: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/noncitizens-US-air-travel.html#:~:text=You must be fully vaccinated,States on an immigrant visa). (I see Mr. Mosquito gave you a 👍. Nice.)

  21. I've been on the Thailand forums since 1997 in the days of the old FLB drop down "bulletin board" style of forum, and I've been lucky enough to make many great, kind and decent friends (plus a couple of enemies) as a result. For the most part, blokes come across as they are on the forums, that being decent, honest, fun loving guys with a zest for life and mutual appreciation of the female form. However (or, "But"), a few have been totally different from the person they portray to the person they actually are. One particular gent who remains nameless (as I've forgotten it, but I will edit in if I remember) was a reviewer who claimed to be African American but was actually Caucasian. He basically reviewed as many venues as he could but under a totally assumed and false identity. Actually, I lie, I didn't meet him, he was pointed out to me. Another who springs to mind was a BM we had on Thaigers called "Claw", he came across as a real tough guy, gave the image of being a 6'5 mountain of a guy who took no shit, had an intense hatred of causcasian women but in real life was actually a very pathetic, slightly built American Asian with a really nasty attitude problem. On another note is a current member of another forum, who goes by the name of "King Arthur". Initially I thought he was a bit of a party animal, he knew his onions and definitely had great taste in women. Upon meeting him, I was shocked to see a huge, gentle giant of a guy with hands the size of shovels but is arguably one of the kindest, most gentle people I have ever met. Lastly, from our own forum the enigmatic @Nightcrawler. I always thought he was a decadent, twisted perverted heathen who could hold a conversation with Satan and walk away with a bag of gold. I was right, he is and he can. If any BM's have the misfortune to meet me, I will try not to come across as a know all c**t, so at least I can try to be different from any expectations...

  23. I think insurance will be a necessary evil for the short term, but the RP has been one of the few SEA Nations to look at the logic rather than the numbers, also unofficially, the balikbayans have effectively told the local embassies via pressure groups like Nurse's associations (of which Ministers and ambassadors are happy to be connected with when things are going well) to go and fucking get it sorted or face the consequences. Hence, re opening. Fill ya boots.

  33. This was pointed out by Tim on the Tighger, saying how the figures have stayed the same for several weeks and how odd and unusual that is compared to how it behaves in other countries. Guess what, after his broadcast, the very next day the figures published shot up and have done since! Lol.

  35. Like I said...you are the ultimate sad sack ....... and now are stooping to nit picking to who gives other BMs an emoji.... is that what you do to for you to have an excellent full life......555. The only life you have is spending all your time on the forum tapping on your keyboard to post up your doom and gloom messages. One only has to look at your content and times you post up ....... you would never get out of the house....lol.. Ahh...again another little subtle dig at where I live...... the way you continually bring it up makes one wonder that you are jealous of me being able to live in that area......but I am in the North East ...not the Midwest....555 To your link...I suggest you actually read what it says before you claim something......lol. Do not worry......you are safe as I have no plans of visiting the USA again...... my days of returning there for a visit have passed. cheers

  38. more... Here’s What We Know About ‘Johns Hopkins Study’ on Lockdowns It's a non-peer reviewed working paper that has not been endorsed by the university. https://www.snopes.com/news/2022/02/03/johns-hopkins-study-on-lockdowns/ “Throughout the pandemic, most COVID research out of Johns Hopkins University has typically come from its Coronavirus Resource Center, an initiative run out the university’s world-renowned medical school. But the new paper, which was drafted by three economists, comes out of the university’s unaffiliated Krieger School of Arts and Sciences.” The Bottom Line The viral “Johns Hopkins study” about lockdowns was not the work of Johns Hopkins University, it was not peer-reviewed, and it was not written by epidemiologists. A number of researchers have also taken issue with the methods used in this study. Furthermore, the conclusions of this non-peer reviewed working paper run counter to published studies in academic journals that found lockdowns did prevent COVID-19 deaths...

  39. Where i live, it already has moved to people taking responsibility instead of Government mandates for nearly everything. The last restrictions like forced isolation, contact tracing etc are mooted to go in the Summer. You want to wear a mask, do, indeed wear two if you like, if you want to avoid crowded areas, then do, if you don't want to use public transport or go on holiday, then don't, if you don't want to go to a restaurant and prefer takeaways, then do that. Do what you feel comfortable with, take some personal responsibility. Everybody already does it in life anyway, i mean if i'm walking down the street, in a bar, restaurant whatever, and i see a couple of nutters walking up towards me, then i'll take some personal responsibility and avoid them. Rocket Science it isn't. Whilst i appreciate some, the Lefties of the Board, want Gov to continue telling everybody what they can and can't do as much as possible, love big state, thankfully not everyone is like that. Governments don't mandate for the Flu other similar viruses, and now there is a wide range of treatments and vaccines for Covid, sooner or later most places in the world will move to dealing with Covid in the same way as they do with the flu or similar. Those that don't like that or are terrified of the thought, perhaps should consider moving to China where they'll have all the mandates they love and where people are told pretty much what they can and can't do around everything. Or stay in hiding behind the sofa with 4 masks on, whatever they feel comfortable with, take personal responsibility. Covid isn't going anywhere, most places have accepted the way out of this will be it will become endemic, those that want or need continual vaccines can get them and/or the various other treatments as needed, Gov mandates and restrictions will be lifted, forced self isolation, contact tracing etc will be a distant memory, people will get their lives back and do what they feel comfortable, take personal responsibility. Some seem to have forgot what life was like before this, the Gov induced fear is still strong in them. Not everyone wants the Government telling them when they can go out to the shop or not. Where i live anyway, we've moved to a taking personal responsibility and learning to live with Covid, which i'm very happy about. I understood and agreed with the need for all the restrictions before, but now the damage they do in all sorts of ways, to the economy, society at large, people's health etc etc is more than any perceived gain, now that we have the vaccines, many other treatments and a much less severe dominate strain. Personal responsibility and living with Covid, coming to a a town near you soon. I feel a Red Hot Chili Peppers song coming on in homage to a previous member ...

  41. I've met some great blokes in here (and the other forum most of in here know, and once loved). Made good friends with many I've actually met. And friends with some I haven't met yet. But I think I have a pretty good nose for who I haven't met.... high percentage of them are I'm sure great guys in person. As far as some of the phonies, and rejects. I don't waste time thinking much about them. Toss bags everywhere, waste of time and space. Sorry mother fuckers.

At one point I used to like the odd wind up on the boards nowadays I know most names from elsewhere and have met one or two over the years.. Can't always like everyone and I haven't got the patience for some , but iv met a few decent lads and women (not just Thai either) from the boards and in LOS in general.
