Will start going through the 383 pictures I took in Patts today. Of course wifey is already looking and saying such things as " Wow, I am looking a bit older in pictures these days" I felt like saying "Welcome to the club"! LOL!

Been fun, nothing like the craziness of Pattaya. But then no pissed up farangs. The 'main' celebration/ water fight is mostly round the Royal Palace area at the moment, think it'll kick off here about 5pm. I seen them put up barricades and filling huge water tanks. We're all the hotel pool now, she's torturing and playing with other kids and their parents here. All good natured fun. Don't think we'll throw her into the main crowd later, she's only 7, and said she wanted to come to the pool. We can eat is the air-conditioning opulence of King Power later, marked safe from flour and water 🤣

Unfortunately it appears gone are the days when the water madness pretty much ended shortly after sunset, with the exception being the 18th and 19th. Last night the madness on Buakhao was still going strong at 8pm. That's when I saw the writing in the wet pavement that it wasn't going to end so left to find a safe, dry haven at King's Club. I've always thought if a group of bar owners in one area got together and agreed to create a water free zone during the days leading up to the 19th, they would find themselves overwhelmed with customers.

The fact spring finally arrived yesterday and it’s nice and warm. Gonna be bike shopping next week.

Both Bangkok Bank and kbank accounts I hold I have yet to have any issues when the banking apps came into play it really made life easy. Not having to have an ATM card anymore to take money from the ATM machine is brilliant I'm never losing a card in a machine that's for sure cuz I don't need one. What I do find interesting is in the 20 years I've lived here and had a couple of bank accounts I've never gotten a single piece of mail from the bank. I'm not sure they send out statements not that I really care don't need it everything online. I wish my US Bank was as efficient as these Thai Banks I have

Getting someone prepared to participate in their first Songkran. We've kinda shielded her from it before, but now she's raring to go, and it's a lot more civilised round where we are!

First day where I am almost feeling normal. I had 22 hours of flight time and me poor bum paid the price. Altogether I had 30 hours of travel from Bkk hotel to landing at Durango airport. I slept for 2 straight days.

I just dodged a bucket full from a nice lady (she was toasted already) on my way to the gym. I get to the gym and see that they are shutting down until the 17th. Cnuts didn't even post it until today. On the notice they say they will "reimburse" for the lost days (damn right they will). On the way back I took an alternate route. I noticed a lot of temp water headquarters set up, but fortunately they were unmanned (or unwomanned). I made it back to the friendly confines unscathed. Today and tomorrow will be the big days. They go ape shit on this stuff up here.

Rather than execute them, I would propose rounding them up, then line them up, spray them down with their own confiscated water cannons, then lock them in a bare room (no furniture, no towels) with the A/C cranked to the max until their lips turn blue. Guaranteed they'll think twice about ever using a water cannon on another person.

There probably are water free bars that adhere to the sunset rules but you have to walk past all the other crazy 'let's carry on the mayhem' bars to get there. It only takes one idiot in a bar to ruin it for many of those who just want to have a quiet night in a restaurant or stroll about town, probably why many of us left town at Songkran. Unless you are willing to get involved or run the chance of getting wet, best to stay in your residence or leave town. Many may say you are grumpy, and I would agree if it was really only for a day or two, but it's not in the Pattaya Central area, it goes on for about 10 days before ending on the 19th, that is just too much for the patience of many unless you are a tourist and come particularly because of the festival. My reason for leaving is that, out of 3 Songkran festivals, I only enjoyed one, that was when I was staying at the Whitehouse and just placed myself in the corner bar on 2nd road by the hotel for the whole day. Get a soaking and then just sit, watch and drink, till it's over. The other 2 occasions I was in my house but decided to venture out, the amount of talc and water pasted and sprayed over my face made me violently sick, I vowed not to do it again. When I lived in Hua Hin, it really only got crazy for a day, same in Khon Kaen, it was a first day of gentle sprinkling with all the villagers, the second day was just the youth getting pissed and fighting. Pattaya, you can have it.

Apologies if this has been mentioned already I haven't seen it here but there is a very large area that had a huge Banner on it on 3rd Rd Opposite I believe it's soi 21 the same one that PP massage is on. It says something regarding a new beer bar complex being built I'm sure it's just an April Fool's joke not only is that just more beer bars that aren't needed but that is a bad location in my opinion. Unless they've got big parking plans and still they've got to have a major draw to get people up there I would think. I just can't see another 10 or 15 bar complex springing up and succeeding but what do I know

It would be great if the ceasefire held, but I read a post from less than an hour ago on PA that not all the bar owners were on board with the plan. Stupid business decision on their part not to not agree to a 6pm water free zone.

My good buddy striderman may he rest in peace used to come in to Secrets at opening about 8:00 p.m. when the dancers would start. He would have a couple of bottles of Chang and give me his bin and asked me to hold on to it he'll be back. He'd be back about midnight to end the evening have a couple more bottles of Chang and then pay his Bin. He did this so as to save him from having to give a second tip. I used to give him shit about it all the time we used to laugh about it my buddy Steve

It's in full flow on lower Suk, very civilized at the moment. Managed to walk from soi 3 to soi 11/1 for food without getting too wet, just my legs! Soi 4 is nuts as expected.

David Strachan gives some coverage on the Las Vegas Beer Bar Complex. Also right at the beginning of the clip he shows the new Beer Bars in Soi Boomerang - sort of on the left hand turn down towards the Hideaway Bar etc - they look Ok - just Beer Bars but lets see how they go 😋

5555... I did fine with the last one MrB. I grew up in a family of ranchers and farmers. Having full pantries was common sense. When ya went to town you didn't buy single items... you bought those items by the case. Im a carry over of those old ways of thinking.
