john luke
Some heavy rain this late morning but only for about thirty minutes. First two pictures show the road that runs adjacent to the Dusit Thani hotel and joins the Dolphin Circus. Some damage done to the beach. Â The photographs are pretty self explanatory. These were taken mid afternoon some hours after the rain. Â It is fairly obvious from the road surface that there was some flooding or water retention on Beach Road. Finally onto the road works which extend from Mike's Mall to Walking Street. Â A lot of water collecting in the road works; where will such water go once the road has been filled in? 4

Pumpuynarak
They seem to be happy just to keep throwing money at it for the reasons we all know, how can you arrive at any other conclusion ?

I have been half ass keeping track of the ballpark money spent on all the rubbish beach improvements since 2013 and I think is some where between 1.3 and 2 billion baht so far........ Ok I will say the beach is better now......But the promenade was  1000% better before... Edited October 14, 2019 by fforest
Lirchenfeld
They ought to build some dykes to protect the beach from all the water that runs through the city towards the ocean after each and every rainfall. 😛

Bazle
Repairs to the beach have started: I'm not sure where the sand to fill the crevasses is going to come from. At about mid-day today, this digger was moving it from a pile left at the shoreline, but it was not nearly enough to do this job, and there are many more crevasses like this one further south. I'm not sure where the sand to fill the cravasses is coming from. There was a pile at the shoreline that the digger was movingt

john luke
Torrential rain yesterday evening. This morning I took a walk onto Beach Road to view the damage and see any repair work. Overall the beach was in good condition with the only significant damage being areas where water runs from Beach Road across the footpath on onto the beach. Work being condicted by a team dealing with movement of sand and a second team addressing the filters in the pumping equipment. Lifeguards also parading for duty. Whilst the main structure (sand bags) seem to remain in place, it seems accepted that maintainance and re positioning of a large amount of sand will be necessary following heavy rain. The picture including the dog is to indicate the volume of sand being moved.

john luke
Considering the rain yesterday the beach does not appear to have fared at all badly. 2

I've been out on the existing pile a few times and know how difficult it is to walk on in its current state. The small stone covering will also make it look a far sight better too.
